  1. I tried to rescue a Jack Russell once (with out researching) dumb dumb dumb. I had just got out of highschool, what can I say.... He was supposedly crate trained too the pound told me, he was an owner surrender. I thought they just had him running around the office because they loved him. Oh no... I have him through the weekend, no problemo.. just great as can be. Work week came and I crated him the first day. It was in my room in the corner. By the time I got home he had the crate all the way turned around and blood was everywhere!!!!! He tried to knaw out of that crate apparently all day and really did a job on his mouth. Needless to say he was never crated again and he is now rehomed with my elderly old neighbor who watched him for me after the crate incident. Luckily he fell in love and was home all day to be with the little guy. Point being, serious seperation anxiety. I don't know if they are all that way, but this poor guy was willing to hurt himself to find someone....
  2. My parents have a farm and a Border Collie named Jake who is a absolutely wonderful, extremely intelligent dog. He works cattle goes absolutely everywhere with my dad all day. You would think he would be worn out by days end....... Uh...... no!!!! They come home and play ball. The dogs energy never ends, he is a great dog but without these circumstances or agility I think he would not have near enough stimulation and would go crazy. I think they are definately a breed that takes research and the know before you just get one. Impulse buying with this breed leads to disaster.
  3. Well I have 2 Chinese Cresteds and they must be rare around here because everyone that sees them says :o what the heck is that???? Like they are witnessing life fresh from mars or something. Other than that I havn't even heard of half of those dogs. Like the Leonb... whatever. I guess I see exotic rare breeds all the time, commonly referred to as "mutts". Some are pretty cute and exotic though. Most people around here own mutts or cattle dogs....blue heelers, border collies etc... english shepherd i guess i never met until i moved here.
  4. We used to raise Saints in Colorado. There is a huge difference in the amount of drool from one dog to the next and they do genetically pass it on. For instance, we had one named Buford, I can't remember his full name, he was my moms, and there was never a day that drool wasn't spewing in long strands from his mouth, hence the term wet mouth. Brandi on the other hand drooled about the same as a lab, maybe a little more. No they aren't "dry mouthed" but yes there is a variance from dog to dog in the breed. I agree with u, they need to be air conditioned and very much a part of a family. They are not meant to be left along outside. Although I do not own them now, they are still my favorite breed. Just don't have the right conditions.
  5. What a fun thread!! :P I have in order of age Roger 4 yr old DLH Tiger very very very naughty and extremely sensitive, hates other cats!!!!! I love him though, he is a lot bigger than his puppy buddies, he doesn't mind them as much. As long as he gets his way always. Spike 6 Mth old Male Chinese Crested Powder Puff. Just awesome, I love him to death. Foxy 3 month old Female Chinese Crested Hairless with serious knee problems. She is going to be a costly one, but here forever. Breeder gave us option and we chose to keep her. She is my daughters, her responsibility and she does a great job!!!! Thats all for me. I commend some of you guys, sounds like some of you have a lot of responsibility on your hands!!!!
  6. Gizmo? Anyone else see a striking resemblance to that darker color one.... Never heard of such a thing. :o
  7. Yeah they definately fill up fast, those 2 little things are so....I guess u would say......emotional.. Pretty sure they would be quite..... the bawl babies we would say. Not too many dominance issues really with them but they know how to look pretty sad when they want to. Might have me buffaloed a little bit. Especially the little boy.
  8. My hairless babies sleep w/ me. Wouldn't have it any other way. Spikey sleeps on the pillow like a person and Foxy sleeps ontop of Spikey. Than the kids start crawling in through out the night. The way the 2 kids grow we are gettin pretty crowded. Don't know if a king size will cut it before 2 long.
