1. Hi Toni, Welcome :) Im a proud owner of 3 dogs (one being 13 years old)..plus 3 cats....you will find us interesting im sure  Many here do give out some excellent advice, but you might also get others who do some ear bashing :(
2. That is a sad poem, heartbreaking to read but true....its says the words of true love lost forever! Loads of hugs and kisses to all those who have been through the pain of misery when there owners no longer want them..also to the babies that have been abandoned on the streets, left to defend for themselves and those who have been cruely neglected.
3. I would say that all 3 of my dogs are friendly towards people and other animals:) The Bullmastiff (age 3 years)tends to get excited when we have visiters, but he is very layed back (that says it all for the breed) he sleeps more as he is getting older too. The Border Collie mix (age 6 years), is a crazy girl...she loves her ball too much, she can get hyper at times. The Westie (my little old man, age 13 years) for his age he is very playful and loves to play with Charlie tugging a rope pully! All in all they are very well behaved dogs, with the Bully and Collie both being intelligent. Puppies do see there home as there own, almost immediately that is why its up to the owner to sort there training out, socializing the pup....showing him whose boss etc. When Charlie (bullmastiff) first came home at 9 weeks, he was really quite and he didnt want to play with his toys....he just ate his food, went to toilet in the garden, then had his nap...he wasnt a playful puppy....he didnt chew things either, but as he was maturing he started to take an interest in things more. Now i think if someone else had him (lets just say) they didnt know anything about the breed, then i think Charlie probably would have been a little hyper, because unless a thorough research is done before choosing the Bullmastiff, then there could be a big problem! (The breed like many others, are not always suited to some especially not first time dog owners).
4. Geometro. I found this site...experts on Canine Breeders, they have a female Ori Pei available, she is fawn with black mask though...if colour doesnt matter then check this site out. (Please read up on this breed, do your research first) if you havent already done so, (in case the breed is not suited to you)....seeing an adorable looking puppy in a shop that catches your eye might not be the breed for you in the long term! 5. Geometro. I think you should visit this site, before you think about buying a puppy from a pet shop. http://www.nopuppymills.com/auctions/100899.htm
6. I know how you feel about people discriminating certain breeds, i have the same happen to me (but with looks). I took my now' 3 year old Bullmastiff Charlie to be neutered in September last year, and while my husband and myself where in the surgery waiting, (which was full) a lady across the room sitting there with her lap dog, gave my Bullmastiff a dirty look..(i could have said something, but i thought to myself why should i, she is nothing but just a waste of space). She was the only person in the room who didnt give Charlie any attention....a man sitting near the door smiled at my boy, and with that Charlie walked over to him rested his head in his lap, the man then put his arms round Charlie and gave him a hug, (i thought how nice)! Whether the man knew the breed or he could see Charlies friendliness towards everyone, it was unusual to see that!:) You are best to ignore people who use remarks like that, they obviously dont know the breed only by what they hear in the press, because of immature owners!
7. If anyone is interested in the Bullmastiff, and they would like me to post about there Care and Health etc...Please leave your views here and let me know, i will be more than pleased to help anyone who needs it. :)

Chocolate Labs

Hi Jack. I am sorry for the loss of your Golden Retriever. I have a site for you, which tells you about the Labrador..im sure it will give you loads of advice of this wonderful working breed. http://www.akc.org/breeds/recbreeds/labdoret.cfm
9. I for one had my Bullmastiff neutered in September :o but i had no choice and the reason for this is he had a testicle that was still up inside his scrotum...which could have caused problems later on, however saying that i would still have gotten him done as it prevents cancer in later life. Even though i am a considerate owner of my dogs, they would all be spayed/neutered eventually. My little Westie cross was neutered when he was 8 years old, (now 13 years) the vet told me the same thing about cancer so i decided to get him done. It doesnt stop is sexual behaviour though towards my 6 year old spayed Border Collie . My friend had a Kerry Blue Terrier that got cancer and they were told that if he had been neutered he would not have gotten it! The males being dominant are the ones to watch, (unless a breeder)..i myself think its wise to get all pets neutered and spayed.
10. To K. I know that the Mastiff come in dark brindle like the one post said, with shades of red and fawn like stripes, same as the Bullmastiff but as for pure black in the Mastiff breed...its not a known colour. Neopolitan Mastiffs come in shades of black and blue colours. This breeder could be refering to that breed....i also know that many people who breed Mastiffs, dont say exactly say what the name is (Whether it be a Tibetan Mastiff or Neopolitan Mastiff) which is so confusing
11. Hi Mei Mei. Yes your right, Mastiffs do only come in shades of fawn and brindle....obviously these dogs are some sort of crossbreed. What site did you see these dogs on ? Shannon Bullmastiff Owner and Lover of the breed!

