1. Bk, I must be getting tired, I read that as "Mr sweaty toungued mad tooth"! Of course it didn't make any sence, but it took me reading it a fourth time to actually see what it said!

Corgi, I'll ask around the vets and see what I can come up with :D
3. Neither of my dogs ever wear a collar when they are in the backyard, I think the whole collar mark thing that happens with their fur doesn't look nice and I also just prefer to keep them uncollard. Lily has a name tag on her collar so that when we're walking if she gets away whoever finds her can return her straight away. Of course they are both microchipped. I suggest if you're worried about bk that you get him a name tag and keep it on him for a few weeks just until you know if he'll find a way out or not.
4. I think that the bleeding generally lasts for a week, and it is the two weeks or so after that that you really have to watch out, as this is when they are ready to mate. You've also gotta be ready for a possible phantom pregnancys and mood changes etc that come after the heat cycle

Sorry, I didn't know that it was common practice over there to spay after the first season. The vets here reccomend they get done before the first season to prevent cancer later in life. Makes sence to me.
6. He is absolutly gorgeous! Give him big hugs from me and big sloppy, drooly licks from Lily  Congrats, how old is he?
7. Deep, would you by any chance be talking about http://www.neapolitan.com/ Seeing as you've looked alot into them, do you know if they are dog agressive? I'm planning on getting one when I have a good job and alot of money to spare, but wont if it may hurt my boxers.

Although I've never met one, if I ever do I will never take my dogs to them. These vets are probably slack and not very well trained. I would assume the reason for this is because it is easier to operate when a dog has matured and so they don't want to do it the hard way.

Why do people always insist "it doesnt hurt the dog"? Ear cropping, stripping, plucking poodles ear hairs.... OF COURSE IT HURTS!!! What, just because they don't say 'ouch' they don't feel the pain? On another note, mouse, getting a dog spayed after its first season is a BAD IDEA! Waiting for the bitch to go into season once increases the likelyhood of ovarian cancer by 40%!!!!! Each time the bitch is in season after that it increases more and more.
10. The collie is 27 years old. I think the woman with the Pomeranian must be dreaming.... how old is she??? I've heard something about a vegetarian dog food in the making, that was a few years back so I guess maybe its out now. I don't see how people can get away with making a vegetarian dog food, its outright WRONG and I wouldn't be suprised if there is an uproar and it gets taken off the market. I makes me so mad when people push their beliefs on dogs!!! :x

LOL, does that mean we can call you woody then? In that case I name myself Mushy, as my head feels like nothing but mush today! :-?
12. Well deep, that makes me 4 months older than you! 8) There is a lab they use here as a drug sniffer dog, every time it enters the nightclub you should see the people run! Then when its gone I'll hear storys from second person how the dog got 'em! Good dog! :D
13. See, THAT is why my number one choice of food when I can afford it is BARF!!!! I know exactly whats in it and can monitor what they eat. Also because they look healthyer than ever when they're on it! No need for grains, carbohydrates etc, as dogs convert fat into carbohydrate. The only reason pet food companys use any form of grain, no matter how 'good' they say the particular grain is, is as a filler, not because it benefits the dog in any way. This has been proven to me by the abundance of energy in my dogs after feeding a 100% grain free diet for a few weeks, and they had more energy than when they were on dog food! Carol, the fish meal would have been added for vitamin A and other minerals fish provide and the vitamin E is added as a preservative, rather than ethoxyquin.

