Guest Anonymous
and it's not because of my clipping skills either. Seems those mats were hiding a bald dog. I should have taken better pictures but I was in shock I had hubby do it. There is dandruf but no scaling no redness...is this a diet issue? YES they are going to go to the vet. I'm terrified to cut their nails. behle
Aaww...poor little things. :( Especially Teddie.... So the mats were like a really bad toupee? I don't think I've ever seen that before. :o
Guest Anonymous
Pretty much a bad toupe. It took me a minute to figure out why since I wasn't touching the clippers to his skin why he was coming out bald. I want to cry over these guys. Canis erectus
Poor Teddy, I wonder if the combonation of poor diet plus heavy matting were breaking and plucking the hairs out of his little hide?
ShatteringGlass
I've seen that happen to heavily matted cats and dogs at my work. When the mats are really bad, they basically pull the hair out, and whats left when the mat is shaved is a big bald spot.
Horsefeathers!
Poor guys. They're going to feel soooooooo much better, Tammy! Heavy matting can indeed cause hair loss (as well as poor diet). I've seen several dogs like that... the hair was so matted that when it was clipped off, it just came off in clumps leaving exposed skin. I don't know if you remember the little ol' dilapidated Yorkie we used to have, but he was initially matted badly and when clipped, he was as naked as a new baby. His hair grew in after that into a beautiful Yorkie coat. Sometimes you just have to rub a lump of coal long enough for it to become a diamond. Your guys are just diamonds in the rough and they are going to be so much happier.
Guest Anonymous
Thank you all! The former "Owner" was shocked he was bald underneath. Claimed I did something. I told him to hold on and grabbed Teddy (who screamed bloddy murder) and showed him. He looked carefully for scrapes from my blade. THERE ARE NONE YOU DOLT! I have started him on fish oil caps...is that the right thing to help this boy? I'm glad to know I'm probably just dealing with neglect and not much else. I haven't heard anything from Pom Posse lately.

Guest Anonymous
I'll post after pictures when I get her finished...she STILL isn't done being shaved.
Mutt_Lady
Teddy looks so vulnerable and naked, the poor little thing. However, you did what you had to and I'm sure Teddy is grateful. Mats cannot be anyone fun for anyone. I also want to add that you are an angel for taking them in and taking great care of them, Tammy. Well done! You are such a sweetheart. :)
