1. Heres a pretty realistic article that may be helpful. I want to say I'm not posting this as a bad portrayal of any pit. I absolutely love pits. They are wonderful dogs but I think it would be wrong for this person to breed this dog for MANY reasons. I don't feel they want to do this for the right reasons. Not only are they not responsible enough to train a breed that REQUIRES training, more than likely they know nothing genetically and temperament wise about breeding on top of it. I'm not sure they will choose the right kind of homes for the pups. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a genetic disorder that this dog is suffering from. It could be. It's hard to tell over the internet but I'd have to say from here I think it's more so lack of firm training and pack order understanding. If these people don't train or understand that I can't see them placing these dogs in homes who would as needed either which could in the end be a bad thing for those little lives. This breed if bred at standard conditions needs a firm hand of training. If it was bred with a soft non-dominant wishy washy family companion temperament then it was not in all actuality in my opinion bred to bully standard. This does not mean it has to be aggressive! It should not bite! I want to make that clear about what I mean by that. (Correct me if I'm wrong here on any of this pittie owners. I am not a pittie owner or expert on the breed but I think I know at least that much.) If these people got the dog from a breeder who didn't do much through the interviewing process (saying this because of the lack of concern in training and choices they are making) I'd kind of wonder about the gentics anyway. Taking the name "bully breed" for what it's worth here. It's not a bad thing. They are not by any means bad dogs. They just have to be kept in their place and if you don't do that they will walk all over you. Someone who doesn't have any understand about their own breed (let alone breeding) should not be breeding them in my opinion. This breed has a bad rap (which this family themselves (who want to breed) and own this dog has bought into). A bad rap, because of not only terrible breeding practices but lack of training...hence "punish the deed not the breed" slogan so many people who really do know these days are using. So many pits die every year because of these reasons. Anyway here is the sad article ---------------- Article Published: Sunday, April 04, 2004 Guilty by breed, not by deed Denver's policy of euthanizing pit bulls violent or not faces scrutiny By David Olinger Denver Post Staff Writer Post / Karl Gehring This dog impounded at the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter bears resemblance to a Staffordshire bull terrier, one of the breeds banned in 1989 by the city of Denver. Blue was put to death in Denver for being a dog of a prohibited breed. So were Sasha and Summer and Oreo, although they had attacked nobody. Butch and Peaches survived. Their owner sent them to Aurora, which allows pit bull terriers, before their trip to the Denver dog pound reached a date with a fatal needle. In Denver, one of the largest U.S. cities to ban pit bulls, the list of dogs on death row keeps growing. Last year alone, the city put to death 410 pit bulls; 240 others were returned to owners promising to get their dogs out of town immediately. But the Denver ban, as well as similar ordinances in several smaller Colorado communities, is now under attack at the state Capitol. The challenge, ironically, comes from legislation crafted after three roaming pit bulls attacked and killed a woman in Elbert County and injured two of her friends. Last week, the House approved the bill, which would increase liability for owners whose dogs maim or kill someone. At the same time, it forbids "breed-specific" bans against pit bulls or any other dogs. Rep. Debbie Stafford, R-Aurora, the bill's sponsor, said it punishes "the deed, not the breed," and would end the practice of killing hundreds of dogs that have not attacked anyone. In Denver, 17 of the pit bulls impounded last year had bitten someone. Most of the others were picked up in response to complaints from neighbors, mail carriers or others who spotted dogs from a banned breed within the city limits. The numbers of pit bulls