house trained to wee wee pad training, please help!

I just adopted a deaf 1 year old 35 pound boxer (smaller than most) 4 weeks ago from the pound. The only problem is, I am not allowed to have animals in my apartment, I just couldnt walk away and leave the dog in that kennel knowing it would be put to sleep. The dog is already house trained but I cannot take her out till 6pm when my landlord has already left so she pees and poos in the house or tries to hold it as long as she can. Sometimes I feel so bad and I don't want her to hold it so I take her outside. I have just been lucky that my landlord wasnt walking around. I have been trying to get her to pee on the wee wee pads I bought but she is naturally confused and just pees on the floor. When she does that I shake my finger at her and bring her to the wee wee pad. I have been doing this for 4 weeks now but shes not getting it.

When I leave sometimes in the day I baracade her in the kitchen and put wee wee pads and newspaper everywhere because I read that if you slowly eliminate the papers they will learn to pee just on the paper...but no luck.

Is there something I can do to train this dog to pee outside at night and on the wee wee pad during the day?

this maybe a bit difficult as dogs don't think the way humans do. but a training is worth a try and you should go ahead with it.

Spot on advice, reprimands are unlikely to help. Do ensure that the pads are some distance from the bedding & food bowls.

[FONT=Microsoft Sans Serif]I have a young dog (she's almost 10 months) who's housebroken but I'd like to train her to use puppy pads for random occasions like being stuck in an airport or even to keep us both from having to get cold and wet in the winter rain. I travel quite a bit and plan on taking her with me when I can, so the former scenario is one I'll be running into a lot. She's very smart and generally easy to train but I'm not sure how to get her to understand that it's okay to go on a puppy pad...on my patio for instance. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be eternally grateful. :smile:
