  1. He's fine now, the vet gave me some meds to give him. I was so worried while I was waiting to hear from the vet though! And bored! Jesse is my anti-depressant, can't get down with him around! :P I don't see how people with a dog can ever get bored. Thanks for your concern. :D

  2. Beta doesn't like having her nails clipped either, she whines the whole time. I clip one nail, give her a treat she really really likes, pet her give her belly rubs and praise her for being so brave then I clip the next one and so on. Yesterday I clipped her nails and voila! She barely whined at all!

  3. Yesterday the neighbors dog came in the yard when Jesse and Beta were inside. They seen him and went nuts, barking and growling making all kinds of noise! I told them to hush and go lie down so Jesse starts to walk away past the table. Well, the cat was on one of the chairs and she thought she'd teach Jesse a lesson for making all that fuss so she sunk her claws into the poor little guys head! :o Jesse screamed and she let go then he got MAD, he's a true terrier! He went after the cat barking and growling and for a few seconds it sounded like someone was getting murdered! I managed to split them up and get Jesse calmed down, it's a good thing Beta didn't get in on it, fur would've started to fly! The cat was still mad so I cooled her down with a cup of water. I looked at Jesse's head and there were two little claw marks, poor guy. Later on I told Mom we need a spray bottle of water. Spray the dogs when they're acting up, spray the cat when she tried to go for the dogs, spray my little brother when he's being annoying!

  4. West Highland Terrier
Pros: Loyal, friendly, smart, not yappy, very affectionate(Jesse is anyway :D )
Cons: Need daily grooming to look neat, dirt shows easily, short legs so they get muddy easily, stubborn, not good with small animals.

    Shepherd/Rottie/Lab mix
Pro's: Smart, good guard dog, friendly and affectionate, good with kids, steady temper, not quick to get mad, good with almost all animals.
Con's: Headstrong, roams, dislikes some dogs and might fight.

  5. This morning Jesse was acting kind of strange when I let him in the house. He was kind of stiff legged and was keeping his tail hunched. He then tried to go to the washroom in the house so I put him outside again and he strained to "go" out there too. His poo is almost diarhea but he can't go to the washroom. Is he constipated? A few days ago or more he swallowed a piece of rawhide before I could stop him, is this what is causing it? Should I get him to the vet? He is still outside and can't go, please help. :( Thankyou.

  6. I've never had any really stupid questions asked to me about my dogs. One person I know said to me:

"I don't know how you handle your dog, she's part Rottweiler!"

Some people seen my sheep walking around the yard, she's really tame because I bottle fed her, and they're like:

    "What is that?!"
    "It's a sheep."
"How do you teach a sheep to be like a dog!?"

  7. The neighbors Yellow Lab has started to come over to our place to play with Jesse. They have a great time together but today Jesse started to follow him from the yard. Jesse has never roamed before and I don't want him to start but he will with any more influence from this dog. Hate to break up their fun but I don't want Jesse to be a roamer. The lab reminds me of Tramp on Lady and the Tramp. What should I do if he comes over again? By the way, he's not neutered as far as I know. :-?

  8. I didn't know that Iams or any dog food companies did that. :o I'm glad it got of the subject, you learn something new every day! I'm definately going to tell people about this! :x
By the way, I've never seen the commercial so I don't know.

  9. Two new pups came in during the last week. The pictures aren't up yet but one of the pups looks like it could be a black lab. He's three months old and was very timid when he came in but is a happy little guy now. The other pup is a Sheltie cross, very cute and fluffy. They won't be there long. :D

A couple of people are thinking of adopting two of the pups from the same litter. I've heard this isn't a good idea, is it?

  10. I went to a dog show last weekend and seen the most amazig, stunning looking dog! I decided right then and there that was the next dog I would get, all others ruled out. An Irish Wolfhound! It won't be for a few years at least but I was wondering if anyone had one or if they had any information about them? I've heard they are very gentle and most I've seen are friendly. I'd apprecciate any replies you might have. :D

  11. I think a person should get a dog from a breeder or a rescue/shelter. If a person throws out a dog because it didn't look the way they thought it would, they are getting a dog for the wrong reason, in my opinion. I think a BYB is someone who is just breeding their dog with no regards to health, where the pups will go, and who are doing it for money alone.

  12. Thanks! :D

Cole is awesome! Problem is he doesn't like other pets, too bad. One dog not up for adoption is my favorite, her name is Cleo. She's been at the shelter for so many years they've become very attached to her and her to them. She has free run of the place at all times and is boss of the gang, people too. :) She is only up for adoption by long time members of the Humane Society.

  13. I went to the Humane Society this evening to train to be a volunteer. It was great and the dogs were a lot of fun. Here are some pictures of the gang, I really like Nicholas he's a little cuddler:

  14. I posted a little while back that my Gramma wanted to breed her Shih Tzu to a pomeranian. Well, I as over there the other day with my dog, Jesse. Gramma doesn't really like the dog, she said "Molly" is too hyper and she keeps her crated or tied most of the time. Mom told her she should take Molly everywhere with her to socialize her but Gramma said she's too wild to do that. She's very smart and was housebroken in a few days but has been taught nothing at all! Not even to sit! I gave her a little lesson and she picked it up very fast. George, who lives with my Gramma, likes the pup a lot but he is pretty much dog illiterate. He wrestles over a bone with her until she's growling and he says she's just playing. Thankfully they are going to buy her some good quality food, she goes to the groomer every now and then but I don't think she gets much care otherwise. Her toenails were very long, next time I'm over I'm taking my clippers and doing it myself. I could hardly get a brush through her fur! Now I heard my Gramma wants to get another dog and breed them. I'm going to mention to her that it's not a good idea but I don't know if she'll listen.
I think Gramma is just expecting Molly to be like her last dog. He was devoted to Gramma. He was quite old when he died. Also their last dog was 16 when she died. I feel sorry for Molly, she avoids Gramma a lot because she gets yelled at a lot for just scampering around the house, poor girl. :(
Sorry it's long, I just had to vent.

  15. In our newspaper there were some ads that makes it easy to see why dog overpopulation is such a big problem, this is what they said:

Stud Dog-Male Yorkie/Pom cross. Great temperament would have wonderful pups.

Chocolate Lab pups for sale: 23 males, 4 females. No papers.

That last one sounds a little like a puppy mill and a lot like an irresponsible breeder.*Sigh* Why don't some people just go down to the Humane Society and see all the wonderful dogs that need a good home?!

  16. That is a sad, difficult problem. :( I'm glad you are trying to help the poor dog, I don't think I'd ever be able to put down a pet of any sort. I can't even kill a pet fish, my brothers dispose of them when they are sick. Is it at all possible that someone could wash her off before the trip? Maybe suck some very strong candy like Vicks or something to partly block out the smell while she's being cleaned.
