1. Thank you. I will read it carefully
2. My dog has been at the vet for a few days because his leg swell after surgery. I was told that he may have thrombosis from laying for so long BUT that it is not dangerous to dogs like for people. I cannot believe that. Does anybody know anything about this????? THANKS
3. When my insurance company asked me if I have an alarm system I said yes - my dogs. I think we should get a discount for having dogs? A lot less break ins. What more could you ask for? But we have to pay more for having dogs or don't get insurance at all.
4. First let me say that I feel sorry for the kid. But he needs to be told what's right and what's wrong. I walked my dog the other day along fences and a kid showed up behind me. I said "HI". He showed me a note and told me that his ball flew in that yard and he will put a note on the door for the owner. I thought - great kid. The dogs...should be praised since they did exactly what they should do when a stranger comes into the yard.
5. Or the Pug rescue. Here is one website for them but they are all over http://www.rescuepug.com/
6. By the way. Have and keep the rescue places of course but do not allow any selling or buying of exotic animals anymore. I think that would be the best and the right thing to do for all countries.
7. I think it should be illegal - period. These animals should be in the wild and not kept in cages. Circus shouldn't be allowed to have them either. Wasn't it last year when they found a Tiger in a department in New York? Cats and dogs are already breed to be dependent on us and want to be with us. Isn't that enough?
8. Unless you really know where the dog goes - never give it away for free. People just wait for that and then sell them to research labs or pit bull fighting rings. I put an add in a paper once giving away a free puppy. I got the weirdest calls. "Puppy? Can I come get it?" People did not even ask me if it is a male or a female and what breed......Amazing...
9. So far it is still hard. I think I put myself into a dream world for a while. Not wanting to realize that she is gone. Imagining she is with a friend. But she is not. A friend sent me an email about a Boxer needing a home. He looks just like her when I found her and it broke my heart. Not ready for that one yet.
10. I just put my Boxer to rest a couple of weeks ago. Many of the signs you describe sound very familiar. She had a brain tumor. I decided to let her go as long as she still had some dignity of walking on her own. She lived for protecting me, cuddling and wagging her behind. She could not do any of it anymore and she did not know what's going on most of the time. She looked so peaceful........I know it was the best I could do for her. It's never easy - No matter when the point comes.......but you have to think about her now. What would she want? What does she need? Hang in there.......
11. I'll always sign for a very good cause.......
12. If your dog is fair skinned I would recomment sun screen. They can burn just like we do. Some dogs love to drink the salt water. So you may want towatch for that - otherwise you will have a mess in the car. Have fun. My dogs used to chase the birds and waves. It was fun to watch....
13. I feel with you. I just put my Boxer to rest because of a brain tumor. She found me 8 years ago. Just remember. It's fun up there for dogs. They all play together. That is what keeps me going........

Wolf Hybrid

I agree - they should not be breed. The wolf is my favorite animal. I love them. I love the eyes. I love everything about them. But they should be protected in the wild and not brought into houses. Keep them wild instead of always feeling the need of breeding something.
15. So, how did you get the picture to show in the body???????? She was special - just like everybody's dog is special to them. It was the toughest thing I ever had to do but knowing that this is what she needed makes it easier to live with. Makes it easier to accept. BUT every time I am at home I think she will walk by mey at any time now. Being away from home is a lot easier!!!!!
16. I think I finally got it. We had snow in Texas on Valentine's day this year. The last pictures I got from her......I added one picture with her man. Yesterday when I got home from work he was all wet around his eyes. He has that a lot right now. Do dogs cry? I actually believe they do!!!!! I hope you enjoy the pictures. She used to look like a "real" Boxer with no white in the face. Living with me must have been tough!!!! She was the BEST. http://groups.msn.com/Dog-O-Maniaphotohosting/roxy.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=967[/img] http://groups.msn.com/Dog-O-Maniaphotohosting/roxy.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=972[/img] http://groups.msn.com/Dog-O-Maniaphotohosting/roxy.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=975[/img]
17. I would really like to attache or include a picture of her. How does it work?
18. Not so good news. I watched Roxy walk and walk and walk and never resting on Friday from 5pm to 11 pm. When I made her lay down she was whining and got back up. She was too tired to chew a bone. That was it. I took her in on Saturday and put her to rest. The only thing I can hold on to right now is - how peaceful she looked. Like...."I can finally stop walking". I miss her so much but I know that this is what she wanted and needed. As long as she still had some dignity left and was able to walk on her own. She is deeply missed and always will be. She was the best I ever found in my life. When I found her she was so badly abused that she dropped every time I lifted my hand to just get something. We had 8 great years together. She saw many places when we went on vacation together. Or boating outings on the lake. Thanks for all your support in the last few days!!!!!
