Guest Mutts4Me Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Has anyone gone to see Unleashed? It's an odd movie about a boy who is trained from a young age to be an attack dog, a human pit bull of sorts... Jet Li plays the adult Danny, who wears a dog collar, lives in a cage, speaks little, and eats with his hands. His mobster "master" takes Danny with him to collect on debts, and if they don't have the money for him, he takes off his "dog's" collar and sics him on them, martial arts style. One guy who witnesses this proposes that Danny be used in pit fighting, where two humans get put in a cement pit and fight to the death... One of Danny's collar's has an emblem that looks like a cropped Pit Bull head. The movie is about the "attack dog" getting loose and being rehabilitated by Morgan Freeman and his stepdaughter... and what happens when Danny's "master" relocates his missing prizefighter. I don't know if this should be in here or the NDR section; it's an odd movie (with an incredibly odd premise)... But really, you could almost insert a Pit Bull in Jet Li's place in many scenes, and it would make sense. I saw it last night and have read a couple reviews where the reviewer refers to Danny as a "human pit bull." Anyone seen it? Thoughts? Quote
DogPaddle Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I have seen the comercials only. The plot seemed a little bit juvenile or maybe simplistically overdone or something, however, Jet Li is interesting to watch. I think I'll rent that one instead of seeing it in theatres. As for the human pit bull thing . . . maybe, might, possibly do some good - people might think twice about the pit fighting issue but I doubt it. Quote
