  1. had - dachsie  wish - boxer and a dobie they are just beautiful and regal breeds Rana and Connor
  2. I have a mini dachsie. Fully grown he will not wieght over 11 pounds. Only problem really with the breed are back problems but ramps and things to prevent lots of jumping from high things like the couch can stop that. They are very low sheaders, even the long haired ones like mine. Just a quick daily brushing they are good to go. They are a bit on the head strong side, but remember they were breed to fight badgers in their own burrows so being stubborn was a good thing  . Not so much now, but you can little box train them also I am doing that now and its working I live in hurricane alley so doing potty outside is not always permitted. They are small enough that they can get enough exerince running in the house or apartment, just have lots of chew toys for them. If they are solocaized well during puppyhood they are great with children and other people and even strangers. They are loyal to their human family, but they usually bond really close with just one but loves them all. They do bark at times just like most breeds but with proper traiining and time spent with them to know the rules of the household they do really well I think. I might be a bit one sided but these little guys are good to go if you are active and on the go alot or if your not that active they can get all the exerice they need in the house Just my opinion Rana and Connor presnetly
  3. Sounds like an awesome puppy to me. I love dobies they are so regal looking, they look and temperment
  4. I was told that most clubs liek AKC and such are really getting away from the cropping and docking of the breeds that this is done to. Dobies can be showing in confrimation with natural ears just saw it on crufts so as strict as the UK is on confrimations shows I would say not to. One Owner of a dobe told me that her dogs temperment changed after it when you touched the ears while petting her head some two years after, has has since got 2 more that she refused to crop the ears for that rason alone. Its a personal choice really. I like a natural looking dog Rana and Connor at present
  5. I think the breed you pick should fit your personality, lifestyle, and your living conditond i.e apartment or House. Read up know what heath problems the breed in known to have see if you can handle these things. Most any breed if properly socialized from puppyhood will enjoy children of any age. Its those that never knew children that fear them and their ways. I have had both large and small breeds aroun dmy children never a problem as long as they were introduced and the children taught how to handle and play with the dog. As far as barking best to know how your neighbors will handle such. LOL My dachsie is not a big barker yet, I say yet he is only 10 and half weeks old. But when he gets going you would think he is a great dane. LOL little dog large bark. To me its about educating yourself about the breed that interest you and find one that suits your lifestyle and personality. If you are not an acitve persona you dont want a jack russle or if your are very acitve you dont want a bassit. Those thype of issues. Many dog end up in the shelters cause people get a dog witout fully understanding how the breed tends to be. Just my thoughts
