I've known about this programme for quite a while through Mary Ray talking about it, and it was well worth seeing. :D Now seeing doggy activities on tv has given me this major wheeeeeee factor for going to Crufts!!! :D 2 weeks to go and meg is bouncy and knows that its coming up and her heelwork and set exercises lately have been fantastico!!! yeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! :multi: Quote

Mary Ray must have been training that dog every day to get it to that standard, that or it had previous training and they just weren't cracking on. no way could a member of the public train a dog to that standard that quickly, i see people everyday who actually want a dog and want to train it and they cant get to that standard that quickly so how is someone who doesn't even want a dog do it? with proffesional trainers behind the scenes training the dog like crazy me thinks. that said hats off to mary ray and the other mentors it was impressive non the less and it looks like that rob has conquered a fear of dancing anyway. imported_Kat Posted February 19, 2004 Author Posted February 19, 2004 Nope Bobby was a stray that I knew of a while back (programme was filmed in August 2003) and the people that got Bobby honestly never trained her in pet obedience. Perhaps it will encourage a few owners to enrol in classes, when they see that it isn't just Border Collies that can steal the limelight on the competitive training scene :wink: Quote

Lets hope it does encourage more people to train their dogs! isn't is something like 3% of all dog owners actually bother to train their dogs. i cant imagine having a dog and not training it! although i havent gotton into competetive dog sport yet i'm thinking of starting don't have a border collie though! Cuz I think I saw that same show and a guy from the city got sent to a ranch and had to learn how to ride and do something with the horse but I can't remember now, was quite some time ago and the show was basiclly on as background noise. Since then haven't seen it though, I don't watch much TV. Only 3% of dog owners train their dogs??? :o :o Is that like AT ALL, or does it include only the occasional sit and shake a paw (which the dog only does if you have cookies and when it feels like of course...) I know tons of people who's dogs know only those two commands and it's mind boggling! Mind you Coal only surly knows Sit and Down right now, but he's LEARNING and on the way to KNOWING a lot more commands! I could deffently not own a dog without training it! If I didn't train Coal he'd be MORE a handful, makes me wonder why the people shouting at their dogs (Like Jared's mom and her dog :roll: ) to "LAY DOWN CHAUNCIE" don't realize life's so much easier if your dog and you can understand eachother a lot better :-?