19. I used to watch my friends little pit. I took her to the dog park (many times) and she loved to play with other dogs. She was tough but the people laughed and enjoyed watching the dogs. Then when somebody said...."Is that a pit?" People pulled their dog away. Amazed me every time it happened. So, I started saying that she is an Amstaff. Oh ok. then they can play!!!!!!!!!!!
20. I totally agree with Lokipups. I always used the word command first. Usually a couple of times and then a low level correction. I was told by a trainer that a dog could show aggression when used. I have never seen it but she was totally against the e-collar so........My collar has 4 levels and I have never used level 4 on them. I had the collars for 6 years. I used them a few weeks and that was it. Since then I just put it one (once a year) without even turning it one and my boy listens a lot better right away. Ok I would still like to know if we can get damaged by getting little shocks when we touch something?????????? If a dog could get damaged by low level shocks then it would only makes sense that we can too.......scary thought.
21. I actually always thought that dogs are a lot more pain tolerant than we are. So, I don't think that a shock that feels like nothing to me will be horrible to the dog. Let's see. When ever I get a shock from touching something it could cause epilepsy in me later on? It comes down to abusing e collars. Abusing any type of tool to train a dog. Anything can be a great help to people that know how to use it and don't abuse it.
22. Texas A&M found out that she is very very healthy from the neck down. They wanted to make sure that the tumor is JUST in the head. They wanted to keep her to do the CT scan and then decide on surgery. I took her home. The reason.......they only get to do surgery once a month or once every other month. That tells me that they do not have much experience and that most people don't put their dogs through it. Also, when I asked about success rate - no answer...... My boyfriend actually called me at 6 am and told me he is coming with me. That was the best help. We both thought the same - she is too old and too dear to us to be tortured like that. So, my girl is home with steroids. If they help I will know by Saturday morning. If not I will let her go in peace and she can join her friends and play without ever being in pain again............
23. I actually have been giving my dogs vitamins and 3V cabs and good dog food. Natural Balance Duck and Potato. A long time ago I fed them Solid Gold. I do give them what ever I eat as well. May be that is bad but I don't really think so. as long as I watch their weight. And I had them tested for Parvo and Distemper - titer test - and especially my girl's results came back very high. She is very healthy and does not need any shots. But here is an update. I went to see a specialist. She told me that she has classic signs of a brain tumor. She made an appointment at Texas A&M for me for tomorrow morning. They will do the CT and then decide if surgery is an option. I asked her if I just torture my girl or if it is worth a shot. She said if the tumor is on the outside of the brain she has a good chance. And if she does not make it - I tried. Otherwise I will have to put her down in the next few days for sure. So, I will take her to A&M. I guess I kinda feel like I should as long as their is a slight chance of saving her......I know more tomorrow!!!! Thanks
24. I have to admit that I have used shock collars on my dogs. And I do like them. WHY? Because it is my dogs choice to get hurt. He knows exactly what I put on his neck. AND I ALWAYS test the collar on my hand first to make sure it is working right. I have 4 levels. Level two feels like when you get shocked when touching somebody. It is more a scare but DOES not hurt. I don't really need it anymore but when I put it on my dog because he wants a bone from the other dog - all I have to do is show him the remote. Yes, all collars can be abused. You can choke a dog with a regular collar when he pulls hard. I think most collars are fine if used correctly and not abused. Almost everything can turn into a weapon when in the wrong hands. A couple of people borrowed it from me because their dogs liked to harass other dogs. They liked to go for walks in the park and just had a hard time doing it. First they were worried. A week later they told me that it was the best thing. They had to use it just a few times at a low level. After that a single voice command was enough. Believe my dogs are fine and spoiled and happy. I do not abuse them with the shock collar. I used them 3 times in the last 5 years so........and then just put it on and they remembered.....
25. How about Rocky for Boxers!!!!!! My girls name is actually Roxy - when I found her I called out names and she seemed to respond to Roxy the best......
