1. Just to clarify, are you saying that Laduenda posted this?
2. I use the heartguard chewables for my dog - she LOVES them! They're kind of expensive if you get them from your vet (I paid $80 :o ), but I discovered that if you go to www.1800petmeds.com and click on heartguard - their prices are WAY cheaper! I haven't bought anything from them yet, but I plan to. Check it out :D
3. I've seen that before, but it was just as funny this time!
4. That was the most sickening and disturbing story that I have ever read...and the pictures made me gag. :o How can anyone keep a dog in that kind of condition...how what why...lost for words here... I'm happy I read it because it opened my eyes a little more to the reality of the extremes of the horrible conditions that these poor puppy mill dogs are kept in, but at the same time that was very disturbing...
5. OMD!! :o wow...that is one determined hound...
6. hmm...I wish I had anti-skunk recipe when Roxie *almost* got sprayed. A skunk went off at her in our backyard, but I think it just missed her since our backyard smelled a lot worse than her. However, she had this mildy skunky odor that was really annoying! We bought some expensive skunk smell remover crap from the store that was only partially effective. Took forever for the smell to fade away!
7. She's adorable! I'm so happy that you finally got your "dream dog"! :D
8. Roxie loves the taste of my feet after I've been out for a run... Is it possible that Freebee maybe just likes the taste of tired, sweaty feet?
9. Roxie reminds me more of bk's and dogpaddle's dogs. I can hug her and cry on her if I want...but then she'll spoil the moment trying to get away from the freak getting her fur wet and move on to something more interesting! She also seems to enjoy the taste of blood...she'll start licking at a cut and her eyes will get really wide (like this tastes interesting..but good!) and i'll pull away...but she'll keep on trying to get at the yummy blood :o Sometimes I wonder about her...  Also, Roxie does get upset when people yell...but she doesn't try to get between them, it just scares her. She also hates it when I yell because she knows i'm angry about something. I do have a very umm.."loud" house, people yell alot...so that could be a part of it!
10. wow, after reading that I realized how many times I said "in there", total count is 8 times! Also, one other thing I meant to add - every basset hound or hound that I have ever known had horrible doggie smell, but after being in the room with one for awhile, I didn't notice it as much. Your husband reminds me of my dad...my dad has a really sensitive nose and he always comments that the dog smells, I should give her a bath. Now Roxie has very MILD doggie odor...it's not even really an odor..you have to physically put your nose into her fur to smell anything! But imagine...if we had a hound my dad would never shut up about it! :o
11. My dog used to have this problem in my parent's room. I think it was partly because it was one of the only carpeted rooms in the house (maybe it seemed more like "grass" to her) and she also almost never went in there...until we put a TV and couch in there! Now everyone in my family watches TV in there fairly often, and of course Roxie follows people in. Before she didn't see it as part of her den as much and she would actually go to the bathroom in there if she got stuck in there for even a second. But she's stopped that now...she'll actually voluntarily go in there now and lay in the sun for hours without a problem. I think your main problem (as dogpaddle said) is that chester doesn't see that area as a part of his "den"...definitely play in there with him and your daughter as often as possible. Or just sit in there with him for awhile...make it a part of your daily routine to go into that room with him a few times a day! If you are in there with him enough, hopefully he will come to accept it as just another part of his "den".
12. Just to give you a heads up, Rowie - a lot of people are posting over at doggie days...another message board, right now. I don't want to get in trouble for posting the address (i'm not sure why this would be a bad thing, all I know is that sasha got in trouble for it) But I'll pm it to you in case you don't already have it.
13. I think only the main page is messed up Rowie. I noticed that too...the main page isn't putting up the latest updated topics, it's been stuck on the same stuff. It's not your computer, it's the site!
14. Welcome Kara! My dog, Roxie, is a German Shepherd/American Pit Bull terrier mix. I plan on starting agility with her in early April...and I can't wait!! Post pics of your rottie soon :D
15. Sounds like a great dog! Can't wait for an update!! :D :D
16. Thanks for all the compliments guys! :D I'll definitely try to get this poem up on some sites and i'll ask if I can post it up at my local shelter.
17. The quality of training you get at Petsmart really depends a lot on what each individual trainer is like. Roxie went through puppy class, beginner, intermediate, and advanced training classes at Petsmart. I thought their prices were a bit high...but other than that they weren't all that bad. They basically teach you how to teach your dog. They're definitely way better than a training manual as they do interact with the dogs...you don't just sit there the whole time. People each take turns practicing how to do something new in front of the class, then they break up and get some time each class to practice and consult the trainer if they need help. Then you practice at home for the week, and come back next week to review, ask the trainer if you are having problems, and learn something new. Just your average training class... Another plus, especially for puppies, is that your dog gets a chance to socialize a bit (although they aren't able to go off leash) Of course, I haven't taken any classes other than Petsmart classes *yet*, so I really don't have anything to compare to...
18. strange, the past few days I haven't been able to see any dogomania logo pics, but right now I'm not having any problems. weird.
19. nice poem! :D I can feel your golden's "energy" in it! very upbeat poem, I agree with behle - it feel like it needs a "catchy little tune"!
20. I think that you should just not give him a treat until he settles down. Simply ignore him until he stops (I know, i know, this is easier said than done!!) It might take 15 minutes, but whatever you do, don't give him a treat until he does what you ask, on the first try. I agree with dog paddle, teaching him watch me would be a good idea, it definitely helps to get his attention focused on you. But it wouldn't be a good idea to try to teach this command with cheese! Well...keep working at it! Have fun
21. ditto what behle said! I wonder if everyone is having this problem...geez! one problem after another!!
22. Thanks K! :D Good suggestion too, maybe I'll send it to some anti-puppy mill sites!
23. I was oddly inspired last night...and this poem is what came out of it. Hope you guys like it...any suggestions for improvement are appreciated! Final Peace ground cold beneath paws fur matted and wet teeth rotted, gums sore but not quite dead
24. adorable! what a cutie!
25. ohh Poofy! I feel so bad for your poor baby...my thoughts and prayers go out to you and Grammy!
