mdtcwarren Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 We have a 5 month old Miniature Schnauzer who is doing pretty well with housebreaking. I have an exercise pen that we keep him in while we are away at work which seems to work. Our problem is that he has started peeing when I or my husband approaches him. Usually I think it is because he needs to go and can't hold it any longer, but sometimes I think it really is a submissive issue. Is there any way that we can stop this? It's getting really annoying, especially when it ends up on my leg or shoe! I've tried not correcting him when he does it, just kind of ignoring it and continuing on in a reassuring manner. Is that the right approach? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Quote

Hofmann Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 No reasure him when he pees is probablly not a good idea as the dog likely sees it as telling him good boy, the tone and manner (not those words). Quote
