I have a 5 month old American PitBull and I go places and they say "your dog is going to turn on you" and I'm like you know what you dont know my dog or its breed, you are just an inconciderate person that watches to much t.v. then I walk away.

I dont know what to do.... I feel like I'm not doing my part for my puppy.
What do you all do??? :(

I know how you feel about people discriminating certain breeds, i have the same happen to me (but with looks). I took my now' 3 year old Bullmastiff Charlie to be neutered in September last year, and while my husband and myself where in the surgery waiting, (which was full) a lady across the room sitting there with her lap dog, gave my Bullmastiff a dirty look..(i could have said something, but i thought to myself why should i, she is nothing but just a waste of space). She was the only person in the room who didnt give Charlie any attention....a man sitting near the door smiled at my boy, and with that Charlie walked over to him rested his head in his lap, the man then put his arms round Charlie and gave him a hug, (i thought how nice)!
Whether the man knew the breed or he could see Charlies friendliness towards everyone, it was unusual to see that!:)

You are best to ignore people who use remarks like that, they obviously dont know the breed only by what they hear in the press, because of immature owners!

Try putting a pretty bow on your dog - makes it less threatening. Then when people say stuff like that just look blank for a moment and then say 'oh you must be talking about abused dogs with bad owners' and smile at them with a 'my dog is ....' and pick an appropriate thing obedience trained, a CGC title holder, a therapy dog whatever you work on with this dog.
funny thing is the dreaded breed of the moment is always denigrated this way - I remember when it was cockers, and st bernards, and dobermans and german shepherds turn to have that kind of thing said about them.

Bull Mastiff!! They are so cute! I just dont understand how people are so descriminative towards certain breeds of dogs. I dont think they have anything else better to do! I mean the more I think about it I think people descriminate towards types of dogs becuase they want to look like they know everything about ALL dogs. That is the best exsplination I can make up. And the best part of your response is the immature owners! That is so true, people that dont know what they are doing are the the main problem!

That is such a good idea! I am sick of having everyone saying my preaty baby is a boy, maybe i put a bow on here! Thats a good idea! Thats true all dogs go through this bad rap thing dont they, hopefully pitbulls get out of it....knowing my luck they wont....I just feel so bad for my puppy. She will be sitting there being so good and someone will say that and I swear she hears it. Her attitude changes and she just wants to be alap dog.So then I have to make her happy again and give her lots of love and treats and play even more with her!! :D Which I have no problem doing!

There is a petition at www.petitiononline.com/mdbsl/petition.html
All those with similar concerns about protecting their APBT should visit this website and sign. While it currently pertains to Miami, it affects all those even traveling through Miami that have a pitbull with them. It should also be of concern to anyone who even owns a dog. Who's to say your breed won't be the next one they decide to ban! Please, for the sake of the good owners out there that consider these beautiful creatures their family members, please sign! Thank you.
