I'm with your Shannon, have to point out tho, people DO dump their kids or abuse their kids or murder their kids. I read a quote some time back, probably don't have it exact, but it went like this:
All over the country, thousands of children are living lives of quiet desperation.
It doesnt matter if its a dog, cat, horse, human being.....they will always be abused or killed unless something is done about it like the law being stricter. Those dogs and cats that are muzzled with tin cans, then beaten to death before being eaten is down right evil/sick, changes are being made to end the suffering to these poor animals, there as been many petitions put up and signed by the public.

Its so sad for all animals who get abused/illtreated, people do not realise what animals can do for our health in cases of bringing our stress level down when we are depressed and making us happy.... animals especially dogs are what you make them to be, just like children....if you allow them to pull the wallpaper off the wall or cut or chew your sofa up without correcting them then they will, if you show both that your topdog/boss then they will back down. Owners of dogs and parents of children are to blame for bringing them up misserably, you dont dump your child for being naughty do you ? so why a dog! It goes to show that because dogs carn't answer back and show emotions like humans they are treated the worst, if it was the other way round then humans would be getting dumped and dogs staying, its a vicious circle in life. The law should be changed to allow only responsible mature adults to have neutered pets with children being bought up to love and care for there pet, and only the experienced breeders who breed for quality not quantity, having there dogs also neutered that aren't good for showing. This would prevent neglect of any animal, there wouldn't be any unwanted litters, no rescues and definately no cross breeds (which are mostly the ones that are dumped). It can be done with a lot of time, effort, and hard work, all animals fitted with sensors would be a start so that throughout the households they can be tracked for any neglect/bad treatment like being smacked, kicked, thrown, starved etc....in which a crying noise would let the police know that the dog isnt being treated properly, a lot of the time the police dont have nothing better to do than to pull people over for car checks etc.....maybe animal tracking would give them something to do. They only need to sit in there offices waiting for the sensor to go off then they could go straight to the owners house, WARNING them that the dog will be taken away if not looked after properly and also fined and prisoned. There good at going after those who dont pay for there tv licences, and fine them, an animal as feelings....a tv licence is just a piece of paper! My oppinion to how it should be, i know a few of you might have others.
OMG! How awful...I despise the people that have not enough love in thier body to treat that poor doggy with the respect and love he deserved
K it seems that the breeder (yes a well known breeder) had no idea that one of her Bullmastiff pups would end up being starved and abused, the owners of this dog were caught and arrested.....but what is more sad is that they had to did up the body for tests in the breeders garden, she was heartbroken about it. In the photos, I like many Bullmastiff owners have said that the dog had a good head and that he possibly came from a show kennel. I do not know the full story as this happened in Scotland, we dont have there news! But one thing for sure, how can you possibly not know that the person you sold a pup too isn't cruel, arent they supposed to keep in touch with the owners for the rest of there pups life ? I know some breeders dont care where there dogs end up but this one was known by many! :x

Hi there. Microchipping is one of the best solutions to a lost dog being returned to its owner, this practice is done by the vet who injects a chip (about the size of a grain of rice) into the back of the dogs neck, this does not hurt them. You will be given or sent the number of the chip, with your name and address on the letter, so if your dog becomes lost then the dog can be traced back to you its owner from a scanner. Tattooing is another one, the dog can have ears, inside leg tattooed! A name tag is also essential if you can get one (you could order one off the net by searching for ''DOG TAG'' these usually just have your address and telephone number on one side but some do put the name of there pet on the other side. If you would like me to do a search for you myself for a ''Tag'' send me an e-mail.

Good Gracious Chrissy, that is so awful and very sad for your baby :( I hope something is done about this...your so called neighbours have no brains, they are both sick to have allowed there Pitbull to fight your poor dog...i mean what kind of friends are they! This is the sort of thing i always see when i decide to go away...(not been away from my dogs yet) but to think what could happen if ever they were attacked or in any other kind of accident, i think the holiday would be ruined for us not knowing if they are ok.
hee hee heee Velcro dog...nice mental imagary! Talk about soap bubbles my dogs are mad for them...you know the kind that kids get with a little round plastic thing to blow bubbles...yeh?....well my Staffs HATE 'EM..they growl at them and chase them and KILL them....it is too funny to do for too long (if you know what I mean  )
Charlie loves licking the bubbles out the bath so i put a few on top of his head, he just sits there...ears twitching when he hears the bubbles popping! :D

