pei obssessed Posted May 9, 2003 Posted May 9, 2003 Sorry, but this post is only for Pei people, as I suspect FSF, which only occurs within our breed... I think my baby just had an episode of FSF Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted May 9, 2003 Posted May 9, 2003 don't panic, all cases of puppy fevers do not end with kidney failure. is your vet "a shar-pei friendly" expert in the breed? take a sample of her water to your vet and tell him of your fears Quote
pei obssessed Posted May 9, 2003 Author Posted May 9, 2003 No, mouse, he's not really an expert, that's why I was trying to do my research before we see him. we're going to see him tomorrow and see what he says... She didn't have very high fever, so somehow that made me worry less. But still... we'll see how it goes at the vet's... Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted May 10, 2003 Posted May 10, 2003 HAS SHE BEEN NEUTERED/FIXED? PLEASE KEEP ME UPDATED Quote
pei obssessed Posted May 10, 2003 Author Posted May 10, 2003 Yeap, spayed before first heat (I know that their heat can trigger fever episodes, but can't be that with her). Saw the vet today... He said the Pei he'd seen with Swollen Hock Syndrome had a big swelling--but I've read that not all dogs get swollen hocks with their fevers. He's not convinced she's had an FSF episode and said that even if she did there isn't much we can do--which I kinda knew  So the conclusion is: if it ever happens again bring her in right away for the vet to see exactly how she's acting... Meanwhile, since I think that it was FSF (the vet didn't have any other explanation for the fever), I'll get in touch with the holistic vet sometime soon and see what he thinks. Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 I THINK I WOULD DO THE SAME :) I WILL KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 18, 2003 Posted May 18, 2003 any breed can have an off day, --id not go convincing yourself youve got probs yet, it might never occur again, -and im not too sure if shed been having an attack that no matter how much you tempted her with her favourite foods that shed of eaten it, just keep an eye on her, keep her on low protien foods , meanwhile read up on the pei sites about the condition, it didnt sound too much like it to me--------hope your wrong, linda :( Quote
