Crested
I've got a LOT of questions about hairless dogs and I'm thinking of makeing an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on my homepage. I have one allredy, but I thought I'd make a new version of it. I thought I'd allso put it on a page called karvattomat.cjb.net that I have about hairless dogs (in finnish only). The questions about Chinese Cresteds will go to my homepage and all the questions will go on karvattomat.cjb.net (I'll translate it). So... If there's ANYTHING you want to know, just ask. I'll anwser here and when all of your questions have been anwserd, then I'll put them on thoose pages. :) What do you think of the idea? I'll put this allso on cutefamilypets.com so you can ask me there allso. :) /Crest
imported_nea
I guess this is a kind of stupid question, but don't they get cold? How are they in snow? Or just when it gets chilly out?
Crested
I guess this is a kind of stupid question, but don't they get cold? How are they in snow? Or just when it gets chilly out?
They need clothes on cold weathers just as we people do. (Would you go on a walk naked when it's below zero celcius out and windy, or when it's snowing?) They can go quick out on winter even with a lot of minus degrees to pee-pee, but that's just quick out and quick in. Some like to play in snow when they have clothes on, but some HATE snow (like Ben does). Here's a couple pics of Ben's clothes. mouseatthebusstop
I LOVE THAT COAT THE ONE ON BEN ON THE PHOTOS :D I WOULD LIKE TO ASK CAN YOU BREED A HAIRLESS AND HAIRY ONES TOGETHER :) LIKE IN THE SHARPEI WE CAN BREED HORSE COAT TO BRUSH COAT THAT IS FINE IT DOES NOT GO ON THE PAPERS WHAT COAT TYPE THE DAM OR SIRE HAS. ONE ONLY COAT YOU DON'T BREED IS THE BEAR COAT THEY ARE USUALLY SOLD AS PETS ONLY WITH A NEWTER/SPRAY CONTRACT

This results in hairless and powder puff puppies, wich in Perro Sin Pelo Del Peru and Xolos aren't approved yet by the FCI. This is quite a shame, because many of them look exellent! Oh, and did you know that the Chinese Crested powderpuff and all other powder puffs from every else hairless breed have one thing diffirent... The Chinese Crested PP is the only one with LONG coat. :) /Crest
alicat613
Oh my goodness, that is SO cute!!!! So my question is... do you think I could train one to ride my Dane while he gallops around?? I don't know why I keep picturing that, but that would be soo cute and I think they are light enough! (No I don't really think that you can do this, but it's still a funny picture!)

I think that a big xolo wouldn't be that light, but a Chinese Crested, sure... :D Exept, I think the crestie would just jump off... Mabye you could just train it to stand on your Dane's back! :D That might work a little bit better! :D (Hah! That WOULD look funny!) /Crested
Bensam
http://www.geocities.com/debcrest/mythandlegend.html Hi. Crested, Love your dog pics. I guess you have probably looked at every web site for Cresties. The one above is for an Australian Crestie Kennel with some nice pics and info. I thought you might be interested in if you haven't already seen it. They are a lovely little dog and we have some nice ones here in Aussie. When I was judging there was nothing nicer than a warm Crestie to run your hands over on a cold day

Mille
Hi, Crested - Ben looks absolutely adorable!! What do you do with his skin in the summer? This is probably a stupid question, but does he get easily burnt in the sun?

This is probably a stupid question, but does he get easily burnt in the sun?
Well, that's actually a good question. Ben has dark enough skin that I don't have to do anything, but if a dog has light skin, then you have to apply sunscreen (is that what you call it?) on the skin. A chinese crested is a sun worshipper, whenever the sun makes a sunny spot on the floor/sofa/bed/etc. you will find your doggy there sunbatheing. So if your dog is 24/7 in the sun, you should allso apply sunscreen or try and keep him from the sun a little. :) /Crest

Crested
OOOH! Another Crestie lover!! :D :D :D I'm so happy!! I'm obsessed with Chinese Cresteds and my entire freetime I check Chinese Crested homepages and read about their info about them. I can't get enough of them! When I first saw your avtar pic I guessed it was a powder puff, but I wasn't 110% sure, so I stayed quiet. I'm so happy I was right! :D Milva looks absolutely FANTASTIC! I love her photos! It's the middle of the night here, so I'm a "bit" too tired to take a really close look at them, but I promise I will tomorrow! :D I've not been on the Xantusia kennel's homepage but I have been on Nahaci. I think the word "nahaci" means naked, or something like that... (not sure though). Have you checked Ben's page yet  ? http://personal.inet.fi/koti/crested (and there's an english version of it too) /Crest

riesa02
I really like cresteds, and have been thinking that one day when I'm rich and famous ( ;D ) I'll get one. But I'm worried about how they get along with bigger dogs - my dogs are used to small ones, such as min pins and papillons, but I'm still a bit stressed. As I'm about the house training, as I have heard they might not learn to be house trained very easily.
Dudek
My dogs are very clean  They don't make any 'surprises' at home. I think cresteds can live with other dogs. My breeder has chinese crested dog, cavalier king charles spaniel, polish hound (big!!) and Irish Wolfhound :o Dogs live together! Chinese crested runs in coursings with hounds in the garden     Polish hound:
