1. I had Sassy at the vets office for a UTI Check & just a checkup. Well I'm sitting in the waiting area, and in comes a woman & 2 young girls. One was carrying an massive doll, & the other one was slightly handicaped. Well I stand up & move Sassy & myself away from them, and kindly ask them not to approch her. It fell on deaf ears! Sassy freaked out & backed herself into the corner behind me. All the while mom is on the other side of the room chatting with a friend. While her 2 children are harassing others with pets. Sticking & waveing their hands in front of strange dogs, not even asking the other owners. And I'll be damned if the one with the doll didn't get right in Sassy's safe space. I'm like, look she's wearing a muzzle, please leave her alone. Kid looked at me like I was stupid!!! Kept saying nice doggie, does she bite? I said yes she does, so please back off. Finally mom comes over takes one look at Sassy & asks if she can pet her :o I said no, she doesn't like strangers, so please leave her alone. Meanwhile Sassy is fighting to get far enough away from all these strange people. Made her really happy to finally see the vet :-? I was thinking next time lady put your kids on a leash!!
2. Aww yes the little dog/little dog owners rant! Many times I've been out with Sassy & Zeus & we've had smaller dogs come running out a try to go after my dogs. Of course the bone headed owners think it's adorable that little mickey is going after two "Monsters" :x And if Sas or Zeus would've grab one of the little dogs, the owner would've chewed out for haveing "Aggressive Beasts", while little Mickey would be in the right Because he was defendin his property, excuse me, but the street is not your property, and your damn dog is off leash.. gah I hate that
3. Hairless pooch wins ugly dog contest July 1, 2005 Print Email Subscribe SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) -- The owners of the other contestants in this year's World's Ugliest Dog Contest may have thought their pooches had a chance - until they saw Sam. The 14-year-old pedigreed Chinese crested recently won the Sonoma-Marin Fair contest for the third consecutive time, and it's no surprise. The tiny dog has no hair, if you don't count the yellowish-white tuft erupting from his head. His wrinkled brown skin is covered with splotches, a line of warts marches down his snout, his blind eyes are an alien, milky white and a fleshy flap of skin hangs from his withered neck. And then there's the Austin Powers teeth that jut at odd angles from his mouth. He's so ugly even the judges recoiled when he was placed on the judging table, said his proud owner, Susie Lockheed, of Santa Barbara. "People are always horrified when I kiss him. He may turn into a prince yet. He's definitely a toad," she said. "I always thought he'd be great on greeting cards or on a commercial for Rogaine." Sam, who's pushing 15, has something of a cult following after winning the contest - and fans' hearts - for three years running. Last year, huge crowds gathered around Sam and Lockheed at a local parade and Lockheed said she received letters and calls about her pup for weeks. "So many people have told me they've got his picture on their refrigerator. He certainly has a little cult following," she said. "I did years of professional musical theater and never achieved the fame Sam has." Sam will appear in this weekend's Fourth of July parade in Santa Barbara, but the recent events may be the cap on a long, ugly career. Lockheed says Sam's now suffering from congestive heart failure, lung and kidney problems and has definitely slowed down in his twilight years. Still, he enjoys regular gourmet meals of sirloin steak, cheese balls, roasted chicken and flan (so he'll swallow his multiple pills). He also passes occasional weekends at the Gaviota ranch of Lockheed's boyfriend, where the World's Ugliest Dog rides in the back of an ATV with his few remaining hairs wafting in the wind ANd here's Sam
4. Why in the heck did you let her keep tormenting an already fearfull dog with out putting a stop to it? I can't not fathom letting someone hit my dog with a meat cleaver :x
5. Gosh, what a pair LOL. I have no clue!! What ever they are, they're sweeties. Congrats on getting a dog :)
6. Well Sassy was the one who ate a $20 dollar bill and pooped it out in one peice. And yes I cleaned it up & used it!! It's money! If it would've been a one, I would said hell with it. But not a 20!!
