  3. DARKMYSTERY, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM, I AM NOT "HIGHER THAN THOU" OR MORE SELF RIGHTOUS, I JUST LIKE TO THINK THAT MY PUPPIES WERE WELL BRED, WELL CARED FOR AND MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, LOVED MORE THAN MY HEART COULD COPE WITH  IF I COULDN'T COPE WITH WHERE MY PUPPIES WENT OR TO WHOM I WOULD NOT HAVE BRED FROM MY GIRL  IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE HAD A PROBLEM BUT WON'T LET US IN ON IT :-? IF YOU HAVE TELL US THEN WE MIGHT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS  AND IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THIS HEAT, GET OUT OF OUR KITCHEN :agrue: KIND REGARDS AMBER
  4. hi zac, yes i suppose it is a type of steroid, will confirm with the vets, no i don't like overloading, escpecially as i want to breed from her again next year, but that's obviously with my vets approval. regards amber
  5. hi Lucky-Chaos There's a lot of Holly's out there  One of my baby Danes (8months) is also named Holly, her mum Jem, was mated a week before Christmas so it was quite apt. Never, ever, ever have a bitch spayed whilst on heat, usually done (by good vets) in between heat. Also, it is not very kind to 'male' dogs at shows when a bitch is in season!!!!! but everyone have different thoughts on that, but that is my view
  6. I agree with all the above. We've had Great Danes for 18 years, the first two being rescue, the latter past away a week of her 11 birthday, good age for a Dane. Now to my point, having had danes for all these years, we had our first litter in february of this year, the time was right. We didn't see much profit, but it was a 'labour' of love, the mum was brilliant and had 9 beautiful babies, I kept 2, and only 1 went to a show home, the rest to wonderful pet homes, who were all vetted and okayed and we all keep in touch and loads of photo's. Yes there are good and bad breeders but consider myself to be one of the better, not all is gloom and doom, just thought you would all like to know of our experience and thoughts.
  7. hi roo, never seen you so embarrased, ha ha ha tee tee   thanks for the amendment, i know i can be a clown at times!!!!!!! :calus: :laola: no doubt speak later. luv amber
  8. hi zac thanks for reply, no she's on Immucept made up by Heska AG in Switzerland, any knowledge on this. :beerchug: amber
  9. my 3 year old dane bitch is allergic to five different house mights, yuk and 4 different grasses. She is now on vaccinations for the rest of her life, show us a super clean house and i'll my dinner of the floor, we all wished. :-? to help with the soothing i use on her a full powered Aloe Vera gel and she also drinks pure aloe vera, so do i as i have psoriasis, it works and i have even dumfounded my dermatolist who actually refused to believe it but my own doctor did. hope this helps to relieve the discomfort. good luck
  10. roo, so sorry to hear of the sad news, our thoughts are with you all and the babes
  11. hi ickle well done, congrats to you all. why was she so naughty at training last week then behaved impeccably at the match   perhaps she will make 7 months   see you next week
  12. THANK GOD, AT LAST A MAN HAS ADMITTED DEFEAT, MAKES A CHANGE, BUT THEN WE WOMEN KNOW WE ARE ALWAYS RIGHT :beerchug: :chainsaw1: THEY ARE USUALLY  WELL DONE :B-fly:
  13. It's the same in the UK, you pay your money and you want what is yours at the end of the day. GO FOR IT  We have problems here with top breeders, HAVE THEY sold the best pup and don't want you to do anything with that babe, go for it kid, it's worth a try, your in the best business  good luck let us know how you go
  14. Hi Emily D and Family, hope mum and little ones are doing okay  , it is a frightening xperience. I had my first litter of Dane babies in February after 18 years of having Danes (the time was right for us) I have assisted my mentor Marian with four litters of Dane babes but until it's your first you never know what is going to happen, we had the mum scanned at 5 weeks and they said at least 5 :) . She broke her waters at 9.50am the first being born at 10.25, 1lb3oz, she went on from there popping them out like peas from a pod. You would never believe it but the ninth and last one (thank God) at 6.15pm, yes the same day, was the largest at 1lb10oz, :D so she did well and all was well after. Yes it is a harrowing experience and one I look forward to again. If you ever need help ask us, we will try and help as best as we can, I'm only a novice but every little bit helps. Anyway. well done, good luck to babes and mum, now the sleepless nights and s..t!!!! hope you've got plenty of newspapers, you'll need them  A big Great Dane kiss from one and all :beerchug:
  15. hi Sushiwelldone, it's a shame your in Canada (not really) here in the UK we have what is called Discover Dogs and it is held at Crufts in March and again in November in London. There are hundreds of different breeds, the dogs are with their owners for questions/answers, stroking the dogs etc. All the breeds have seperate booths and are well catered for, it certainly is a wonderful sight. Perhaps you could find out over there with your Kennel Club if they have such an event near you. Hope this helps. :D I am obviously biased but I have 5 Great Danes who are wonderful with children and are very much tactile people dogs and very loyal. Good luck
  16. marion, your poems are wonderful, roo was round at mine the other day we both ended up in tears reading memorials  a couple of years ago I had to have 2 of my danes put to sleep the same day, Sasha (a blue) was a week of eleven (a good age for a dane) and Zigi who was a fawn and 6 years of age, who had back problems, Robbie Williams was top of the charts with Angels  , now everytime I hear it I cry buckets, that was their song (i saw him in concert at Knebworth, he was magic) thanks for your wonderful thoughts for our 'kids'
