Guest Anonymous
The way I train my young dogs to tree coons is to let them learn from the best. I have always been babbled to my fellow handlers..." Do not let your pups learn from your other veterens, it will not work." Now, just about every handler this side of northeastern NC has taken their puppies and had them follow older dogs. This is an effective way, especially for Redbones since they are very pack orientated when raised in that type of home, to train your hound (coonhound that is) to tree coons. This is how I am training my four puppies, Daisy, Dot, Trigger, and Flash. These four little specks of red are just 5 months old and started their training from day one, but they will actually be able to tree very soon! Peng1zrule
I don't have anything special to add...I'm from NC too and like hounds...I don't hunt--I don't have the heart to! I do admire (adore) dogs that work!
Guest Anonymous
We are going to train our pup to flush/retrieve - do you clicker train your hounds? Just curious. Have you heard of anyone clicker training their hounds or bird dogs? Thanks
