A female will have a scar running down her belly - when they spay a female they do an entire hysterectomy and remove the uterus completely. A male will have no testicles.

1. Puppies cry all night 2. Puppies have to be housebroken 3. Puppies teethe and chew up everything in sight 4. Puppies have to be completely trained 5. Puppies have to be walked 5 times a day 6. someone (you) has to clean it up when the housebreaking training fails 7. Someone (you) has to train the puppy not to teethe on your hands with those razor sharp little puppy teeth 8. Someone (you) have to clean up puppy bouts with indigestion 9. More hoovering becomes necessary 10. All of the above happens in triplicate with a puppy. Hope that helps!! LOL :drinking:

My son went on to one of the naked lady sites...(he's 16) but didnt realize that I could check the history and found out going through the URL list. I didnt say anything to him, but put in the parental locks and removed those sites, from both his computer and mine. I know he tried again, cuz I heard him say "damn!!" real loud a few days later. He was caught in his own trap - he couldnt ask me how I had locked him out without admitting he had logged in - 8)

He looks exactly like Freebee did when she was a puppy!! same eyes, same white spot, even the white "beard"! Boy, talk about deja vu!! And yes, he is adaorable - but I'm biased!! lol :D

Question aobut something I saw yesterday
courtnek replied to imported_nea's topic in Everything about dogs
I agree the response was wrong., He should have praised the dog for lying down. On another note, the ear pinching (NOT HARD) is a useful training tool - it's how the mother would discipline a pup (with teeth) when it misbehaves. You have to do it carefully though so as not to hurt the dogs ear and I dont like the fact that they are training dogs with it. Most people dont know how to do it correctly....Yanking on the ear is unforgiveable, even a wolf mom wouldnt do that..... -
Even the robot dogs need the batteries changed....

If you want to read an interesting "creepy scary dog story" with a twist, get a copy of Sherlock Holmes: Hound of the Baskervilles. It's basically the same story you told - the huge-as-calf black dog with fiery eyes that is a creature of the devil and haunts the Baskerville Family for the wrong they did to a young girl long long ago. I think you'd enjoy it! :D

That's pretty much what i said Bully- The GSd's the Rotties, and Dobies, they all got marked... The bullies are being marked now..... Hopefully this will pass, when the "macho-I-gottA-HAVE A-TOUGH-DOG" faze will pass..hopefully soon...

BK - THANK YOU!! everyone thinks Goldens are as sweet as pie - most of them are - BUT NOT ALL!! Most people think that all labs are "great with kids" (just like goldens) My Lab mix ISNT...I know that....I dont let children approach her unless she seems willing to see them. And as far as my post about legal responsbility - yes, ALL owners should be legally responsible for what their dogs do. regardless of breed. If I was an ignorant dog owner I would assume that Freebee would be GREAT with kids, because she is part lab....As a responsible dog owner I watch her reactions and realize that SOME kids tick her off. I watch her reactions before I decide if anyone can pet her. If I make a mistake and she bites someone, then I AM RESPONSIBLE. No Matter what.

people can "change their stripes" - we were granted with the ability to choose. Animals are kinda stuck with what nature gave them and what training we can provide. Bully. my rant was not against Pit's, but against people who dont realize that theur animal COULD have aggressive tendencies and needs, like any other animal, to be controlled until those tendencies are proven or denied. We are responsible for them. We need to decide how they behave. I am not saying that it is ONLY Pits with these tendencies, any dog can have them. But Pits have shown themselves to be prone to dog aggression - therefore they need to be handled more carefully and more closely. They need to be watched more carefully. As stated, I have nothing against Pits. But in all honestly there is not alot we can do against breeding and instinct. The dog is not to blame. The owner ( no matter WHAT breed) needs to know how his/her dog will react, and plan accordingly.

Ok people - ENOUGH! I understand being loyal to your breed I understand being obviously upset about your dog being attacked I understand that it is not always the dog's fault.... BUT APBT's are known to be animal aggressive. That is a FACT, it was what they were bred for. THEREFORE - If you have a dog aggressive breed, you need to keep it on lead until you see how it reacts to other animals. The other dogs and owners have a right to be there too, without being attacked. It's not the owners FAULT that the dog is aggressive; it is, however, his RESPONSIBILITY to make sure that his animal does not hurt anyone or anything else. I have nothing against APBT's, except the fact that owners who know nothing about them and let them run free should be held legally responsible for any damage they inflict. Perhaps then people would realize that owning a dog is a responsibility, and YOU are responsible for whatever the dog does.....

