Guest Anonymous
As the weather gets cooler, the huskies get restless! Does any one else here mush or ski jour? Or even skate jour?
deepseasnake
I wish I could, my uncle used to have a team in fairbanks and a guy I work with now used to have 200 kennels in the nothern yukon, I really want to, but washington doesn't have the weather for it and its just not the same being pulled on a 4 wheeler :-? JackieMaya
I had never heard of ski jouring before I saw it on Animal Planet, and it looks like a blast! I might try it for fun next year with my two girls. They both love being outside in the winter, and one of them (Maya) is even part Husky! I like being outside in the winter too, so I think it would be a great activity for me to do with my puppygirls.
Pumpkin the musher
Hey Jackie- I'm right across the river in Wisconsin- If you want more info on Ski-jouring check out a site called "Sled Dog Central"- it's run by some folks in St. Croix Falls, and it's got a ton of info. Enjoy!
huskys4life
deepseasnake, I'm in washington too. Over in Port Orchard. I know what you mean about the weather, but I talked to someone else south of me and he introduced me to scootering. It sounds pretty good for our climate. Queen Bitch
My dad seems somewhat interested in teaching our Samoyed , Conar to skijour, but this past winter was for all intents and purposes, snowless. There is always next year.

Angelboddy
My mom and i lived in alaska and she had a sled team. I was pretty young, but i do remember riding in the basket they pulled, while my mom mushed the team. It was sooooo fun. :P
Sanvean
Skijouring looks SO fun! I wish I could do it, but it might be a little difficult with a 6-pound Maltese :-?
Pumpkin the musher
Besides my 10 Alaskans, I have a 5 lb. Pomeranian- she has her own little harness and loves to pull around her little toy sled- she also loves to ride in the sled when I train my "Real" sled dogs :D . Sanvean
Oh, Pumpkin, you have GOT to post photos of that! I bet it's too cute for words! My friend has two Aussies who pull a wagon stocked with snacks and drinks as part of a fund-raiser for a local nature center. Her Pom loves to ride in it -- we say she does PR! Pumpkin the musher
Sorry folks, no pictures yet. I don't actually own a computer, and do all my surfing on my breaktimes at work. Hence my lack of posts on weekends! I do plan to get a computer soon though, and you will have plenty pictures, I promise.
Annushka
Setters weren't bred for ski-jouring, but my Asting is best of our friends' dogs :D We even succesfully competed with laikas :silly: In winter our daily run is about 20 km
