No Carol, you are not imaginating this. My Chin did the same thing. (pee at least 5 to 10 times per walks to get treats) Or so I tought, but now that I don't have to give her a treat for each pee, she still does it. It took around 10 months or so for her to be housetrained, but now she makes the nicest dog I could wish for. She is affectionnate, does her business outside, plays with my husband and myself, and what I really appreciate of her is that she barely barks. (Once in the morning to get out of her cage and that is it) She still does not get along with the cat, but I think that they agreed to disagree (the endure each other and that is all I can hope for) I really love my dog. 2. Is there any arguments for the fence? Is everyone against it? Just asking.....LOL....
3. What do you think about this? is it OK? I looked and the SPCA approves of it, so it cannot be that cruel. I would need one because my dog found a way out of our fence and I live in a place where there is lots of traffic (the dog could easily get hit by a car or worse, get stolen or lost) Need opinions here.
4. Is that something that exists only in the States? Never heard of that ...
5. Thank you everyone for your ideas. I will try them. (Well, maybe not the squatting K.  I don't think my family would understand that one) I know I need more patience, but patience has never been one of my virtues, not even with my children. I hope she clicks real soon. I am running out of ideas and patience. Yes, she loves going for walks. When she sees me take out the collar for outside, she jumps all over the place. What I do then is put the collar on, take the special treats and a plastic bag. Before I open the door, I take her small paws and scratch on the door saying outside. (hoping she will catch on and scratch the door too when she needs to go) up to now, nothing. I know, patience patience :o :o :o
6. Sorry K, I too am from another country than U.S.
7. Please, someone answer. Am I doing the correct thing?
8. Help. Chin Chin did it again. I don't what else to do to get her to be housetrained. I am now getting her on walks 3 to 4 times a day. (Because for some reason, she now refuses to do her business in the backyard) Even with all those walks and all the love I can give her, she managed to pee on the little carpet in the bathroom. Twice, once yesterday where right after she had done it, I took her outside and reinterated that outside was for pee. "Pee outside.... Outside Pee..." I don't know what else to do. When she does it outside, I reward her with a special treat, and praise her. When she does it inside, I just take her outside, try to reinterate that I want her to do her business outside. This time, I waited until she was outside (being ignored by everyone) before I took the carpet to be washed. Again.... I don't what else to do... Any ideas out there?.... I try everything. Hope you will not misjugde me like last time. I am not cruel with my dog, I really love her but cannot stand for her to do her business inside. Does the fact that she peed twice at the same place mean anything. Other than the fact she is stuborn and refuses to be clean...
9. Congratulations. Both you and the dog are very lucky. What a nice dog. Take really good care of each other. Hope to hear from you both very soon. Micheline

Nice to hear from you Carol. I have only one Chin (Thank god) and yes, they are very stuborn (Almost as much as I am according to my husband :) ) I am also very happy to learn that the fact that she is not totally housetrained is not entirely my fault. (this is my first dog and I don't know exactly what to do). for now, she is the one who has me trained. We go for walks 3 times a day. Once between 8:30 and 11:30. Another between 2:30 and 4:00 and a last one after 8:30 p.m. that way, I don't get to pick up any business in the house. But, again, that is her training me. She is still not asking for the door. (Even if every time we go outside, I take her little paws and scratch on the door saying outside. and when she does her business, I congratulate her and give her a special treat) On that subject, I think Chin Chin does many pees throughout our walk to get more treats (Can a Chin do such a thing or am I imaginating things?) Anyway, nice to hear from you and hope everything goes well with your little compagnions. Hope to hear from you soon Micheline

I have a few questions for you. Where are you from? What country? Why did you choose a Japanese Chin? Did you have a problem finding one?
14. Good thing I was able to make you laugh today Gordonmom. Yes, that is what I meant. Please read what I mean not what I write. I don't concentrate that much but can still think ok. :D :D

Japanese Chins

Hi. I too have a Japanese Chin. Her name is Chin-Chin, she is 7 months old. She is tan white and black. Was neutered just last Tuesday. She is a very sweet dog. Tries to please me and all. Very quiet. ONlY PROBLEM. She does not want to be housetrained. We are managing, but the reality of it is that she is housetraining me. I know about what time her pees and poos are going to be and I take her for a walk around those times. Now she does not even want to go in the backyard for her business. Do you have the same problem with yours? Are they housetrained and if so, how did you do it.
