1. Standard or toy poodle? I saw the one in the morning were the smooth fox terrier won. Usually the bishon or kerry blue wins.Is there any UKC dog show televised?
2. Thanks!! I started introducing him & playing around with the ball, tossing it & stuff & he was biting the ball & then left it alone. While I was at my computer he started rolling the ball around & playing with it!!He's not very much interested in the tug-a-war,but he sniff & had a few bites on the squeaky fluffy cube thing.he gets the idea though. But he much perfers chasing birds, running,er,hopping amok in the yard & he loves those dental bones, its better than my hand anyways!!lol. Thanks again for your help & advice
3. Thanks Matty for defending me.Okay I called Cookie ''it'' two times in this thread & your attacking me,I guess its your quirk, but you don't have to overreact just because instead of him or Cookie I call him an ''it''.Its just easier for me instead of mistakening it with a she,as my last Cookie was a girl & I just tend to use it alot, even with Didi or my birds, its a habit, sorry. Okay another puppy question, sorry when do puppy's raise the leg for peeing?I haven't taken Cookie to the groomers yet :o ,my mom came home late yesterday & the groomers are closed today,so hopefully Monday. But I've used up all my doggy wipes cleaning under the belly after he pees.Is it an instinct thing,or will he do as the females do and pee in that siting position,or is it because he is beinging influenced by Didi? ''it free'' happy?
4. oh ok thanks!!so it seems i have two different type of dogs :P human orientated (cookie) & toy orientated (didi). its a shih tzu so I guess where it gets its stubborness is in the breed & is more people orientated than toy orientated
5. I don't know the puppy's background, but its not responding good with toys. He's really playful,he likes chasing you, hopping around the backyard & loves belly rubs & beining a baby.Unlike Didi you could actually hold him upside down like a baby!! (Didi hates that). But,I throw a ball, doesn't chase it,buy a toy that squeaks, doesn't squeak it,a tug-a-war,doesn't tug, nothing.Any suggestions?
6. http://web.tickle.com/tests/puppypersonality/ Nathalie, your puppy's a Best Friend True blue, loyal, and fun, you've got a best friend forever in this pint-sized puppy. Your puppy's ready for anything — as long as you're along for the ride. It's not just that you like some of the same things — from cuddling to playing catch, it's that you understand each other. You know when he needs a belly rub, he knows when you need a nuzzle. It just works. There are few things that your Best Friend wouldn't do for you, or you for him. Got errands? Want to go for a walk? You've got a built in companion, someone who's game for a new adventure, and excited just to be out there enjoying the world. And if the chips are ever down? Your four-legged friend will be there to comfort you. And while it might initially seem strange that he thinks asking you to scratch his rump would make you feel better — strangely enough, it kind of does, doesn't it? With a friend like that, you'll be forever wondering how you could have managed life before he came along.
7. thanks mutts for the advice & sorry about the whole ''it'' thing!! :D
8. i mean like its the type of decisions ''I'' make as a teen, sorry I'm not good with phrasing stuff, didn't mean to put a certain age group in it,i agree with you.
9. thanks for the advice abker,i mean with me its just beinging a teen with having a dog, like i know it wasn't going to have the best lifestyle but i just had to have it.like other choices, for example sex,i could catch something, but i have to have sex,or i could get lung cancer, but i have to smoke.and i was narrow-minded too,i didn't believe if a dog wasn't sick, that it didn't have to go to the vet.like some kids are racists because their parents are racist & thats how they were brought up.actually my mom is a racist & i learned not to follow her footsteps in her decision.even though she hates the friends i chose to be with, its my decision.just like i broke the whole a dog is lesser than a human & should be raised that way. i'm not talking about people on the boards, they probably have way more experience & take care of their dog much better,i'm talking about the kids where i live.
10. thanks :D didn't i used to talk to you before?
11. yea i know dogs aren't perfect little angels, didi had a dog aggression and we worked with that,& cookie the second is going to puppy class.i know it wasn't an excuse for surrendering the dog,but its already been done, plus their was no way i could of changed my mom's mind.
12. ok your saying that i'm not a responsible dog owner for a 15yr. old,and where my kids at my school, even kids from middle school think having a dog means money & fighting.hey thats the way it is over here,i'm not sure there a many 15yr. olds that take care of their dog like me.some of my friends that own dog still haven't taken their dog to a vet & i can't make up their mind to take their dog to the vet.not even dogs, but other animals too.cats inside?they are more concerned about their health about hairballs & shedding than the cat getting fiv.even the adults here think that way, thats just the way it is.i mean the world isn't full of spayed,vaccine,pearled-up dogs.i mean isn't beinging a dog owner learning in the process? and thanks everyone for their advice :D
13. excuse me where are you getting i surrendered a dog at 3months,i got the dog at three months, and surrendered it at 6months,yes its still a young pup & i didn't give it a chance.you don't have to believe me,its your belief, but there are people that surrender their pets to shelters because of behavior issues,in this case teething, which i learned wasn't even a reason why to give a dog up.but 90% of the dogs in the pounds are surrender because of behavior issues, thats the truth.
