1. I am a collie mom myself, but my sister is an aussie breeder and has been breeding them for nearly 30 years. They recently had a litter, they were blessed with 3 red merles and one blue this time, plus 3 redheads. They are so cute - you can't help but laugh at all their antics! They are great dogs, they are always just so happy!!!
2. WOW - the collie standards are so different than here in the US! Thanks for sharing, I love your collies, funny how we just presume that the confirmation standards would be the same. Just wondering, are these EU standards? I know nothing about international showing. Since the gene pool is different, do you have problems with Ivermectin in collies or problems like "collie eye". Collies here have really changed over the last 60 years, your dogs have the more traditional look. Thanks for sharing photo's, keep them coming ...[/img]
3. Consider fostering a collie!
4. I Melissajean - I am a newbie here too - but I am a collie mom. I volunteer in collie rescue and I have adopted 2 "unadoptables" from rescue (due to their BAD behavior). Although I am down to 1 collie now, he's very energetic. Forces you to get out and do things with the dogger. Many collies are very placid, non chalant, stoic, apathetic and lazy. You may find a good match for you and your energy level, especially if you adopt an older collie, I would also suggest you get involved in Collie rescue before you adopt, they are excellent for resources, you will get an oppurtunity to meet many collies so you CAN find a good match. Rescues may have special needs or "challenges", but involving yourself in rescue allows you to reaaly get to know a dogger before actually committing to one. 5. I am a rescuer in NY, just north of Manhattan - The ASPCA in NYC is a no kill shelter - however there are several other shelters in the area who cannot claim to be 'no kill shleter" many have the 3 day limit and I might add horrible conditions. The lucky ones get to go the the ASPCA. I use the NY ASPCA frequently as a resource http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=about
