3. OH- last year I took Stealth back home to Alabama and had him playing in the Tennessee River after Hurricane Ivan. The river was so flooded. We (my 2 brothers and 7 year old cousin and Stealth) had so much fun! He loves the water! I just can't wait I need the WHITE FLORIDA SANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, Can anyone tell me how to post pictures on here? Each time that I do it keeps messing up so I need help on this! Jessica[/img]
4. :D :D :D I am so excited! I am taking Stealth to Destin, FL for vacation! We found a lovely condo that is animal friendly and the owner of the condo told me that there is a sound across the way that people take their dogs to and they can play in the water!!!!!!!!! I am so excited! With him being a Black Lab I know that he will love it plus we will be able to play with him!!!!!!!!!!! I am so HAPPY!!!!!!!!! He is now 1 year and 4 months old and almost 90 lbs. :D
5. I don't understand that either.......I could not have it anyother way. when we watch movies Stealth is either laying on my lap or on the recliner with my husband.......
6. Stealth does that and I thought that it was so funny the first time he ever did that at 2 1/2 months old.......then from time to time he would kick his legs and I guess he was sleeping in the right spot and heading into dream world.......
7. I started having that problem with Stealth when he was younger. He is in his kennel during the day and sleeps with us at night.........but while he was in the kennel while we were home we really did not talk to him and acknowledge him because it would allow him a way out and we just let him bark and when he was good either sitting in the kennel or even laying down we would allow him back out and give him a treat and even when we got him to go into the kennel we would give him a treat......now all we do is Stealth Kennel as a command and he goes in there and lays down! I have his kennel set up in the living room and turn the tv on to cartoons for him so that way he knows what is going on at all times....and he is really happy and the only time he freaks out with me is when i clean and he knows we are home.......I know some say that the kennel is cruel however if you get a big enough one and you help them to know it is okay they will start treating it like a safe house.......I know Stealth now goes in his kennel to take naps on weekends and when were are home at night and he even goes in there during thunderstorms....... The problem i have with giving my friend advise on the 2 dogs is the fact they do not allow them in the main part of the house......
8. Hey all here- yall have been so much help for me now i am asking for a friend- she has two 7month old part lab/pitbull mixes and they stay in the basement area where they have a playroom with kennels. They will not allow them to go upstairs at all and so when they are out of the kennels and everyone is around one of the girls will get in my co-workers lap and fall asleep and then when everyone is not around they go NUTS in their kennels and she is afraid she will hurt herself. What would you guys suggest? She is going to try a doggie daycare where Stealth goes but what else...... I know Stealth had that problem but with him he had access to the whole house.....and we would put him in the kennel while we were around to kinda let him know it is okay for him to be in there but......... Jessie
9. thanks for the info-----yeah that is what i am nervous about.......I just wished that I could find a beach area there where I could take him in the water. I know that the beach where we are staying at is a island off of Pensacola Florida so there are alot of private areas........I am crossing my fingers! Jessie