14. over the years i've learned about dogs when i was 7-10 my first 3 dogs never had a collar,my first was an outside dog, they were never vaccine & never tooken to the vet,my mom didn't want to waste her money on vet bills if they weren't seriously sick & we had no knowledge in rabies tag since we just moved to the united states from dominican republic were all this bsl & enforced dog tags aren't even an issue, they didn't even eat dog kibble, they ate human food.until i got my 4th dog (current dog) i was 11 & started having responsiblity in dog ownership.
15. i'm not sure about 60pounds at estimate
16. ok ya have been dog lovers since like forever.my friends think i'm weird on how much attention i give my dogs & how deeply i feel about them.they've helped me in situations from failing a test to getting raped.most of the dogs my friends & my community has are tied up in the back yard, and just are played with a couple hours a day, groomed once a moth, and fed everyday.they don't have dog ownership education like they have sex education in school or in society.you have to research that stuff.most people don't do that.my mother has been raised like every other person in my neighboorhood were the dog is kept outside leashed up.i've done my researched about outside dogs & unlike the rest, its strange to them, but i don't like it.they think a dog's place is outside.and the shelter as they advertise here in all these animal planet shows is the only place to take an animal when it could be no longer be taken care of.my neighboorhood isn't like yours.a dog bites someone, and people don't even take it to the pound, they shoot it,thats the sad reality.so the shelter was really the safest place for cookie,if i gave it away to someone & it had biten someone, without their knowledge of teething,I don't know what could of happen to her.its hard to find a ''lovely home'' around here,so thats why i agreed with my mom, even though i wanted to keep her & took her to the shelter.
17. well it must of been a mistake, she couldn't of been any younger than 3 months old,it was a large dog, bigger than a spaniel & i've never seen no 2 month old puppy that big.maybe you misread or i made a mistake.and i remember marking her 3 months old on march the 20th & we had her for about 3 months since we got her in march.i remember she was exactly 6 months old when surrendered, since my mom asked me how old was she.
18. sorry let me rephrase that ''she'',i'm getting confused here since, the first cookie was a she,and the 2nd is a he.i think i'm going to call cookie the 2nd a she sooner or later, almost did in my last post lol.cookie the 1st was akita/gsd mix,she was 4months old when we got her and about 6 or 7 months old when she was taken to the shelter
19. Cookie is enrolled in Puppy Class at Petsmart,is doing pretty good in his potty training, one accident so far,and no teething, the previous owner took care of that,I'm still going to buy him some kong toys & rawhide incase it comes back as a habit, its a couple of months old so I'm sure his teeth are hurting, which is strange since it hasn't biting any furniture or human yet.
20. okay i would hold off the dog park until the vaccines, thanks for the advice  well yeah, but it wasn't my decision 100%,my mom had the idea of the shetler,if it were my decision i would find a loving home for cookie the 1st,plus it was much larger type of puppy.i was wrong that i didn't train it enough & just gave up on it,but atleast its in a loving home now,I found out from the shetler's website. Thanks everyone for the congrats!!cookie is here running amok with didi in the room, having a good time.
21. I just got my 2nd dog!!His name is Cookie & he's a shih tzu.We changed the name from DJ to Cookie, since we had a dog named Cookie & kept her tag, instead of wasting more money, just give the dog the same name as the old dog & but on the tag.Today we are buying all the supplies, collar, leash, toys, treats & then take him to the groomers because he's matted in some places, but he loves to cuddle & is so soft & playful. Then on Saturday he's going to the dog park along with Didi for the 1st time. Then next week he's going to get his rabies shot & tag.of course when we buy the supplies we have to get some toys & treats for Didi & the birds too, won't want them to be left out!!Pictures Comming Soon!! :D
22. Wow that's great. Right now Didi is learning the Electric Dance lol.
23. What are your thoughts on it?Most people enroll their dog in agility or flyball, but what about freestyling? I self-trained my dog to ''freestyle'' to some rap beats.Of course it took some months & patience but she's got it.One of her speciality is to the song ''kunck if you buck'' sung by crime mob, were the steps are right front paw foward, left front paw foward, step to the left, step to the right & spin. :D Are any of your dogs involved in freestyling? :)