Thats very sad BK Blue, Jacsmom. Most of you might have read about the Border Terrier that my mom saved from an evil man in my childhood, well i didnt tell you about the last night of her life. My moms boyfriend who i didn't really get on with would take (Shandy as we named her) down the club with him.....i know this cause i would see him walking her on the leash from a friends house (often she would be with me) but this one day she wasn't....i was not too happy about this as i was told he hated seeing dogs on leashes and that my mother had given him a good talking too about it, ''he knew Shandy was terrified of crossing roads'', well you can expect to know what happened next.......he took our little dog without a leash on across this busy road on the way back home, they were only half way up the road when this stupid man who knew Shandy from the club called her and she went running across the road, she got hit by a caravan being towed by a car....i knew nothing about untill my brother (bless him) came and told me, i went running home...only to find that Shandy had being laying in my mothers boyfriends arms for 1 hour.......when i asked why she wasn't at the vet he said he thought she would come round so he didn't think it was necessary and that he didn't have own transport, i was so furious as well has being upset......i screamed at him, i shall not say what i called him, a friend had phoned a taxi to take Shandy to the vet, with him dragging behind...Shandy died in the early hours of the morning, i did not sleep or eat properly for months...to think that if he hadn't have been so foolish and took our little girl to the vet, she might have been saved! I carn't help but think that she suffered for the last hours of her life.

Charlie didn't start lifting his till he was 10 or 11 months old....i thought he was half female lol. It is due to the balance/structure. Not to worry Elric will eventually get there :D
Newfiemom..do your dogs have to turn round in circles to find somewhere suitable to poop? Storm does the foot kicking thing ..personally I think it is a little tarty...like leaving a card in the phone box  No real progression on the lifting the leg thing with Blade(I am still watching and waiting)...and does anyone know how long it takes large breeds (un-neutered as yet ) to lift legs?
LOL K. How old is Blade ? Penny turns round in a circle about 6 times before she poops! It is annoying if your waiting to go to bed
-
Sashagirl lol...i thought that as well :D Well it seems we learn something new everyday here!
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Hope you have many wonderful, happy, slobbering days to come with your Mastiff :BIG: Look forward to seeing all those photos.
-
Newfiemom, maybe your right about the alpha thing, my Border Collie mix Penny is older than our Bullmastiff Charlie, but younger than our Westie mix Patch....she tends to lift her leg at times and also tries to push her way in front of the others when she is called, i do try to make sure that she knows that Patch comes before her, him being the oldest especially at feed times and walks, she ignores me though and barges straight past so then she is sent outside to wait her turn. I have noticed with Charlie, he is the only dog who doesn't kick the grass when in the garden or out in the field!
-
Your Welcome!!!! Look forward to it :D I will be putting some more here soon, so keep a look out.

I am a fun loving Golden Retriever, adored by all :D It also says my theme song is Walking On Sunshine! As anyone done that one ?
-
I see where your coming from now Kylie, hmm a bit of a problem you have.....are your neighbours dogs dangerous ? but saying that, on the other hand they should'nt be roaming in the neighbourhood its dangerous for themselves and others. The only thing i can suggest is to have a word with your neighbours and ask them to keep there dogs in, especially to move things from near there gate and fence, which can encourage the dogs to jump onto. Tell them how you feel. GOOD LUCK!

Im late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby, she is absolutely adorable and a sweet :lilangel: i Love her little white toes! All the best with her, keep the photos coming!
-
Having 3 cats who have catnip from time to time....because too much makes them wild, i couldnt say whether my dogs are affected by it as they arent allowed near any......but i must point out that toys for cats like ping pong balls etc are not suitable for dogs, even the small ones could possibly choke....cats car'nt hold them in there mouth so they tap the ball with there paw...dogs won't do that they would rather chew....all im saying is be very careful, keep your eye on your dog at all times.
-
Marble you must be firm but kind to her.....your dog knows she is top and your bottom, this should be the other way round, to stop her from biting and pulling at your clothes say ''NO'' and give her a toy to play with to encourage her to do the opposite, be sharp with her when you say it so she gets the message....you will have to use that command whenever she bites, whatever you do don't smack her....at the moment she doesnt know what she is doing wrong this is why you should teach her right from wrong, she will learn but you will need a lot of patience. hope this as helped! Let us know how you get on.
