1. They are both doing wonderful. You should se the progress Amadeus has made since we adopted him. He was so skiddish, now he runs up to anyone and everyone and just has a ball with them. :  Bandit has adjusted quite well to Amadeus and he is now teaching him all sorts of ways to annoy me.
2. hey all, been gone for some time, I know. Sorry..... Just have had a rough time that I would rather keep private. Anyway, see you later Alligators
3. NO, Bull Boxers are NOT APBT/Boxer crosses, they are Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Boxer crosses. Nice guess though Laduenda....haye, didn't I see you on the dog fighting site?
4. AKC, Bull Boxers? Don't you know they are just a mix bred by stupid people who just wanted the money? All they are is a Boxer mixed with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, NOT a Pit Bull.
5. Hey guys. The day after I started this thread, I called the right people and the dog was taken straight to the vet by the humane society. From what I saw, he gained about 30 pounds since then. That is quite a lot. He is a Pit mix and is about to be relocated into a foster home. Thatnks for the help guys!
6. Today, while I was walking Amadeus and Bandit, I looked at one of the houses in my neighborhood. Now, I know for a fact the people who live there are drug dealers and that the cops have been watching them for a few weeks now, but I never knew they had a dog. It was today that I learned, the worst way. I heard a screaming cry in the backyard and I knew it was a dog. I peeked over the fence, knowing nobody was home, and I saw the thinnest Pit Bull Terrier I have ever seen, and I watch Animal Precinct! I immediately got out of there and ran home to find some food I could throw over to him/her. I got some meat out of Amadeus and Bandit's stash and tossed it into the little bowl the dog was lying next to. It gobbled it up in les than 30 seconds which told me that this dog was never fed and that it had no disease which was what I thought at first. I called the vet's office and got some information. They told me that the way I described the dog made them think it wouldn't last much longer, even if it was taken to a veterinarian and given the best care. I wish there was something I could do, but the cops already knew about it so I can't really do anything. This is eating me up inside. How do those people sleep at night? :x
7. Amadeus Information: Name: Amadeus Age: around 2 years Weight: somewhere around 120 (underweight) Breed: Probably Husky/ Wolf mix or just Husky mix. Loved By: EVERYONE
8. Bigdog, we all know that all breeds were originally mixes, but nowadays we consider them purebreds. {Yes, breds, not breads!} If you read my post, you'll see what I feel about this. And most of the other member's posts have made a lot of sense as well.
9. Bandit loves having Amadeus to play with and romp around with. Bandit has declared himself head dog of the house, allowing himself to be the one to eat first and also to be out the door first when it's opened. Amadeus seems to respect being a "lower ranked" dog. I ranked them both head dogs, but the Wolf instincts of Bandit's breed obviously do not agree with my judgement.
10. On this topic, I can honestly go both ways. You certainly need to look at the big picture here. Creating new breeds for money is obviously absurd and should never happen. But if you are honestly trying to just breed, then I believe you need some very good reasons to back up your program. Most people who create new breeds are making them for people to have a good companion animal, which we have plenty of as of now. Others are making a new type of work dog that people who have allergies will not be affected by and can enjoy both the pet side and working side of the dog. Still others are in it, of course, all for money top waste away on themselves. But, there is that teensie weensie percentile who believe what they are doing is for the good of dogs all over. This is the part I find odd, but very truthfull. [People agreeing with AKC or breed standards may not want to read past this point] AKC and other breed clubs have set certain standards for dogs. Unfortunately, these standards, which involve selective breedings, have brought with them, not only awards and Westminster winnings, but also many health disorders as well. Take the Bernese Mt. Dog for an example. It has an extremely high risk of cancer and hip displaycia. This breed is one of the shortest lived large breeds out there. Most live no longer {from what iI have seen} than about 10 years. The life expectancy of Berners is about 8 or 9. This is mostly due to the fact that they are no longer bred for working, but rather for showing. Conformation is all the rage these days it seems, have the best conformed dog, win the prettiest ribbons and trophies. But is it really worth have all these health problems in the end? I do not think so, that's why I am not currently a fan of showing dogs are breeding to strict standards. Anyway, my point is,some people are creating new breeds because of their belifes that AKC and other breed club standards have ruined the original healthy dogs of the world. There you go, something to think about for the rest of this thread.
11. Remember the offer I took up on the stray dog at the pound? Of course you do. Anyway, 3 days after I made my last post here, I went and picked him up. He is home now and here is the first and only picture I had taken of him before my camera decided it didn't like me anymore. Hope you like him. This is the picture I managed to capture on our way to the vets office yesterday. He looked happy until I mentioned the word Vet to him! As you can see, Bandit just had to put a little of his butt in the picture. Oh, and we decided to name him Amadeus. (A-may-dee-yuss)
12. Hi HazelNutMeg. I feed this diet and Bandit does fantastic on it. I steer very clear of commercial pet foods like Purina and such. (No offence to anyone) I like this article though.
13. I live right next to "MiniAussies" and I have taken extreme precautions as well. The community wouldn't let me put hot wires up though! I do have a camera and signs out though. Bandit always eats grass out back so it does scare me a bit too.
14. Hello all. I was wondering, since genetics is the topic, could one of you post a link to something on it? I'd like to learn a little more so I could maybe join on the thread some. Also, I read some stuff about inbreeding and just wanted to say, you guys are smart!
15. LOL. Don't worry, it's only hubby who needs to do that. From what this lady told me, the dog's picture said he was about Bandit's height. Which is wonderful, because Bandit "hunts" anything smaller than he.
16. A lady with the local shelter who is a good friend of mine walked into me early this morning when I was running. She informed me that a possible Wolf mix or Husky mix was being brought in. She told me because of his possible Wolf background that he'd probably be euthinized within 2 weeks. Now I just couldn't let that happen. She asked me if I was interested in having another dog....and I said yes!! I still have to clear this with the man of the house, but even if he doesn't agree, I am getting another dog!!
