In Poland, care of homeless and abandoned animals is a statutory responsibility of city authorities, and it seems that Piotrkow’s authorities have gravely neglected this fact.[/COLOR][/FONT] [COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]Piotrkow animal shelter is the example of a place where no standards are met – it lacks money for necessary repairs and costs of treatment, vaccination and sterilization of about 250 dogs that are being kept there.[/FONT][/COLOR] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]The only advantage of this place is its workers and volunteers who fight everyday for food and founds for treatments and vaccinations. [/COLOR][/FONT][B][FONT=Verdana]As you can see on the enclosed photos, people who work there are forced to beg and sell scrap in order to have any means for animals.[/FONT][/B][COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana] Piotrkow authorities decided to compensate their superhuman efforts and devotion by deciding to [B]close the shelter down[/B]. This decision is very controversial as the building of a new, modern shelter has been planned in Piotrkow for a very long time; moreover there are founds from the city budget, and a new location for this investment. However, some local deals and animosities have destroyed those plans.[/FONT][/COLOR] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]Now Piotrkow authorities are considering the possibility of moving animals to the animal shelter in Belchatow, which, as we were informed, has no conditions to take such a big amount of animals in.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]Piotrkow authorities are planning to give funds for extension of the Belchatow shelter, rather than to build a new, modern shelter in Piotrkow. We do not accept such a practice, as we strongly believe that it is highly detrimental, moreover it is a waste of public funds. [/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]The city animal shelter is planned to be closed down in autumn. Until now, no steps demonstrating city’s will to resolve the problem were taken. We do not know if the new shelter will be built. What will happen with the animals? Will they be put to sleep, or eliminated as if they were useless things? It does not seem to interest Piotrkow authorities. [B]It is a shame that such a situation takes place in a civilized country, which is a member of the European Union.[/B] It is a shame that foreign organizations such as German Hundehilfe are more interested in these animals’ fate than the local authorities are. And it is a shame that the city which takes part in “Teraz Polska” competition (“Now Poland”), has such a cruel policy on these homeless animals.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]On the enclosed photos you can see the poor conditions that exist in Piotrkow animal shelter. The city authorities are responsible for such a dramatic situation. In Poland, there are many smaller cities, with lower incomes that have proper shelters[/COLOR][/FONT][COLOR=black][FONT=&quot][FONT=Times New Roman], [/FONT][/FONT][/COLOR][FONT=Verdana]which are not beneath people nor animal dignity. In Piotrkow animal shelter, the only, unquestionable good side are wonderful people - workers and volunteers. The animals, often having traumatic experiences, sick, tortured and tormented are given there a chance for a normal, new life. We wanted to make you aware of the fact that you cooperate with those to whom the fate of the animals is absolutely indifferent.[/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]We would be very grateful, if you undertook all possible measures to show Piotrkow authorities that their policy is harmful for everyone – citizens as well as the animals and that such a neglect is completely unacceptable for a member of the European Union.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][COLOR=black]Yours faithfully,[/COLOR][/FONT]

Słuchajcie, kto jeszcze dołozy grosza na kamerę? Ja w tym tygodniu wpłącę jakiś grosz, ale to kamery nie kupi, może zrobimy zbiórkę? Kamerą można tyle dowodów zebrać, może by przyspieszyła sprawę? Może na zbiórkę założyć osobny wątek - co myślicie?

Mruczusiowi właśnie dorobiłam plakatów - jutro zalaminuję, bo pogoda jest ostatnio zmienna. A za kotke trzymam kciuki bardzo gardzo mocno - wygląda fatalnie :-(
