1. Ohh it was not this exact article...no email address ;) I emailed them asking them for a follow up...now weather they will do it or not -- I am hoping!
2. Ohh wow ROTT what an awful story  That is horrible and I would bet not one of those rotties growled at the deputy. He was just saving his @$$! As for banning Rotties...why? I mean come on they are not that bad...! There use to be one in our agility class...sweetest thing there was. Rio (my over friendly golden) ran off from me on the course at class and ignored my recall and went to visit the rottie. She jumped full force on top of him and he grabbed her cheek. The great thing about it was that he is sooo nice he did not even leave drool on her face and let go right away. Now it served her every bit of what she got...and ya know what I am sitting her ever so thankful that she chose the Rottie rather than the pointer mix as the pointer mix would have taken her face apart. So they ban the rotts but what about that mixed breed that is much more likely to eat your dog? The pointer mix at agility likes to have her space ... in which she would not have had with Rio jumping on her...I know for sure had Rio picked her she would have had to have multiple stictches...now with the Rott...not even a mark on her face. This is B*ll Sh*t! People are idiots...Wish we could ban all non dog people from this world! And that deputy would be one of the first on my list! :evilbat:
3. Most certainly! Someone else posted this story a couple days ago....
4. Would not know a thing about those rowdy goldens....! Yeah for you Cody!! :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :klacz: :laola: :laola: :laola: :smilecolros: and this one just cause I never saw it -- :rocol:
5. Thankies...this guy that lost his baby pugs is the creator of Showdog.com. It is a really awesome sim game that I am involved with and we have heard so much about these two rotten puglets...but now this :( They have been missing overnight which does not sound good. I am still praying though!
6. [Please feel free to cross-post this information anywhere you feel appropriate] We live in San Antonio and had a wedding to attend in Houston on Saturday, December 13th. Rather than travel with our five-month old sister Pugs, we decided to leave them with my parents who live approximately 30-minutes South of San Antonio. We warned them numerous times that they would attempt to explore if allowed outside but unfortunately, somebody left the front door cracked open. They had been on the loose for six-hours before we were able to drive back from Houston after being told. Unfortunately, despite about an eight hour search, nothing was turned up. I fear that our only hope is that they got to the nearby highway and were picked up by somebody passing through. The area around my parent
7. I belive people can take their dogs into the shelter and ask for them to be put to sleep immedietly. They just pay a small fee?? I belive. Any how it upsets me terribly what this poor dog had to go thru so that people WANT to adopt it   I think that 50 people calling just because this one dog is so special is ridiculous. There are probably 49 other dogs sitting in that same shelter that even though now they are not miracle dogs they still could be during their long lives ahead. The 49 people who are not going to get this miracle dog probably are not going to even consider another poor soul from that shelter....until it survives what the lab mix survived! This is ridiculous, sad, horrible, and in some bitter sweet way happy. One dog is now going to have a 3rd maybe even 4th chance at life. I am just hoping that at least half of those 49 people who wanted the 'miracle' dog will realize that all dogs can preform miracles and check out some of the other darlings in the shelter.
8. The Culrure Clash -- Jean Donaldson is one of the best books out there. It has been reccomended to me so many times! It does not deal with just aggression but with other things too. Check your library or order it online. Ohh my petsmart had it and if ya have a borders they will order it and have it shipped to the store (ya do not have to pay shipping). I am sure there are more out there...I have not had to deal with aggression problems...but will try reading some of the other books recomended....gonna start learning just incase. It sounds like you already know that beating the dog will not help....just try and convince your dad! Beating/hitting will only make the aggression worse!
9. Well the spanish/english dictionary :o We found 'Rio' which in spanish meant River and planned her registered name around that. Her full name is -- Sierras (mom) Rio De Oro. It means River Of Gold in spanish. So that is how Rio got her name. It was also between Arizona ( as we use to live there and have friends that tell us 'There is no Arizona' from the song  ) so we were going to prove her wrong. There were a couple more that did not make it....but Rio was the one ;)
10. Personally I like this dogs looks. I can see the Great Dane jumping out for sure! I do not agree with the Temperment standard but with eduacated owners and trainers that can socialize them and control them LOL I think they could be a resonable breed. ...and yes it probably will add more horror stories to the APBT's bad rap. Which is sad ...
