1. I thought so. :D So is Mollie. Pit/Beagle to be exact.
2. What kind of dog is Bailey? He/she looks just like my Mollie:
3. I always told myself after years of living in apartments that if I ever owned a house I wanted a dog. When I bought my house I went to the local HS. I had a list of what I wanted, and a "pit bull type dog" was DEFINITELY not one of them as I believed all the hype. BUT....there was Mollie. Pit bull/Beagle mix making goo-goo eyes at me from her kennel. I'd like to say I chose her, but really, she chose me. I couldn't resist her and brought her home. Shortly after, I met one of my neighbors' dogs. Pure American Pit Bull Terriers both of them, and I fell in love. I wanted a puppy and she gave me the name of her dogs' breeder. I contacted her. She put me on her waiting list and six months later I got Desmond. I like all dogs, but as long as I have the physical stength to handle them on walks and such, I will always have a pit.
4. I came home from running errands one day (I work at home) and Desmond was no where to be seen. Mollie was there, but not Desmond. Now, my dogs are never in the yard unsupervised, we leave them inside when we leave the house, doors locked, windows shut, etc. Well, needless to say, I started to panick. Did he get out? How? Did someone break in and steal him? There's no sign of forced entry and they would have taken Mollie too, and she's still here. I actually went out in the street calling out for him. My neighbor across the street heard me and came out. I told him Desmond was gone. He said, "Was he wearing his tags? Maybe call the pound" In the house I went, almost in tears now, and went upstairs to my office to get the phone book. I open the door to the office, and.......WALA.......there's Desmond! I must not have shut the door the whole way when I left and he must have pushed it open (probably looking for me) and then it shut behind him. ***sigh*** My neighbor got a good laugh at my expense when I told him. Most embarassing moment: Anytime an important client comes over to the house and one of my dogs farts. :o
5. I get all the usual comments and questions that most pit bull owners do, but I have to quote two responses from another pit bull owner that I read on another message board because I though they were hilarious. I don't remember the person's name, so I hope they don't get mad if they read it here. Person: Is that a pit bull? Him: Yes Person: You don't fight it do you? Him: I used to, but the last time I did he kicked my *ss, so I don't anymore. Person: What a cute puppy (petting puppy) what kind of a dog is it? Him: Pit bull Person: Oh! I didn't realize they were such cute puppies, they're so ugly when they're adults Him: Yes. I bet you were a cute baby once too.
6. 3 or 4 mts old and you gave it up cause it was biting too hard?!?!?!? Haven't you ever heard you have to teach dogs bite inhibition with humans? I'm with cheecky, I'm quiting this thread before I say something that gets me banned.
7. I've had a Pekingese, 2 mixed breeds and an American Pit Bull Terrier. Dogs I'd like to have one day: Pit bulls, always, but I also like Rotties, Beagles and Boston Terriers. Really, I like all dogs, and could probably never turn down a dog of any breed if I had the space, time and money for it, but it's only human to have your favorites.
8. His remarks just go to show how most people consider pets "disposable". Aack! I hate that!
9. It may not be "proper pit bull temperament" but, you know what, it was his fault that he waited for so long to get rid of his ex-roomate and so he contributed to the dog's problems. He OWED it to that dog to work with it. That's how I felt with Desmond. I owed it to him to give him a chance. He didn't chose to have my ex-idiot around, I did. And, you know what, all the work I put into him at the time and that I STILL put into him has paid off.
10. The only one I've got to contribute since my dogs HATE being dressed up. Desmond - AMERICAN Pit Bull Terrier It only took me about half an hour and a bucket of sweat to get this one!
11. I believe in Karma. He'll pay the price someday.
12. I have a very strong opinion about this. When I first got Desmond (at 6 wks of age) I was in an abusive relationship. When I found out the a-hole was abusing my dogs as well, I couldn't get rid of him quickly enough, but it made Desmond VERY fear aggressive toward men. I hired a personal trainer with TONS of experience with pit bulls and we worked our butts off. Now he's MUCH better and has even been known to lick strange men to death wiggling his butt all the while. I have no patience with people that are too lazy to work with their dogs and take the easy way out. In my opinion, that's exactly what your friend did. It's dispicable.
13. A lot of us pit bull people call our dogs "pig bulls" for their tendency to want to eat anything and everything. Especially when the humans are trying to eat in peace.

15. What a cutie. I hate people sometimes. How can ANYONE let a puppy like that wander the streets alone.
16. This is Mollie: I lived in apartments for a long time and always told my self I'd get a dog if I ever owned a house. So, when I bought my house, off I went to the Humane Society. I had the following ideas in mind for the kind of dog I'd get: 1) Short fur 2) Medium size 3) 2 yrs of age or under 4) Absolutely no pit bulls or anything with pit bull in it! Well, there was Mollie in her kennel, a 4yr old Pit/Beagle mix making goo-goo eyes at me. I took her out to the area where they let you hang out with the dog. She was sooooo sweet and playful and would roll over on her back so I'd pet her tummy and she made me laugh rolling around on the grass and making funny noises. Well, at least I stuck to the short fur, and medium size. And as far as the "no pit bull" thing, Mollie and the dogs of one of my neighbors convinced me otherwise and less than a year later I ended up with Desmond my American Pit Bull Terrier and am now a total "Pit Bull slut"! 8)
17. Rotties are my second fave breed! (Sorry, pitties are my fave :) ) I've never met a mean one either. Being a pit bull owner, I HATE it when people jump to conclusions about a dog because of its breed whatever that breed might be!
18. Where I live ther's a Big Dog parade on the first saturday of June every year. The winners last year dressed up like the characters from Scooby Doo and had a Great Dane with them that was "Scooby" Your dog is very handsome. Love the costume!
19. We all know those rubber chickens are EVIL and must be killed!!! Gorgeous dogs.
20. Wow, it's taken me half an hour to read this whole thread. All I can do is add to the "cute pit bull" pics as anything I could possibly add has already been said: Desmond as a puppy: "I can't believe you're doing this to me, Mom" Being mauled by a child: About to be mauled by a cat: "Leave me alone with my teddy!"