impounded at Denver's animal shelter have grown drastically, from 103 in 1999 to 652 last year. Animal control director Doug Kelley isn't sure why. "I think part of it is that people are moving into the city and don't know about the ordinance," he said. "The other reason: We're seeing quite a few repeat offenders come in. If that dog comes back in, chances are that it will be euthanized." Norma Cisneros said she had raised pit bulls in California and was unaware of the Denver ordinance until the city impounded Butch, a year-old male, and Peaches, a 4-month-old puppy, in September. "My dogs were loving," not trained to fight, she said. After they were impounded, "a friend in Aurora took them for me, and he sold them," she said. She hasn't seen them since. The Denver ordinance was enacted in 1989 after a series of pit bull attacks, including the killing of a 5-year-old boy and mauling of a Denver pastor, Kelley said. The law survived a Colorado Supreme Court challenge. "It was the most heated animal-related matter we ever had," said Cathy Reynolds, who served 28 years on the Denver City Council. "Some people showed up with horrible stories about pit bulls and gory pictures of what their jaws had done to young children. Others spoke passionately about their right to own their pets." Post / K.S. Osler A pit bull impounded at the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter waits Friday for its owner, who can save it from execution if a home is found for the dog outside the city limits. Last year, 650 dogs deemed pit bulls by a three-person panel were picked up by the city, of which 17
2. Here is an article I wrote. Submissive Urination Obedience or agility training would be a great confidence booster. It however does sound like rank and territory are your major issues. I'd think more so than anxiety. You may want to try rescue remedy. It may help a little. It's not a cure...of course but I've heard great things about it. Your dog seems to have a pretty extreme case. Have you had him checked for any bladder problems or anything in the past? Kidney issues?
3. Yeah...this dog didn't exactly have the pet like look on his/her face either.

A retriever and a bird???

I think it really depends on the dog. I had a boyfriend who's dad had 4 birds and he had a dane and two mastiff's. All were indoor animals and they did fine together. We've had my lab around all kinds of different animals all her life. She would chase any of them mostly just to sniff but I'd hate to see her actually catch one if I wasn't paying attention. She's more out to play with them and she's curious. I don't think she'd intentionally kill anything but I'm not willing to take that chance. We used to have a bunny named Ben. I kept him out all the time when I was home...or tried to anyway. I figured eventually she would get used to him and leave him alone...espeically with the corrections but about 3 months later she still would not leave him alone no matter what. I hated keeping him caged so much. It just wasn't a good match. She wasn't being aggressive with him or anything but it was stressful for him so I got him a better suited home. I miss him :( He used to kiss my nose. I'm beginning to really like birds. I used to hate them because I got bit really hard once and it broke my skin but I've worked with them a little and I'm starting to get used to them a little more. Socialization and attention is a huge must with raising a bird. I'm sure you already know that. So many people get birds and expect them to just sit in a corner all 80-90 years of their lives and they need lots of attention. I almost think they are even more sensitive in that area than a dog. They can be really affectionate. Personally just working with them, if I got a bird I'd get one from a rescue for lots of reasons but one is that it's neat to see them progress. I worked with a bird once where the owner kept it shut up in a closet all the time. He was so unsocialzed and skittish at first. A real biter. It was quite a learning experience for both of us.
5. I am just completely beside myself with this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3667312549&category=3238&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:US:1#ebayphotohosting Notice they made sure this doberman looked mean on top of it.
