  1. Like all of us- I am biased as well! I would have to say shiba inus! There is something so natural, and almost wild about their beauty, that really draws me to them. The Japanese say that it should look as if the dog has stepped out of a forest, for the express purpose of being tamed by you. This handsome devil is Taro, an import boy at San Jo kennels, where I was lucky enough to get my buddies. I think he comes close to embodying what the Japanese breeders had in mind. 2. Newfiemom- I just had to agree w/you about Hawkeye! He was the first Landseer Newfie I had ever seen, and he was truly incredible. Can all of the colors result from a breeding of two black newfs? Or must at least one of the pair be landseer/brown/grey etc? I know w/shibas that every once in a while you can get a black and tan pup out of a breeding of two reds, but it's pretty uncommon. I too would love to see a picture of a grey newf- I've seen every other color, and I think they are all stunning.
  3. I have been a big follower of Aussies as I hope to get one after I graduate. I have heard of the mini Aussies (though I have always been a much bigger fan of the standard guys) but toy Aussies- sounds like a $$$ mine to me. Those dogs have GOT to be mixed with Chihuahua- in fact, they look more like longhaired Chihuahuas than they do Australian shepherds. [/i]
  4. i definitely have to agree w/you kiger- the show really does depict some irresponsible breedings. i remember watching one about a woman breeding service dogs; she was breeding a lab bitch (around 7 years old or so) and i think she said something to the effect that she was breeding this girl every heat! This is supposed to be a responsible woman, and here she is saying, "well i'm really worried about her. i have bred her alot, and she's getting older, this pregnancy might be really difficult." and of course it was. (luckily all the puppies were fine- but if she was really that concerned, why was she breeding this older girl?) it shocked me, especially considering the fact that she was breeding service dogs. not the kind of person i would ever buy a puppy from!
