1. I'm going back to TX!! :D Either this afternoon, or next saturday..and I haven't packed my stuff yet! Duck won't be going with me today, but she'll go with my dad in about 1-2 months! Then we can take her swimming and do BARF and everything!!And no more stairs.. :) I have to go pack now..bye...ill be back on in about 2 days..
2. Duck is a fast eater too...she gobbles her food and then it comes back up undigested. :o
3. Most of the people that come over are my friends...and only one actually likes Duck..the others were like, get your dog away from me!! If they are not going to tolerate a calm dog lying under the table, they are not coming to my house!!I got really mad at one of them, cuz she was like, CAROLYN, out Duck in her crate, NOW!Like she can tell me to do whatever she wants. :x I told her to shut up and locked her(not Duck) out of the living room.. And she was also the one that got mad at the stray dog when he followed us everywhere..we went shopping and he just followed us in, and she told me not to pet anymore strays...She is NOT my friend anymore.Anyone who does not respect dogs will not be my friend.EVER. :bad-words: Ok, back to the subject. She peed all over the examination table at the vets..I never do anything to her..and I tell my dad not to pet her right away when he comes home..*sigh*...she'll need a long time to outgrow it..
4. :o I would have gone to work.
5. Try to soothe her when you clip..just clip one nail at first.Or give her treats. Then maybe she'll like getting her nails clipped..Was it a real bite or just a nip?Try screaming or make a loud noise if she bites again. That way she'll know she hurt you(if the bite was unintentional..). Move the treat down, and also forward. If her bottom goes up, press your hand on her to hold her down..not too hard though..
6. Oh, I really hope they find frenchie boy :-?
7. Duck pees when anybody other than me pets her immediately after meeting her. The vet said it was submissive urination, but couldn't it be because she's really excited or something? :-? I thought that that would need training, but the vet said she would just outgrow it...Any ideas?
8. I like the Lab x curly coated retriever one best...I didn't get it at first...had to re-read a few times
9. I tried to find a site for the Sacramento shelter..i looked at the dogs available and it seems like they don't require adoption fees.. :-?
10. Ok.That is enough for me.I am NEVER going to buy another dog again.I MEAN IT!I'm going to adopt dogs or pick up strays. No more breeders for me!I feel guilty, buying a dog from a breeder when I could have saved one from death
11. WHen I take Duck out to go potty, he just runs really fast and jumps on me with his whole back end wagging  Poor boy...
12.
I dislike invisible fences for some of the above reasons, but approaching the whole thing from the point of view of a pedestrian: I was taking a walk in my neighborhood and passed a house with a man gardening in his front yard. His medium sized dog was in the yard with him. As soon as the dog saw me he ran toward me barking and growling. The man yelled out, " Don't worry, we have invisible fence." Well, I wasn't really worried, but do you know how disconcerting it is to have a dog growling and slathering at you within a few inches of your body? It wasn't the most pleasant experience, let me tell you. :x
My piano teacher's(in TX) neighbor has an invisible fence for his Dal, and he actually ran out of the boundaries when he saw her(teacher) Golden going out.. :-?
13.
You're holding him straddled between your legs when the doorbell rings and you find yourself quickly transported straight to the front door.
That one's my favorite  Duck isn't big enough to do that, but its just too funny...great stuff behle, thanks for sharing...so funny, I'm still laughing my head off
14. I agree with you gooey, cuz some people just use it but don't train, so what happens when the GL isn't on?I don't think I'll ever use that, because it would just be better to train, and I'm too lazy to try...since the size has to be exactly right..
15. Yea, she's spayed, and doing very well. She's going in to get her stitches out today.
16. I know for sure that he's a stray because he's part of the doggy "gang" at our school...I asked my dad(before he followed me home) if I could keep him, or all the dogs at school.No. Of course, I think he's adorable, and even if he wasn't, I'd still want to keep him, but a whole lot of people here think he's ugly, and that leads to no one wanting him.I think he was dumped by a previous owner, cuz he's housetrained.I had him in the other day when my dad was gone and he just sat by the door when he wanted out.And his previous owner probably took him places in a scooter/motorcycle thing.Cuz when my aunt came on her scooter, he just hopped on like he'd been doing it for years.I think he's older than 1, somewhere betweem 1-3.. :-? The reason he was probably dumped was cuz he's not a little puppy anymore..or cuz he's a little dog aggressive. When he was following me home he just had to stop and growl at every dog he passed...It's Monday and he's out there, whining and barking..  I HATE MY GRANDMA! :x
17. :o  The nerves of these people! :x And a fine?ONLY?Or a year in jail? They call that enough???ughh!! :bad-words: Poor dogs
18.

Oh!And I read somewhere that if you take the thing that your dog is chewing on that is not allowed and hit it(NOT the dog), say bad "whatever it is", then the dog will probably not chew it anymore..I'm not sure if it would work though :-?
I read that too in "The Idiot's Guide to Choosing, Training, and Raising a Dog". I tried that at some point...it really didn't work. Roxie looked very confused and after I put the object down, about a couple minutes later she proceeded to (cautiously) walk over, sniff the object, then pick up. Although that idea sounds good in theory - it really doesn't seem to work!(at least in my case it didn't!) They had the rotating toys suggestion in that book too. I find that idea works very well because some people have a gazillion toys laying around and then they can't figure out why the dog chews on everything but the toys! Besides the fact that the dog becomes bored with all the toys, it also becomes very confused as to which toys belong to it and which are YOURS. What worked best with Roxie was to teach her the "leave it" command and whenever she chewed on anything (whether it be hers or mine - I didn't want her to start to pick up forbidden objects for attention) I would just tell her leave it, then switch it with one of her toys or sometimes give her a treat and praise. She still chews on things sometimes - but not furniture anymore, just little things like gloves and napkins. She can't help herself! Although I know that she definitely understands what belongs to her and what is mine because she immediately puts down a "forbidden object" and looks guilty when I walk into the room.
I tried that too...and it wprked...I think I looked really stupid when I did it..I mean, what normal person would be hitting a toy and screaming at it? Duck never got near the forbidden thing again.. :D
19. My dad said he belongs outside...I argued...didn't work.. My grandma says if I let him in again, she'll hit him with a broom.. He's right outside the door right now.. :( I feel so bad....that I can't do anything..
