1. Mei Mei -- I will speak in your defense. I re-read your posts and they don't sound insulting at all. Some people have different definations for different words -- like MOSTLY to me means: just short of ALL THE TIME. Micheline: You are right, a person should not jump to conclusions and judge another person based on their conclusion. BUT, you also jumped to conclusions when you said that some people "implied" that you were abusive and the following about Mei Mei: Up to this e-mail mei mei I was fine. Well at least a bit better. I am sure even you (whom I don't know but to me seems to think she knows everything about humans. Maybe I am wrong at least, I hope I am wrong. If you feel bad about something, why not write to them or at the very least ask before trying to insult and hurt them. Things would go a lot better around the world if people acted kinder and did not jump to conclusions all the time. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ASK You are jumping to conclusions, too. A person jumps to conclusions when they are not given all the facts. Without all the facts, a person tends to, or feels the need to, fill in the empty blanks (it's just human nature). My defination of the word "MOSTLY", that you used, was that she was kept in a crate "MOST OF THE TIME", meaning; without being redundant :o , "most of the time". I don't know any other way to state it, other than "just short of ALL the time". "MOSTLY" is surely not, "SOME" of the time and is quite a bit longer than "A LITTLE WHILE".
2. Okay, this just be me....but I think Dogo forum was down this time to make some changes. Changes like: I couldn't reply to a thread unless I was a member!!! So, I membered up.
3. Newfie --- was your dog always allergic to stuff or did he seem to develope this one day? Scooter was the picture of health, then she was bitten by a Copperhead snake, then shortly after that her health started declining and the allergy(ies) started. The vet is scratching his head --- ALL of her tests are normal. We are trying a more natural approach now, since she has been on Prednisone for so long. With allergies, the scratching starts, this irritates the skin and can cause sores then, along comes a Staph infection (it's common). It just seems like a no-win situation!
4. After re-reading my post :o ....it sounded like I meant that I didn't believe that a dog would accidently bite the master. That is not what I meant, I DO believe that they will. I KNOW some dogs do re-direct aggression, because they are so mad and frustrated they tend to have tunnel vision and when you grab them, they bite before they look, because they instinctly think that it's another dog trying to grab them ----- and I still have the scars to prove that! Puppies don't usually do this, it's usually the adults.
5. Little baby socks work fine with the feet cut out. I just spray the sock with some bitter apple to keep the dog from chewing the sock off. The Hydrocortizone creme sounds like an idea to me! Some dogs really respond to it, some don't. We have one that doesn't respond to it. We have an older heeler that developed an allergy last summer. We, as well as our vet, have tried everything, Prednisone, Dexamethasone, Hydrocortizone creme, Benedryl, other brand of antihistimines, dips, baths etc... ---- none of them have worked. We are still trying different things. She is much better this year than she was last year. This year we are bathing her in an Oatmeal shampoo with Tea Tree oil added. It seems to alleve the itching for about 2 days.
6.
There are some out there who still believe no matter how wound up thier dog is it will know not to attack them in the process of attacking somebody/something else....does anyone here hold any belief in that???
That is "Redirected Aggression". No belief in that whatsoever, and I have the scars to prove it!!
