1.
Question, Is that not what all the Hairless Crested breeders should be striving to achieve?
Should be, but some don't... :( Many don't care of the ears and think that the hairy hairlesses are much better then true hairlesses, because with them you can decide how much crest, plume and socks they should have by shaveing them. This wouldn't work with true hairlesses. And because it is so common on hairless dogs to have missing teeth, then the priorities have changed to that the hairless has to have all teeth BESIDES the premolars. /Crest
  2. No, no, no, no. A chinese crested that has hair is called a Powder Puff. A Powder Puff does NOT have the hairless gene, so if you breed a PP with a PP the result is just PP's, so by breeding just PP's it would be easy to terminate all the hairless ones. The hairless is a mutation that nobody knows the origin of. A true hairless is a dog that is naturally hairless (wich means you don't have to shave it in order for it to be hairless) a hairy hairless is just the opposite. It can even be an extreme hairy hairless wich means it looks just like a PP. The only diffirence between the two of them is that the hairy hairless carries the hairless geene and the PP doesn't and that the hairless has it's teeth pointing a bit forward, like "tusks" and the PP doesn't. And now most breed hairy hairlesses and I'm interested in true hairlesses (the way they were before people started breeding them to become the ideal dog). Now allso they have started breeding them to become bigger. The normal height is 25-33cm but I've heard that there are CC's up to 40cm!!! And I'm interested in the smaller ones and the true hairless ones. Another problem with hairless dogs is missing teeth (The american hairless terrier is the only hairless dog with full teeth). The PP has to have all teeth, but the hairless can be missing teeth (it's rare if you find a hairless with a full set of teeth). And another is floppy ears. So that's why many breeders tape the ears to make them erect. Sooooo.... What I would want the CC to evolve to is: true hairless with full sets of teeth and naturally erected ears! :) Guess how hard that is!! /Crest
  3. Thanks Lisa... Then he has worms. He has the symtoms you described: "very hungry. Scooting round on their bum, gnawing at their back end." He has started to smell at his but and lick it allso. There aren't any visible worms in his poo, but the poo has been of a strange color, looser then normally and smelling REALLY bad (MUCH more worse then normally). /Crest
  4. Wow! And I thought I was weird! :o  /Crest
  5. Well the two breeders (the one I'm thinking of takeing the puppy and the one that has the litter from wich I didn't get the puppy) are friends and I know both of them. The pedigree of this litter she's having is grait! 14 dogs of wich 10 have atleast Fin Ch. To make it even better, she breeds true hairesses!! I'm getting (again) more and more exited! The pup would be born in the end of september (if I've been counting correcly). Thumbs up! /Crest
  6.
http://www.geocities.com/debcrest/mythandlegend.html Hi. Crested, Love your dog pics. I guess you have probably looked at every web site for Cresties. The one above is for an Australian Crestie Kennel with some nice pics and info. I thought you might be interested in if you haven't already seen it. They are a lovely little dog and we have some nice ones here in Aussie. When I was judging there was nothing nicer than a warm Crestie to run your hands over on a cold day
Thanks! I'll check it out... Actually I have been on MANY crestie breeders pages... I've gone through nearly all in http://crestedlinks.2n3055.com/ /Crest
  7. I'm just wondering... what are the symptoms of worms? /Crest PS: I think Ben has worms... that's why I'm asking... I started the worming today just in case (one tablet once a day for three days)
  8. Well with me looking at dogs from the most successfull breeders isn't even an option, because all of them breed HAIRY hairlesses and I want to breed TRUE hairlesses. It's really hard to find true hairlesses of good quality and that's why it's hard to find puppies too... :( Thanks for the advice, Roo and Rosebud! :) /Crest
