I grew up with a Britany, name of Millie, and a Cocker Spaniel mix, named Sandy. Millie belonged to my dad but Sandy was all mine heart and soul. So much so that I vowed when I moved out I would get another spaniel. When my husband said I could get a dog he laid down some requirments.

1) I had to choose a purebreed. He's not fond of mixed breeds.

2) I had to choose a toy breed. Sandy made him uncomfortable (she was a medium sized dog). Of course, this requirment left out all spaniels or so I thought.

While looking through an AKC breed book I borrowed from the library, I came across a black and white 2"x2" photograph of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in the toy breed section. I was in love! :iloveyou: I haven't turned back since... even when it took 5 years to get one of my own.

When asked what my favorite breed is I can enthusiasticlly say the Cavalier King Charles! :fadein:

Breeds I've had:

German Shepherds. (6 total.) 2 right now. A 5yo black female(spayed.) And a 7 month old black sable male.

I also currently have a ACD/Aussie mix. 3yo male. He looks a lot like an ACD, But has a natural bob-tail and is Blue Merle(Like an Aussie.)

2 Catahoula Leopard Dogs. (Black Tri female and BLue Leopard Male.)
Standard Schnauzer. She was an AWESOME obedience dog. Got 3 scores of 200 and one 199.5 in Obedience Competition. (The judge that gave her the 199.5 said that the reason she got that score is because he doesn't believe in a perfect 200.)

When I was a kid we had mixes until I got my first GSD when I was 11. (One of the coolest mixes we had was a Boxer/GSD mix.)

"Maybe someday", (Actually these are the ones I would choose from if I COULDN"T have a GSD or ACD.)

Dutch Shepherd
Caucasina Ovtcharka
Beauceron
Giant Schnauzer

"When I am old and can't control a large dog", I would choose from these:

Schipperke
Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Cavalier King Charles
Tibetan Spaniel
Norfolk Terrier

My favorite breeds are American Pit bull Terriers (what I own now), Rotties (I owned a three legged Rottie before she passed away, four years ago).

And I wish I owned:

French Bulldog-because who could not love this little mushy marshmellow face?

Breeds I have owned/fostered:
Crossbreeds - corgi x GSD, collie x greyhound
Pedigrees - 2 foster greyhounds, bearded collie and boxer

Couldnt pick a fave, as I loved them all equally, but if it came down to my theoretical favourite breed, it would be the boxer.

Breeds I'd like to own:
More crosses, bullmastiff, more boxers, rottie, rhodesian ridgeback, leonberger, any other large/giant mastiff type other than the Neo. :)

Oh my goodness this is a long thread.
I love German Shepherds (German Workling lines to get technical, I don't like the backs of American or german showlines)
SHELTIES!!!! (While I love many different breeds, Shelties are the true one for me)
and Labs! The stocky type labs - I can't remember which type that is English or American???
My first very own dog was a Sheltie that I got when I was 11yrs old. He was a perfect dog!
My GSD looks funny in coats and bows in her hair and is too heavy to sit in my lap although she does, so I think I could use a small, glam type dog like a 4# Yorkie or something.
Whatever breed or mix I own in my lifetime will always come from rescue!
Fun topic :D
why would u like a doberman?
first, I should not take this question seriously as it comes from someone who has chosen to go by the name HITMAN. But, what is wrong with dobermans? honestly? a good, working, dog, developed from a real need, with a strong sense of family and loyalty, a BIG heart, an almost eerie-smart temperment, an advanced amount of intuition....what's wrong with a doberman?

Basically at heart I'm a bully girl so my faves are Staffies, ASTs, Brit Bullies, APBTs, American Bullies etc.

If I ever move away from the bullies though I still love the big dogs: Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Dobermans, Rotties. I don't have enough room for such big dogs, but if I ever do I would love to get a ridgeback......

But I am totally in love with the bullies - they are medium sized, loving, beautiful with other dogs when well trained/socialised, short haired, funny... oh the list goes on and on!!

Only bad things are allergies and breed specific legeislation (#@%*!!!)...

But any dog with a good personality I like (I have considered owning Duck Tollers, Basenjies and Kelpies because I love them too).....

Hey I suppose I just love dogs :P