11.
Agreed Kiger.. To be honest from what I have read, you need to concentrate on your own dog and be grateful for your dog that he is there. The flitting from one breed to another gives me an impression of immaturity. Sorry if that is blunt, but as a canine behaviourist, I see many dogs with boredom related problems because the kids beg compulsively and then get bored, and take no responsibility. You may or may not be like that but in the space of one week, you have gone from wanting a Border Collie to a NSDTR to the latest; English bulldog. These are all dogs that are very different. Spend some time at your local animal shelter if you are desperate to be near dogs, perhaps a dog will be meant for you there.
Agreed... It sounds to me like the dog you have is not being properly cared for as is and with a cute adorable puppy around will probably be pretty much ignoted except for the ocassional pat on the head. I read that Duke loves to wander...what happens when a puppy of any of these breeds that you've listed decides to wander with Duke and is not as careful as Duke and runs out in the road or gets himself lost from Duke. Then What??? In My Own Opinion -- 1) Be greatful for the dog you have. Teach him how to behave and stay in his yard. Just doing agility with him is not going to make him anymore of a well behaved dog. Teach him tricks, obedience, anything and especially teach him to stay in the yard!! It sounds like he has already made Shara mad and who knows what other neighbors! 2) Learn and study different breeds (weather your interested in them or not) Learn all you can about different breeds. Educate yourself on training dogs, dog behavior, dog breeds, dog activites, anything and everything about dogs...then when your moved out and on your own and are able to dedicate yourself totally to a dog You will know alot about dogs and will be able to decide on a breed... 3) Your parents seem like they do not much care for Duke and they only 'tolerate' him. Well what is going to happen to the puppy while your gone puppies need constant supervision I mean 24/7 ! Are your parents going to want to let him out every 2 hours...are they going to want to pay medical bills or food bills?? It sounds like NO! I just ask that your pass on this dog thing ( I am not trying to be mean) and focus on the dog your lucky enough to have. Wait untill your on your own and financially stable... it will be a long wait but in the end it will make that moment even more worth it! Focus on Duke and look to give him the best that you can give him! He deserves it!
12. I am with K and all the rest. You brought these pups upon your dog so you need to be there to help her thru no matter what. And are you planning on the pups to be on time?? What if her labor is delayed and she does not deliver the pups while you are there. What if she is home alone and has problems delivering her pups?? You in the end could loose all your pups and the mother! :( I think that this wedding needs to be 2nd on your list and that your pup and her pups need to be NUMBER ONE! Hope that you follow the advice given...it is good advice! Ohh and also -- suppose she is late delivering and you have to leave...even if you have someone stay 24/7 at the house with her she does not know them and will not feel nearly as comfortable with them as she would her 'momma'. Some dogs never are aggresive but when they have pups they do not trust people they have only been around a little. You need to be there with her!
13. Ok the breed of the Golden Retriever Good: 1) Most are easily trainable and have the 'want to please' personality. when I say most I am excluding my baby who has been a little on the stubborn side and only has the 'want to please' personality when it works for her :D 2) Most are very good with kids and love being played with my girl falls in this category 3) Goldens are very sociable and friendly dogs. 4) They are family dogs and love EVERYBODY and forms stron bonds with them. 5) They make great foot warmers!! Bad: 1) They are highly popular and many end up being euthanized because of over population. 2) They require lots of grooming and shed 24/7 3) Lots have ear problems that require their ears to be cleaned often. 4) They have major distraction problems that require hard never ending work to over come. 5) They are very close to their owners and have to be in the same room with you. ( they do not make good outside dogs as no dog should) Here is my girl Rio!! -- Taurus is a handsome boy!!
14. Not at all-- I would have said the same thing! Most people just do not understand that pups are not just some peice of annoying property but and actuall family member , a child. That is like someone going to her house and saying 'I don't like kids'!! Well luck to your next adventure with the horrible Grandma
15. Well I waited around to try and talk to him about it but I had to go and he was still talking to someone else. Next week I will. He is just a hard headed Jerk who is right about anything he says (such as he does not own a pit mix!) But next week I will still bring it up. I think I may come join you K in the toilet!!