6. Animal Rights Activists Promise To Fill Tacoma Courtroom March 30, 2004 By Kevin Reece Video : KOMO 4 NEWS They want to make sure that two men charged with killing a dog using a bow and arrow are given the maximum sentence. PIERCE COUNTY - At a campfire in a Wilkeson, Washington backyard Monday night, locals were still talking about the mayor's son and what he did two weeks ago in the field next door. "They did it out of just pure fun," said Jonathan Davis. "I know they did and that's just how Steve is." Steve is 20-year-old Steve Paulson, a young man already infamous in this rural Pierce County town of roughly 500 people. He and his friend 18-year-old Troy Loney are charged with first degree animal cruelty. They admit they took a Siberian Husky into a field behind Wilkeson Elementary School on March 8th tied it to a tree and shot it with a bow and arrow. But witnesses who reported them to police say they didn't just shoot the dog once. They say, and Paulson admits, that the dog did not die from the first shot. Witnesses quoted in court documents say the two kept "removing the arrow and reusing it to shoot the dog... at least ten times." And that after the dog finally died they disposed of it by throwing it into a river. "I'm not cruel to animals," Loney said in an interview before the animal cruelty charges were filed. "I just figured I would do what was best." Loney and Paulson claim it was a dangerous dog and that they did the neighborhood a favor by getting rid of a nuisance. But several neighbors say the dog was merely a friendly stray. Several also say this is not the first time Paulson has willingly killed animals. "Doing pretty crazy stuff to a rabbit asking her (a friend) to hold it down while it was still alive," said Davis. "Trying to skin it alive, cut it open, gut it pretty much." Both have been in trouble with the law before: Paulson for burglary, theft, malicious mischief, fourth degree assault. This is, however, the first time Paulson or Loney have been charged with animal cruelty. Animal rights activists, organized by Pasado's Safe Haven in Sultan, are organizing a caravan of outraged citizens to attend the arraignment on Friday. They want to encourage prosecutors to seek the maximum possible sentence of five years in prison. "We're hoping that the community is going to act on their rage," Pasado's Safe Haven co-founder Susan Michaels told KOMO 4 News. "To show the prosecutor, the judge and the defendants that this is a crime that will not be tolerated and that we need to use the Pasado law to the full extent of the law." Arraignment for both Paulson and Loney is set for the afternoon of Friday April 2nd in Pierce County Superior Court.

8. Local Shelters Continue To Use Guns To Euthanize Dogs New Law Likely Won't Be Passed This Session It may seem like a cruel way to end an animal's life, but it remains legal in Kentucky to use a gun to euthanize a dog. Dogs Still Being Euthanized By Guns -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Euthanized Dogs: Your Thoughts? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Such incidents continue to happen in the Tri-State, particularly at shelters in rural parts of the state, WLWT Eyewitness News 5's Brian Hamrick reported Wednesday. Kentucky lawmakers have a bill written up that would end the practice, which leaves citizens wondering why it's not been enacted yet. The grim reality is that so many animals pack shelters every year that some shelters find themselves needing to euthanize hundreds of dogs, Hamrick reported. "It's sad and unfortunate that in some counties, this is still a method they need to use," Animal Advisory Board Director Beckey Reiter said. For years, Reiter and her colleagues have been trying to outlaw shooting animals at shelters as a form of euthanasia. "If we have to do it, I feel it's our duty to do it humanely," she said. So why hasn't a law been passed that makes it illegal to kill animals with guns? Hamrick Wednesday spoke by telephone to Ky. Sen. Albert Robinson, who said the choice should be left up to each county. "You don't require them to use a needle to end the life of this hog or this cow or this pork or this beef that you put on your table that you eat every day if you eat meat," Robinson said. "You don't require them to put a needle and say it's inhumane." As more and more animals pack more shelters, another legislative session is ending in Kentucky, and it looks like a new law will not pass again. So while shooting animals at shelters remains legal, those against it remain steadfast, Hamrick reported. "I have to stay optimistic," Reiter said. "It will pass eventually." The average cost of the lethal injection is about $1 per animal, and shelters willing to give up the gun can qualify for state assistance. 10.
i don't own a pitbull, but i still feel qualified to answer. this is a dog forum (see, the word "dog"? d-o-g, also known as canis familiaris), so why would people not vent about the issues they have? do you also spend your free time going to car forums preaching to drivers griping about pedestrians or bicyclists? or going to golf forums trolling people who are complaining about mole infestations on their favorite golf course?
See I wouldn't be suprised to see these things vented on those types of forums. They can be irritating things to deal with having to do with those subjects. My dad is an avid golfer and complainer ( ) so I can see this happening. To me this is more like going to a New Jersey state law discussion forum and complaining that *they* are stupid because *they* aren't discussing California state law. Or going to car forums and getting all righteous because they aren't discussing roller coasters or choo choo trains.