Come help destroy the myth of hybrid vigor - AGAIN
courtnek replied to Kiger's topic in Everything about dogs
There is a certain amount of scientific fact supporting the fact that mixed breeds are healthier - it's not completely a myth. The reason is that when man decided to create breeds for specific reasons/looks/responses, (the golden is an excellent example) they bred out some attributes that didnt fit their wants. Not intentionally, but it still happened. Nature has an odd way of giving you so many things you CAN have, and no more.....When the "wild" was bred out of wolves, I believe some of the stamina was too. Without intending to, we bred dogs with bad hips, eye problems, temperament problems, even from dedicated, loyal and good breeders. The "bad" breeders only made it worse, because they took dogs with genetically potential problems and bred them anyway. Those dogs became "problem children" and were labled. German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls; they have all fallen under the knife because of bad breeding or intentional "mis"breeding (for instance, to make them more aggressive). I had a purebred Golden Retriever, sweetest animal on earth, but had typical genetic health problems. I am also concerned (as you all know) with people buying certain breeds of dogs because "they are SOOOO good with kids!!" - They're NOT, unless trained properly and dominated properly. I sent a message to that guy about wanting a Golden with just that warning. People buy labs for the same reason, and then cant understand why the dog bit their kid when it slept on the beds, everyone waited on it hand and foot and it was never made to understand that it was not the Alpha in the household. Dogs are ANIMALS! As much as we love them, we have to understand that. Most of us do, but the novice dog owner is in for a shock if he buys a dog according to "Breed Standards" and it attacks his kid..... -
Shara, my heart goes out to you. I know exactly how you feel, having had to put Alex down.... Alex and Hazel are playing on the bridge, and waiting for us. Know it in your heart. I am So sorry....but we are here for you. Katy

the ear cleaning may have caused a bubbling, popping effect, which she could hear. it didnt hurt her, but she may be afraid of it now. offer her a treat, clean her ears and then give it to her. she will eventually learn that the popping sounds end up being a good thing.

this shows that most people are good at heart - care - and want the world to be a place of peace and love. This weekend was the 'LIITLE ANGELS RIDE FOR EVER" All the "Harley Guys" (the "bad " motorcycle guys" pay a fee to ride int eh ride for the little angles - kids with mental and physical disabilities who live at the Little Angles Center here...there are over 5000 bikes riding every year...the noise is amazing!! You cant miss it or ignore it - you hear it all day long... these guys who are considered "bad" "dangerous" "untrustworthy" show up every year to raise money for these kids.... I am in tears for how we treat people.....
-
I am VERY sad Hazel, but know, that she will understand....I had to put Alex down, for his own good, I had to put Razie down, because of aggression... THEY know we understand, They know we love them, and they know that things could have been worse, if they lived with anyone else.... we gave them all the love we could. they know that. they understand why we have to make these decisions..... they love us. as much as we love them. Life is not always easy..sometimnes we have to make the hard choices.... Believe that they know that, and are waiting for us, when our times come. She will remember how much you loved her...I promise!

I sing to mine - Freebee responds by howling, Alex never cared, just perked his ears...
-
It's actually for a car - I cant remember what kind cuz I was laughing so hard at the dogs!! It's supposed to show amazing handling capability, since the corners are so tight and the dogs are running down alleys - the guy driving has to take tight almost impossible turns to cut the dogs off. When I see it again I'll pay more attention to the type of car - I think it was Japanese - and let you know. :D
-
Actually, I was quite impressed. If you look in the pictures section you'll see one of my very large, ill-tempered, fatcat. (He has a thyroid condition) Just watching him leap off a chair was amazing (he weighs 18 lbs) but seeing him catch the fly, and then flaunt it to Freebee was hilarious!! WHY isnt the video camera ever around when I need it? This was just HILARIOUS!!!

quote: Did you know that there have been reported cases of humans having heart worm....we humans can also be infected with heart worm, but instead of migrating to the heart, the larvae migrate to the lungs. No, I didnt, but it doesnt surprise me. The disease that killed Alex (blastomycosis) can also be gotten by people. We are so close to each other now we can share illnesses.... People used to think it was just rabies.....so many things have been learned since then...
-
OMG!!!! :D :D :D :D The cat watched Freebee try endlessly (and fruitlessly) to catch that fly, then took a flying leap off a chair and caught it mid-air, dropped it, pounced on it, and then turned around, looked at Freebee like "THAT's how its done!" and just walked away....I am crying I am laughing so hard!!!
-
Well, you could try this.... On all the spots where the dogs and cats have gone, put regular black pepper. Not only will that stop your dog from eating it (he will sneeze alot the first time) since they check out each others droppings on every visit after a few sneezing fits they may decide to stop. It's cheaper than a fence, and if you do have to go out at night it would be a good idea to be armed with a garden hose. other than that, I would report it to the police as a nuisance call and a threat to your dog since he is tied and they are not and ask them to watch the property. If you can, put a video camera outside and tape them. Then you have evidence for the police. Good luck p.s. the black pepper wont actually hurt any of them, just makes them uncomfortable for a few minutes. DONT use red pepper - that could hurt them

A fly gets in the house and Freebee almost KILLS herself trying to catch it, while the cat lays on floor and just watches..... My mighty huntress..... LOL :drinking:
   ignorance playing a part in mankind making a mess of things again, this makes me so angry  is there anything we can do to make people aware of the dingo`s plight?
YES!! Hand them the history of the wolf in North America over the last 250 years..... It's the same story, different place.... Maybe some of our naturalists who have studied wolves for so long weould be able to explain it to them. It took a long time here, but people have finally come to the realization that the wolf is not the enemy...
