  1. Jesse likes all toys but his favourite are stuffed toys. He likes to pull all their stuffing out :o  He also will take a stuffed toy or anything soft and go to sleep sucking on it like he's a puppy nursing! It's so cute, he's been doing it ever since he was a puppy! :D He also likes chweing on pop bottles. He waits until I'm finished drinking my Coke so I'll give him the bottle. He flattens it in minutes!

I think both are to blame. A good breeder wouldn't sell to a bad owner, they'd make sure the Pitbull was the dog for them. So yes, it's bad owners and bad breeders.
  3. :o Sounds exactly like Beta, our Rotti/Shepherd/Lab cross, four and a half years ago! She was exactly like that! We also live in the country and she went in the neighbors yards and barked at their dogs and a few of the neighbors were pretty mad! Unfortunately I don't really know how we stopped her, I think she just finally grew out of it but we had to tie her up a lot of the time because she'd take off right away. We left her in the house when we weren't home and gave her a lot of exercise on leash. But she's fine now and rarely wanders. I hope someone can help you with your dog, just hang in there! :)
  4. My westie, Jesse, loves the snow! We get way too much here though :-? You have awesome dogs! :D I like Cody's colour! Cool Rottie 8)
  5. That is so sick and stupid! I feel for the owners of the dog  This reminds me of a story in the paper a few years ago. I'll try to remember most of it. Some police officers in a car seen two Great Pyrenees dogs, one a pup, in a field chewing on the carcass of a dead sheep. They assumed the dogs had killed the sheep and shot them both on the spot! Come to find out the dogs, both very friendly pets, belonged to a family nearby. The sheep was dead before the dogs found it, I think it had been dumped there or something. The family was very upset and heartbroken. (They had children, too!) It was in the paper for a few days. I think the officer ended up being charged. Do people have no common sense?!
  6. I think the problem lies in the training and socialization of the dog. Irresponsible owners are the problems not the dogs, also irresponsible breeding sometimes produces unstable pups. I'm a firm believer that the problem is almost all the owner, if not all the owner. Just my opinion :) I agree that an owner should have a test before they are allowed to own a dog.
  7. I like all dogs. Here are some favourites: Pugs, Huskies, Rotties, and Akitas. I always wanted a Pug but my Dad said I could get a Westie only, so I did. He's the best dog I ever had. He has such character! I'm glad I got him so now I like Terriers too.
  8. I bought a book called Good Owners, Great dogs by Brian Kilcommons. It is the absolute best dog training book I've read, and I've read lots. It has helped me a lot! Teaching a dog to heel has always been the hardest thing for me to do. One book says do it this way, another is different and so on and none of them seemed to work. I tried the method in this book and presto! It works! It also has information on dog aggression and all kinds of helpful stuff! Just thought I'd let people know about this great book. :P
  9. My Westie, Jesse, gets Nutro. I've recently switched him from puppy to adult. My other dog, Beta, a Rottie/Shepherd/Lab has just started getting Nutro. She is a fussy eater but likes this stuff. She has mild hip dysplasia and I'm hoping a better brand of dog food than the supermarket junk she was getting might do a little good.
  10. Some people believe anything they hear! I know someone who said that a Rottweilers brain will outgrow their head and they'll go crazy and turn on their owner! They believe a Rottie, Pitbull, etc. is a vicious dog and don't believe it all depends on how the dog is raised. This from someone who has owned none of these breeds and their dogs eventually end up aggressive!
  11. Too many to choose from! :hmmmm: I like the look of the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Boxers, Rottie's. Pugs are sooo cute! Yorkshire Terriers are beautiful in full coat! Akitas are awesome, so are Alaskan Malamutes and Siberians. I like all dogs! :D
  12. Its sickening what some people will do to helpless animals! :x Last year my Aunt read a story in the paper that said someone had dropped a box of puppies off at the Humane Society during the night. It was winter and two of the puppies froze to death before they were found the next morning. My Aunt went to the Humane Society and the puppies were so cute she and my Uncle adopted the little female. She is a Siberian Husky/Blue Heeler cross, extremely friendly and hyper! She's got blue eyes and they named her Ice. She's a great dog! 8)
