How energic are they? are they naughty when left alone? I am planning to crate train my puppy, and buy baby gates at the beginning, but I'd like to know if you think its a good match for Maggie? bullygirl29532 Posted April 19, 2003 Share Posted April 19, 2003 all the boxers i've met are high energy dogs. most are medium to large and klutzes for the duration of puppy hood. how does your current dog deal w/ other large dogs? and what concerns you most about adding a new dog? She hasn't been around a lot of big dogs, but the times we went to the "big dogs" area at the dog park, she was fine, the other day, a white boxer came to the small dogs area for a little while and Maggie was fine with her. Choose a pup who's calm, when I got Lily there were only two left in her litter, she was the boisterous one who came running out to jump on everyone and chew on their shoes. Her brother on the other hand came out and sat quietly on the ground next to us, quite content to just snuggle up to us the whole time we were there... I was after a bitch, although they both had their qualitys I chose Lily (probably would have chosen Lily anyway because she was so beautiful :wink: ) In general though, Boxers are very energetic, playful puppys, though I'm sure if Maggie had enough she would tell the pup and the pup would leave her alone, puppys soon learn what is inapropriate behavior around other dogs so I'm sure you'll have no problems.