Bk, you heard me loud and clear! Schwarzkopf it is then :-? Can't help you with the human shampoo though, I hear alot of people say its not balanced for the ph of a dogs skin etc etc etc but if he's not having any skin problems and you rinse him well I can't see any harm in it

Thats bad, will I do without Pantine??? Might go back to Schwartzcoff (no idea how to spell it...) Well, when Lily was a pup she had dandruff so I bought her this $20 a bottle shampoo and conditioner (the bottles are only 227mLs!) but they were half price  Anyway, they have oatmeal in them, the shampoo in called Allergroom and the conditioner is Epi-Sooth. They smell really yummy, good enough to eat! Although I havn't done the taste test yet... Tessa just uses whatevers around. I havn't tried it yet, but apparently Wool Wash is one of the best things to use, its a natural flea repellant, smells nice and doesn't strip the coat - nor does it cost $20 for a tiney bottle!
16. Interesting fact - although by NO MEANS do I want to encourage vegetarian dogs! - the oldest dog in the world is a VEGETARIAN border collie in Brittain. It must have a VERY carefully thought out diet, combine that with luck and good genetics.... I still find it hard to believe. Its a bad thing though, how many people will hear this and put their dog on a vegetarian diet? I wish that story had never been published...
17. Egg, about what you mentioned about vets reccomending Science Diet, how many vets do you know who study dog nutrition? Not many, while attending vet school they do get lectured on nutrition, only for a very short time, and all lectures are from pet food representatives. They sell what they are told to sell, plus 40% of the profits made by selling this expensive food goes directly to them! The rest goes to the company who makes it, leaving the quality of food that goes into it very poor - they want profit, with the vets making 40% of the profit if they used quality ingredients they would be left broke. So fillers and by products it is, the dogs don't care - so why should they? Also what you said about not feeding BARF because you wouldn't be able to switch back to commerciall food is incorrect. I fed BARF for a little while, the dogs loved it and had never been healthyer, but at the time it was too expensive and very inconvenient. Now Tessa is on supercoat (an australian brand, using meat as its prime ingredient and rosemary as a natural preservative - no ethoxyquin) and Lily is on Eukanuba. I have her on that to fix any tummy probs she had, its done wonders but I am going to switch her to Pro Plan, as it is made in australia and I know the ingredients are fresh, as I know one of the representatives who has been in the factory. Rowie, my sisters Poodle was on Nutrience for a while, she didn't do too well on it. Her coat didn't improve and she was always constipated. Personally I think it is over priced, also herbs may be used in small quantitys, but if used over a long period of time they build up and create problems. Maybe it would be benificial for two or three months a year, but for every day of every day of the dogs life is too much. Once I have settled into my job and I know how much I'm being paid etc the dogs will definately be back on BARF, in my experience there is no better food.
18. I think it is the non working kelpies that bark alot. All the obedience classes I have been to there have been kelpies or kelpie crosses who just bark and bark. Dogs that are born to work and don't have propper mental stimulation often pick up bad habbits, like barking or digging.
19. Thats a beautiful kelpie Hobbit. There is a kelpie up the road that crouches whenever it wants you to throw a ball, and then when you do the dog crouches before the ball and only picks it up and brings it back on command. It came from a farm but its owner moved into town, I think it would have been a beautiful working dog.
20. LOL Bk, must be your computer cauz I can see 'em just fine! 8)

Dangerous dog

Many ACD's bark and nip as they chase, not hard nipping, just gentle but this could be threatening to certain people. Roo does have a point. The reason the dog was distressed was because she is very close to her owner, and her owner was on holiday and couldn't take her. I guess the person who was housesitting just opend the front door and off she went. You can't proove that a dangerous dog isn't dangerous, unfortunatly. I guess this is just one of those things that really shouldn't have happend, but just did :(
22. lol, GO BK!!!!!!! 8) But seriously, that is terrible abusser. The worst feeling is the helplessness, knowing that the bastards can get away with it and there is nothing you can do. Do they have kids? Maybe you should send one of them away in a bag! They are lowlifes, don't let 'em get to you anymore. Look to the future, forget the past in situations like this. You're in a good place now and hopefully those idiots next neighbours will give 'em hell!!!
23. What was that K? :-?
24. LOL Tiggerress, you beat me to it! Nice to see you as a member now hobbit :D Gorgeous dog in the picture, looks a bit like my Tessa!
25. Good idea Mei Mei, only problem is, she knows the glass is there!!! She'll sit there with her nose against the glass, and as soon as she sees Meeko she takes a step back and BANG!!!! I think her thick brick head must make her resistant to pain.