7. She see the slightest chance of getting out she's gone! I thought I had her broke of bolting. If we wanted to go out, she would jump up on the couch as she was told. But I guess since I wasn't there to tell her "Up" she took the advantage. She's good at times & other times she's deaf as hell & she ignores me. I think it's the conflicting messages she getts here.. I tell her no, and they say, oh don't be so hard on her. Do you want to live to an old age? Or do you want her to be killed on the road!!! I kept my tounge with them tonight when I got her home.
8. our backyard is fenced, but our front yard isn't :( Looks like we'll have to start over in training.. She's such a stuborn dog when she's off leash.. She's like you can't catch me!!
9. Not sure if I could afford it. I was thinking about boxing in the front porch, so if she gets out, she's stuck on the porch. But I don't really know what to do, besides haveing her crated when some goes out, but that's really not possiable
10. This afternoon has been one from hell. I was outside mowing the yard.. And my grandpa comes out of the house, and as he does, Sassy shoots past him, and takes off for the woods. I was pissed!! It's like didn't you see her sitting there??? We searched to woods, and saw her heading out to the street. Her recall was gone. She took off down the middle of the street with trafic slowing down to aviod hitting her. Took me a good 2hrs to finally catch her.. I don't know weather to be mad at her for not comeing when called our being pissed at my grandpa for just standing there and watching her run down the road, not even offering to help. Gah, I was scared shitless! She stood in the bloody middle of the road watching the cars comeing on her.. I thank god everyone slowed down, and stopped, but I don't want this to happen again.. How can I get my family to buckle down on her & not treat her as a child. And how can I make sure she'll never get out again??
11. I might buy her a raincoat LMAO
12. LOL today we had tons & tons of rain. And Sassy was getting very wet & very picky about not wanting to potty in the rain. So I put an old shirt of mine on her. ANd she went right out & pottied like a good girl. We came in & she wouldn't let me take it off! Little snot loved it :) Here's some pics
13. I wonder if that's what's bothering Sassy, she keeps trying to lick back there. Might have to get that checked.
14. Thanks for the tips. I was thinking about when I go to work I can let him in my room until I get home, let him out & then bring him in before I go to bed.. That way he'd be inside..
15. I hate them. I truely hate them. Zeus is a good 95lbs. Well behaved at times & other times he can be a bit stuborn. But the problem is him & Sassy do have problems with each other in each others space. So I'd either have to crate Sassy for awhile while I let him in. What makes this even more complicated is that my grandpa has been declineing in health. And everytime Zeus see him, he barks at him. A "don't come near me" bark. Which is highly unusal. So they think he might bite. I'm going to have to make a descion on his future.. I don't know what to do.
16. I need some help. My grandparents won't let Zeus our GSD in the house anymore.. I'm devastated. He's still getting daily attetion & interaction. But I want him inside with us. But no, they want him to stay outside, because he's large. Any ideas on how to make them keep him inside sometimes?? I don't want him to have any health problems because he's outside.
17. Court, I've tries the scruff shake thing with Sassy, and of course my grandparents hate it. They tell me to leave her alone. It's like she needs to zipp her mouth for a bit!!
18. What do you do if no amount of yelling will stop them!! Sassy will just out bark me if I tell her enough..
19. I have to agree with K. If he has had classes, shouldn't he listen to you no matter what? Zeus is outside & yet he still listens to me inside.. If you didn't take him, then he should be listening to your parents instead..
20. I feel your pain JM! Sassy has had one of those days today! It's like shut up for 5 seconds!! Everything has set her off!! :drinking: :drinking:
21. Woof Woof Woof! This Be Sassy. Just wait till I get my teeth on those stupid vets. They'll never want to poke me again. My mom wants me to be nice to them, so she puts something over my mouth. But I can still bark at them.. I also love to bark at anything that moves, cats, birdy, Squirrel, car, truck, mail man, you name it I bark at it. Well Kes, My mom wants me to go in my bed so she can work, but I'll show her who's the real alpha!! HEHEHE She's going in the crate, not me. Take Care Kes, and show your mom who's boss!!!
22. It took me forever to get Zeus's head right! I went over it about 3 hours. And the color kinda teed me off! It's so chalky, and If I touch if it'll rub off on my hands..