  9. Well... I just thought to ask you... what do you call your doggies for fun? Ben's nicknames are: - Weiner sausage / sausage (ehem... Don't know where that came in the picture... I guess it came originally from him beeing hairless) - Ben the terminator rex (it would take too long to list everything he's destroyed just for fun...) - Terminator (He's real name is Juno-Juhekin Terminator) - Stupid / Silly / Funny / Weirdo (ya know how stupid dogs can be in a cute way sometimes.... :D ) - Benjamin (actually, that's Ben's "real" name, but I just made it shorter...), Benny, Bennyboy. - Warm water bottle (he's really warm and when he crawls up under your blanket, rolls up between your legs (ehem...) and puts his head on your foot... sighs... and goes to sleep... that's just priceless!!) - Couch potato (Need I say more?) Hmm... Can't come up with any more for the moment... :D Oh, and did you know Ben knows ALL the same commands and tricks in both Finnish AND Sweedish, and the commands: sit, bark, stay and come on english? /Crest
  10. I'm so sorry! :( You have a big decition to make. It's really hard for someone else to tell you what to do. You should make the decition yourself. That's what I think. I wish you and you doggy all the best! /Crest
  11. I was just thinking... If someone (well, to make it simple, let's just say hypotheticly me) would be starting to breed a dogbreed, then what kind of start would be a good start? Should I buy an adult dog that has allredy had 1 or two litters or a puppy? /Crest
  12. Thanks... :) Good idea Nancy... Actually the same breeder is having anohther litter this autumn, so I might get a puppy from there, but then there's this other breeder who is expecting puppies too (not certain yet) and if I would take from her, I would be on the top of the wait list... So I don't know...
And you weren't going to use this one for breeding purposes anyways, right?
Actually I am going to use this puppy I'm (hopefully) someday getting for breeding, because my big dream is to become a breeder. I use nearly all my freetime on reading about Chinese Cresteds, looking at pictures, looking at pedigrees, reading the FCI breed standard (for the millionth time) etc. I'm allso hopeing on going on a breeders course this summer (if there will be any this year). I'm allso going to go after that to a second breeders course (you have to go the first one, if you want to be a breeder in the Finnish Kennel klub, the second one is totally up to you, but my motto is: "You can never know too much", so I am going on the second one after the first one.). And I am ABSOLUTELY NOT going to have puppy because of money! NO WAY!!! I want to make a litter because I love the Chinese Crested. NOT because of money. Even if there weren't even any money involved, I would become a breeder. :) But mabye I'm just werid... :-? /Crest
  13. Well... It looks like she will be keeping them both... I asked that the breeder of the pups to ask her if she could sell one to me or place one with me (that would mean that in about 2 years she would be mine ). He said he would do that, but that she probabely won't do that... :( ...soooo... another search.... *sigh* /Crest
  14. AWWW! What an adorable pic! Well... do you like this one? :) /Crest
  15.

Anybody else have any pictures they want me to make as an avtar? :D
Crested you can do one for me hun, but I have to get my scanner sorted first.....since the computer has been formatted I can't get the Toolbox to show up :(
Aww... :( I'd love to do one for you! :) /Crest
  16.
Oh my goodness, that is SO cute!!!! So my question is... do you think I could train one to ride my Dane while he gallops around?? I don't know why I keep picturing that, but that would be soo cute and I think they are light enough! (No I don't really think that you can do this, but it's still a funny picture!)
Well... I think that a big xolo wouldn't be that light, but a Chinese Crested, sure... :D Exept, I think the crestie would just jump off... Mabye you could just train it to stand on your Dane's back! :D That might work a little bit better! :D (Hah! That WOULD look funny!) /Crested
  17.