11. And that is what makes you a wonderful person Dog lover. You and everyone else here who has the balls to stand up to someone doing illegal or immoral things. Guest it's not our fault you don't have the guts, balls or brains to know right for wrong and act upon it. Deal with your own cowardistic insecurities elsewhere. Don't scrutinize those here for having good morals and doing what is right. Legally and emotionally. It's not like these people are stealing a candy bar or changing lanes in an intersection. Gimme a friggin break! It is truely a sad sad sick day to see someone have such complete total disregard for life. Kinda makes you wonder what this person is really into since they take such offense at the fact that we do not see our dogs as disposable doormat servants who don't just let people do as they wish to them.
12. Isn't it amazing how often those things get used Loki?   Why do people bother? Geeze get a clue...
13. Buddy you are barking up the wrong tree here... Why are you here? Not for the intended purpous of this forum. You are here to ARGUE. YES you are a TROLL.
and about the chicken comment, it was an example to back up my point. and there are some who said some stupid sh*t in my last topic, but i really dont want to waste the time arguing over some points that were made. (some real stupid ones.)
And you of all people have all the right in the world to judge, don't you? I forgot what you say and how you feel rules over all right? Coming from you your rediculous OPINION, doesn't mean squat.
but the truth is, animals are so abundant that not all of them can be cared for and loved. a lot of dogs probably die in a foreign country. there is nothing you can do. and there is just too many dogs.
So there you go guys...ignore the problem. That will make things better. I'm sure you will go far in life. You sound like a real high achiever. A real go getter. Don't TRY to put the puppy farmer out of business to help the overpopulation problem which is primarily due to these irresponsible jerks. Don't turn the guy in to get him possibly put out of business. That would just be mean and wrong in this guys warped mind.
but like ive said, if u hate a puppy farmer that much to let him die, thats taking it too far. no matter how many sins he committed, it is not ok to kill a person. your dog maybe important to you, but the person dying is more important to his family and friends. nobody deserves to die.
You are for just one time right there. NO BODY including my dog deserves to die. My dog never hurt or would consider hurting ANYONE. My dog is loyal and loving. The puppy farmer however reaks nothing but irresponsiblity, and lack of care for life compassion, love or law. He knows he breaks the law, he knows the suffering he puts life through, he knows that he contributes nothing to society but overpopulation of pets and yet shrugs it off and lets this continue. Screw him. In my mind it's all Karma. You get what's coming to you. Would I expect his family to save my dog...or heck even my family, yeah right. They are completely self absorbed people out solely for personal gain and nothing else. They care nothing about others. Would I save my dog over my cousin, uncle or neighbor...no. I however owe nothing to the puppy farmer who has no care in the world for life aside from their own. Please leave, you are not contributing to a damn thing here. This is not the purpous of this site. THIS ARGUMENT WILL GO NO WHERE no matter how much you continue. Find another hobby and leave our "coincidentally" compromised site since you came about.
14. We were just notified at my site that a another member from here and my forum has also recieved an email spam and it is possibly something sending out emails from her account. Coincidence? I think not...

16. Has anyone else here gotten any emails inviting them to a forum? Normally when I get an email from another forum, it is because they wish to affiliate with me and they say so in their e-mail but this person was just emailing me to invite me. That was more along the lines of spamming. Why didn't they just post it on my board or pm me like everyone else does? I don't know a little funky I think. They didn't state where they got my address from. I'm kind of leary of clickin the link given what happened here and others have viruses floating around. Just curious... 17. I also find it peculiar you can't get into your admin panel...on top of it all as well... It's funny that people have nothing better to do than to waist their time hacking a **dog forum**. What an accomplishment. Get a life. I wonder why they care about a dog forum anyway? That is a true no lifer right there.   Sad and incredibly pathetic.
18. I actually find it odd that on top of everything happening today that ONE thread with all the IP addresses managed to dissappear into thin air. Are you sure it's not possible someone hacked in here somehow?
