Guest Anonymous
I am hoping someone can help me locate a certain poem. Background: 2 of my dogs died last week. I was rather expecting my elderly Sheltie to decide it was time to go, but while I was attending to her a repairman's negligence resulted in the death of my shepherd/chow mix (she was only 7). I had a counseling appointment already scheduled, so I went - & learned my counselor had lost 5 dogs that same week (due to a misdiagnosed contageous illness). Anyway, I remember reading a poem about dogs, which contained the line "Your head evolved to fit my hand." I would like to read it again & share it w/ my counselor, but I can't remember the title or author. If you recognize the poem & remember title or author, I would really appreciate hearing from you ([email protected]). Thanx.
mouseatthebusstop
THIS IS NOT THE ONE YOU WANT BUT IT IS VERY NICE. IT WAS PUT ON OUR MEMORIAL PAGE BY MEMBER ICKLE I AM SO SORRY FOR YOU LOSS WHEN When the body that lived at your single will When the whisper of welcome is still (how still), When the spirit that answered your every mood is gone -wherever it goes - for good You will discover how much you care And will give your heart to a dog to tear Anon Ickle

Bubblezzz
I'm sorry for your loss. :( I hope you find your poem, here are 2 more that are lovely: Walk With An Old Dog by Gayl Jokiel Because you will not be forever Hope against time though I may I paint your picture in my memory Eyes blue with age, muzzle gone gray Because you walked with me in Springtime Puppy-clumsy, running free As you grew, we grew together You became a part of me Because you shared with me my sorrows Not understanding-simply there Often spurring me to laughter My friend, you know how much I care Because the years have slowed your fleetness Though your spirit still is strong I promise I will take more time now So that you can go along Because you do not fear the future Living only in the now I draw strength from your example Yet time keeps slipping by somehow Because the day will soon be coming When I will no longer see You rise to greet me-but in memory You will always walk with me Someday Your chocolate button eyes, Your joyful tailwags, Your loud barks, Your big yawns, The early mornings with you by my side, In my memory they will never die. The tiny light of your life has been blown away, Oh, what wouldn