Raw Meet

All dogs as well has cats have to be wormed regulary, whether they eat raw meat or not.
14. Might i ask why you want to breed your Husky.....is there any reason for doing so like showing, working ?
15. I have just changed my dogs food from Pedigree to Wafcol.......I have a Bullmastiff, a Westie mix, and a Border Collie mix...now with the 2 mixes i dont have a problem with...but i do with my Bullmastiff who as allergy problems. I have been told to avoid meat and dairy products which Pedigree and many other brands have, where as the Wafcol is free from meat, dairy, wheat etc. I got a small bag today, for them to try and to take them off the Pedigree..Does anyone feed there dogs Wafcol ?
16. Hi there. I own a 3 year old red/fawn Bullmastiff name (TARTUFFE TORRO) Charlie, who i absolutely adore...as well has the breed itself. I also own a 13 year old Westie mix, name Patch and a 6 year old Border Collie mix, name Penny. They all get on so well together, including with my 3 cats.
17. I agree, so many breeds are ending up in rescues because those who breed them are doing it for financial reward, they dont care where there pups end up as long as they are getting something out of it. I cannot immagine the price they ask for either, especially Saint Bernards being a very large breed, and people who buy them should learn to do there homework first before considering having a dog, its ok seeing a litter of Pedigree puppies and thinking (awww there cute shall have one of those), without giving any thought to what is going to happen once the pup matures to adult, being that the dog is too big for the house or its too boisterous to handle (because it wasn't trained from a pup)etc. All it takes is common sense, that i know many dont have, otherwise there wouldn't be any bad breeders or owners. 18. I am so glad that your dog is safely back home with you....You can get your dog microchipped by your vet, the price averages from

Chewing

I had that problem with my 2 year old Bullmastiff, Charlie as a cage that we used for training and he loves being in there, but he does not like being left even for one hour...he chewed his bed because of it even though he had plenty of toys and was exercised before being left, so he had to have another new bed which he as already chewed again but now, before i attempt to go out i leave the stereo on (not to loud)lol, just enough for him not to hear us leaving and he also as a old curtain round his cage so that he cannot see us....we never make a fuss, try not to make any sound with keys etc and we just leave, and up till now he as been fine. So you could try this! GOOD LUCK Shannon Bullmastiff Owner, Researcher/Adviser of the breed. Lover of all Animals.
20. I guess everyone does have there own oppinions and im not getting offensive just giving out a point about wrestling with dogs, it is not a good idea even with training. So many dogs are destroyed because of this and it needs to be stopped. You can do as you please with your dogs but please dont tell me that you dont agree with what i say....i do know what i am talking about, i do a lot of research over the net about what causes dog fights etc. Your right about not exercising straight after there meal, but they must not eat just before either.... they should be fed at least one hour before and after exercise to prevent bloat. What breed of dogs do you have as you only feed them once a day at night ?.....mine get fed once in the morning and last thing at night and never gain weight even when being exercised. Shannon
21. Sorry she.... Shannon
22. Hi there I do hope you find your pet, it seems you have had your question answered so i will just say that when you find your dog (not only have your dog tagged but also have him microchipped and neutered) when he comes home. I had this happen to my 13 year old Westie cross once, he was only a year old and he got out the back garden. I immediately phoned all the rescues and the vet just incase, i had to wait a while then a phonecall from the RSPCA had a dog bought in (that answered to my dogs discription) so i went to see and it was my baby....apparently a man had found him and took him there. (I say how kind of this man) I just hope that someone as done the same for your beloved pet, the reason i mentioned having your dog microchipped than just tagged is because Patch my Westie cross had a barrel on his collar but it was missing, and also having him neatured would stop your dog running away again....he is probably after a female. I have all 3 of my dogs tagged, microchipped, and neautered now! Hope you find him soon...by the way what breed is he, discription, and where are you located please ? I will try and locate rescues in your area as all information will also be on the net of any dogs found. Good Luck! Shannon, Bullmastiff Owner, Researcher/Adviser of the breed. Lover of all Animals!
23. Just letting you know David, that Czana was an unwanted litter and she is based in Texas....she is really sweet! Shannon Bullmastiff Owner, Researcher/Adviser of the Breed. Lover of all Animals!
24. Hi David. I thought you might want to look at this Rescue Site, there is a beautiful 6 month old Sheperd mix called Czana, she sounds lovely and she is looking for a loving home. This address will take you to the page where her photo is: http://www.wfaa.com/SPCA/
25. Anal glands are a problem in dogs, whether they are small, medium or large breeds. My eldest Westie cross (Patch) had this condition when he was younger and he had to have his emptied by the vet, of course the smell was foul and it does make you physically sick, but sometimes its due to laziness of going to the toilet, which was his case...he hasn't had this problem since though. A few weeks ago my 2 year old Bullmastiff (Charlie) was a bit pongy and he too was taken to the vet, only this was more than just emptying, Charlie had to go under anaesthetic to have the anal sacs drained because of an infection. I was worried about this as Charlie was neutered in September last year and i thought it would be too much for him, but he was done and is ok now....just hope that the problem doesn't come back though. I just have to give him more fibre included in his diet! It doesn't hurt when they have it done....Patch seemed fine! Shannon