I LOVE THAT COAT THE ONE ON BEN ON THE PHOTOS :D I WOULD LIKE TO ASK CAN YOU BREED A HAIRLESS AND HAIRY ONES TOGETHER :) LIKE IN THE SHARPEI WE CAN BREED HORSE COAT TO BRUSH COAT THAT IS FINE IT DOES NOT GO ON THE PAPERS WHAT COAT TYPE THE DAM OR SIRE HAS. ONE ONLY COAT YOU DON'T BREED IS THE BEAR COAT THEY ARE USUALLY SOLD AS PETS ONLY WITH A NEWTER/SPRAY CONTRACT
Yes, with hairless dogs you can (and should) breed hairless with powder puffs. This results in hairless and powder puff puppies, wich in Perro Sin Pelo Del Peru and Xolos aren't approved yet by the FCI. This is quite a shame, because many of them look exellent! Oh, and did you know that the Chinese Crested powderpuff and all other powder puffs from every else hairless breed have one thing diffirent... The Chinese Crested PP is the only one with LONG coat. :) /Crest
  18.

Well... it's pretty much clear now... I won't get my puppy... So I have to start the search again... See the timeing would have been PERFECT with this puppy, and I've decided that I WANT a puppy end of story! But the puppy has to be of good quality, because of my dream of becoming a breeder. Guess how had that search is going to be... /Crest
Crested just a thought  , you say the breeder of the bitch is having two girl pups, so it sounds like there were terms attatched to the bitch when she was sold, have you thought of contacting the person who is having the two girls, she may sell you one you know, often people with terms then resell what they get back.
WOW! ROO!! :o I had been thinking that there must be some kind of term or something, but I didn't think that far! :o THANKS!!! I allredy sent a question to the breeder! :D Thumbs up again! :D WOW, I feel like hugging you to death right now!! :D :D Thank you SO much for giving me a bit hope!! :D /Crest
  19. Thaks you guys... Mabye this just wasn't ment to be... I really hope I can find another puppy...
  20. Well... it's pretty much clear now... 21.
He is definately a cutie!!!
Thanks! I love him to death! :iloveyou: Oh, and here is the page at cutefamilypets.com where I'm allso anwsering questions. :) http://www.cutefamilypets.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=919605151&f=330602873&m=4546084223&r=5786084223#5786084223 Wow what an address... :o /Crest
  22.
He looks so cute in those getups!! How adorable!! He doesn't fuzz when you dress him?
No. Well at first he did, but when he got used to it he figured out that clothes = warmth, so now there's no problem. :) /Crest
  23.
I guess this is a kind of stupid question, but don't they get cold? How are they in snow? Or just when it gets chilly out?
They need clothes on cold weathers just as we people do. (Would you go on a walk naked when it's below zero celcius out and windy, or when it's snowing?) They can go quick out on winter even with a lot of minus degrees to pee-pee, but that's just quick out and quick in. Some like to play in snow when they have clothes on, but some HATE snow (like Ben does). Here's a couple pics of Ben's clothes. And here's a couple of Ben's two t-shirts that work pretty well on mosqueetos on summers or if he has itchy skin or something (because of his allergies). /Crest
  24. I've got a LOT of questions about hairless dogs and I'm thinking of makeing an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on my homepage. I have one allredy, but I thought I'd make a new version of it. I thought I'd allso put it on a page called karvattomat.cjb.net that I have about hairless dogs (in finnish only). The questions about Chinese Cresteds will go to my homepage and all the questions will go on karvattomat.cjb.net (I'll translate it). So... If there's ANYTHING you want to know, just ask. I'll anwser here and when all of your questions have been anwserd, then I'll put them on thoose pages. :) What do you think of the idea? I'll put this allso on cutefamilypets.com so you can ask me there allso. :) /Crest
  25. Ben i such a strange dog. When he sees that I'm upset or sad he always starts to do the "cute-baby-tricks". So he looks at me and makes SURE I look, then he starts chaseing his tail like a whirlwind, fall on one side and start rolling on his back while barking like a puppy then suddenly stop and look at the tail, bark at it and get up, then he starts throwing his head from one side to another so his ears make this "floppy" -sound and chase the tail again for a while. When I've started laughing, he comes to me with his tail wagging and looks like me with thoose eyes of his that say: "Did I make you feel better?" :D Where would I be without that precious doggy? /Crest
