4. Don't know if that has been posted before: http://miva.zodiacal.com/acropet.mv Check this out: Bogey (APBT): You have a loyal pet who is very protective and possessive. Your pet has a highly developed sixth sense, especially when it comes to home and family. This animal is very tenacious and intensely loyal. This is an intelligent, obedient pet who needs to feel needed. Your pet is certainly never dull. You may find this animal has a dualistic nature being very communicative one minute and sullen the next. Your pet is obedient, learns quickly, and can be a bit standoffish. ALMOST right :D. Sarah

6. Apr 22, 2003 7:39 pm US/Eastern (AP) (SAN JOSE, Calif.) A Menlo Park man accused of barking at a police canine is in the doghouse with authorities. Richard "Tyson" Dillon, 25, faces a misdemeanor charge that he willfully and maliciously interfered with a Palo Alto police officer's duty by teasing and agitating the officer's dog. Dillon, who could face up to a year in county jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted, pleaded not guilty in a Palo Alto courtroom Tuesday. The incident occurred March 5, on Mardi Gras night, when Dillon, a bartender, and a co-worker were walking in downtown Palo Alto and passed a group of officers standing by their patrol cars. According to Dillon's attorney, Donald Tasto, the police dog in one of the cars was already agitated and barking at other passers-by when Dillon returned a single "friendly bark." Police cited then released him. Tasto contends his client's case doesn't measure up to a crime. "It's ridiculous that someone could be charged for barking," he said in a phone interview Tuesday, adding that Dillon "doesn't have a mean bone in his body." And what about First Amendment rights?, Tasto asked. "Is there no freedom of bark?" Palo Alto police spokesman Jim Coffman acknowledged that barking in itself may not warrant a citation, but the law clearly prohibits actions that harass and agitate police dogs, he said. :drinking:
7. Greyhounds??? Heehaa, I don't believe it. I have had Bull Breed for over 20 years and run a rescue. I got mauled last year and required nearly 30 stitches. But NO by a Bull Breed but by a LABRADOR. There you go... Sarah

12. The one that would like to breed but is responsible enough not to do so. Sarah
13. I have worked through the thread and I have the following to say; I run a bull breed sanctuary with s strict non kill policy. A lot of the dogs I take in come from a pit backround. And YES, they can be re-socialized and YES, I do home them as pets afterwards. I have been doing so for the past 6 years and NOT ONE was returned to me, so I must be doing something right. Re-conditioning of an ex-pit dog is not as hard as one might imagine and I keep saying that other dogs (non bull breeds) are dog aggressive without being trained to do so. The PETA article is unfounded and not well researched, or better not at all researched. It seems that is written to get the ordinary Joe Public on their side, like: Oh look, PETA is not as militant as we thought, they hate those monsters as well. Makes me sick. Sarah
14. I know Shady, it's always the deed not the breed and it's the owner who is responsible for the deed. The only hunting APBT's I know are in Australia with a friend of mine and let me tell you: they are the most well behaved tribe I know. Another friend of mine uses his APBT for herding his sheep, also no problem. But if they are unsupervised than they can do much damage. Would you trust the owner of the APBT to look after his dog properly now that damage has been done? I know from experience with sheep killers here that they are most likely to do it again if given a chance. Sarah
15. Cool, may I ask where you are located?? Sarah
16. Hi, I am new to the board, I live in Ireland which is sheep country and every year hundreds of sheep get killed and mauled by dogs. Mostly by BC and JRT. I also run a Bull Breed Sanctuary and when I read the title of this topic, my stomach turned. PIT BULL killed goat. I agree that a dog should be kept under control at all time. And I also seen the damage dogs can do when they attack another animal, not just APBT. It is highly distressing to lose an animal this way. But why not sit down with the owner of the dog and have a conversation? What happened, why was the dog loose? Is he/she prepared to pay for damages, is he/she willing to exert more and better control over the animal etc?? Sarah