10. Pressed rawhides?????? is that the name of it or just the kinda of rawhides..... he loves to chew on toys.....
11. WOW! Thanks for all of the replies.......Yes, Stealth is doing much better now. He actually slept on my stomach and his head on my chest...I guess a comfort issue. He is about 1 year and 3 months and a 85 lb dog. He still thinks that he is a pup though. I know that he does really good with the big bags of rawhides and and squared/rectangle shapped ones but the one that the threw up was from a medium size bone shapped...I am not sure how he did it. I gave him one of the rawhides that he does well with last night but i noticed that it was in the very back of his mouth but no problems- is that normal? I could not reach it to pull it out but 15 min later i guess he either spit it out or swallowed it....... Also, do you guys know what I should bring on a vacation for him? as far as toys...we are renting a condo. Let me know! I know the main thing is his kennel!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get him in the ocean a little bit- we will be in the panhandle of florida....... Jessie
12. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I heard once not to give him the big rawhides and that smaller ones are better....But unfortunately for Stealth he will not be getting them any longer. What are the nylabones? Also, what would be a good chew toy as he rips up his stuffed animals.......He is so bad! Thanks, Jessie
13. Okay, so it is 2:14 am and I have been awake since about 1:30 am- Stealth woke me up with him hacking. He normally chews a rawhide just before bedtime. He is now licking the floor and coughing and just threw up a pile of rawhides and some other nasty liquid. I took him out side because he went straight to the door and he ate alot of grass. What is wrong? Should he not have anymore rawhides? After a little while he stopped the hacking but now all he wants is the grass. Please help! I am so worried about him. Jessie
14. i know that just kills me and plus alot of big dogs are just wimps and big babies.....well atleast mine is. LOL actually i looked at www.floridavacations.com which is a site for rental homes in florida and i got one in Pensacola, Fl and he is only charging me 50 for Stealth to go. I am really excited. Thanks for the help I will also look into those. Jessica
15. Hello All It has been a long time since I have written. Stealth is doing great. He turned 1 yrs on March 26th and is fat as can be. I think that we are on a average of 85lbs. Here is my problem. My husband and I and his mom are planning on going on vacation this summer- actually towards the end. If my mother in law did not go then she would watch Stealth. But we wanted to invite her along and bring Stealth because I don't want to kennel him at all. I don't have anyone else to watch him and all. Does anyone know any hotels that would accept a 85 lb dog? He is kennel trained and house trained. Please someone help. For those who want to know why I will not kennel him is because he goes crazy if he is in the kennel and someone is around and he is not one to be in the kennel all day and I don't think that he will do good because he also suffers from seperation. Thanks All! Jessica
16. see- i already have a lab but the thing is we want a 2nd dog but want a small one...and you don't have to send them obedience class- if you yourself work with them you can do a good job you just have to have the time....and he is doing awesome w/out the class- very smart and brite- i just don't want to spend $1200 on a dog
17. hey all- if you know someone in northern virginia that is getting rid of any puppies please let me know- depending on the price...please let me know
18. Hey Guys, Yep...That is right...my brother-in-law's and his girlfriend have 2 dogs....Lab and Chow mix...they are 9 months or older now...he has yet to register them with the Prince William Co. Animal Control here in VA...on top of that the last time the dogs had any shots or had their nails clipped was when they got them back in MAY...and now it is NOVEBMBER!!!!!!! and you know that just PISSES me off...I have a 7 month old lab....he is on a wellness plan with Banfield..you can find them in most PetSmarts...well because of the plan...the shots are free...and getting him fixed was free....and on top of that he cannot afford the dogs..and she does not work...but what really gets me is that one of the dogs the more aggressive one jumped the fence and bit another dog...and that owner did not do anything...I would be all over them like stink on a skunk...but I know everyone loves their pets just as their kids... but there are some people out there that should not have animals just like there are some parents that should not have kids...I am so wanting to call the County Animal Control on them and not say who is calling only because there are so many people who are doing the right thing and obeing the law...and they never let the dogs out except to potty..and those were her dogs...she pitched a fit to get them and got them w/money that she inherited....and guess who takes care of them.. he does...it just makes me SICK.....what should I do...keep my mouth shut...or call in and not say who I am.... I really need to know what to do...I know what I would like to do.... Oh, in past topics I asked for help on Stealth...he is doing awesome...we go to dog parks, he goes to doggie day care...he has been out because of a small tissue tear in his front right leg...but he is 7 months old and is 65lbs...how big are most labs by the time they are 1...his playmate baylee is only like 43lbs...but i think she is going to be a smaller lab.. Thanks Guys, Jessica & Tim & Stealth Holsinger
19. HI, I have a 12 week old Lab. He is the nicest dog and is very loving. I have only had him for about a week. During the whole time I have been able to be with him or someone has been with him the whole time. I am trying to kennel train him however when I put him in he barks all of the time. I have tried to talk to him and tell him it is okay and that he will be just fine. He fell asleep in the kennel at my aunts house and did just great but he only slept once in ours. I don't want to leave him out side also because he is non-stop barking. This is my first puppy and I don't know what to do. I am so at lost because I have to start back work in the morning..Please help. Thanks!
