1.
You mean the grinch isn't real??? :icon_rock:
oh no, the grinch is real, at least HE has to be if the dog isn't
2. no, no, I have all the respect for the doggie-actors :D I was just dissappointed that the wierd dog wasn't "real". You know, that's like telling me that the Grinch isn't real either, and santa doesn't exist  You see what I mean now, don't you?
3. :o I was convinced it was the same dog! And was curious as to the long hound ears on a wiry haired dog--to think that they made them wear fake ears upsets me :x
4. I've just watched "The Grinch" movie with Jim Carrey, and I really liked the Grinch's dog :D Does anyone know what breed he is? I think he is probably a mutt, but if he is a certain breed, I wanna know :D I thought he looked a lot like a bloodhound or like laurel, courtnek's hound (the long ears!), except he was hairy like the Grinch    Anyway, I like him most of all in the movie  But then again, I'm sure to like any movie with a dog in it, as my husband noticed (complainingly  )
5.
He looks so handsome and clean...is that a toy and the real Kato is hidden?
he does look like a teddybear--hmmmm, very suspicious
6. very funny malamum, I'm guessing you haven't read the last one of courtnek's posts     The puzzle's solved, and it's nothing scary, which is good to know :D
7.
It's raining now constantly, and the yard is covered in mud and I have to do the "feet dance" every time I bring them in to clean off their feet. It would be so much easier just to slip the boots on and off, and leave them in the tiled hallway by the back door... might help when the snow starts too....
Courtnek, putting boots on 4 (8 in your case) struggling, uncooperating feet is far more difficult than wiping feet  Or maybe as difficult :D And somehow they have a way of getting muddy even with the boots on--at least Hippo does  But the boots are good for getting less mud on and for keeping the salt from hurting their paws...
8. Hippo was sort of scared when she first saw and heard a vacuum cleaner, but I just run it without moving it and let her approach and sniff it--once she saw it won't bite her, she calmed down  And another time I also recall her being spooked--of two big garbage bags that were in the street--I touched the bags myself and she then came over with small curious steps to check them out :D Now I realize that some dogs are easily scared (and she's not one of them), but I think if they're also very curious and think everything is their business, then their curiosity might help them overcome their fear. Just a thought, don't know how/if this would work with Kavik...
9. marion, those are pics from when she was a baby and would get cold--now she couldn't wrestle all the dogs at the park and run like mad if I still dressed her up like that  But she still has booties for the city streets in winter when they put salt to melt the snow... and the salt is just horrible for dogs' paws :x
10. look at hippo's little black dress with matching booties
11. Starfox, I think the operation Zebra went through is probably the cause--not necessairly because of the pain (as you say, he's taking pain meds), but because of the stress. For a young, active dog, it must be hell to be crated all the time... I know when Hippo was spayed she was pretty psychotic--and that's just from not excersing a few days. Also pain medication can have side effects and mess up your head to a certain extent (that's why I hate to take drugs--they have weird side effects). That's my little explanation. Good luck with him, Starfox....
12. why do some idiots think that the world is at fault for their idiocy?! unbelievable... and the poor wolf died becuase of her stupidity too :x
13. I have to say Shar-pei--all those wrinkles just get to me  who could tell? :D
14. marebear, if the bitch still has some pups in, waiting until Monday is gonna kill her, she needs to see the vet immediately. can you tell your siter that? I feel sorry for Baby that she has such an irresponsible and heartless owner... I can't iamgine anyone selling their grown up dog--who the hell's gonna buy her anyway, with so many rotties (and all other kinds of dogs) in rescues?
15. I'd love to, malamum--not so much for the plants, as for the warmth :D Maybe in 3 or 4 years when I'll be looking for a professor job, I'll land something in a warm place like yours  One can only hope 8) I just realized the irony of your having a malamute who doesn't get to see snow :o
16.

The thought that it could get too cold for plants never even occured to me
 I think that is so cool actually. It is really interesting to see how where we live shapes the way we think.
I'm just envious :agrue:
17. to add the pei to the doggie reactions... Shar-Pei: Change the light bulb? ME? That's beneath my dignity! Frankly I'm insulted you've even dared asking...
18.
As well as using a cleaning solutions like already suggested, how about some nice fragrent plants. You could put them in hanging baskets so the dogs can't eat them.
:o malamum, I'm guessing you must never get winter! here the temperatures are already dropping below zero now--and probably for more than half a year any plant left outside would die :D all I can say is: some people are lucky!!!!
19. I voted NO... 5 times  do you think they have any way of telling? :evilbat:
20. abker, with Cracker being less active, I would feed her less than Abby--maybe feed a little less than the recommended amount to Abby (since the recommendation is for dogs 40-60lb and she's only 40 lb), and then feed Cracker around 1 1/2 cups. I know I tend to be a little paranoid  about overweight dogs, but I really think that they're happier and more energetic if they're kept slim even as they age...
21.
I think it is better for them to have a shorter more natural life than a longer restricted life.
agreed, agreed, agreed! :klacz: It's not the quantity that matters, but the quality
22.
Also with Rio he has a diluted coat (he is blue)and I have often wondered what the big deal is with this as most breeds are considered inferior if they are born with a blue coat (with the exception of danes),anyone know ?
Ellie, for Shar-pei, a blue Pei is a money-making machine right now. From what I've been reading, many breeders are trying to breed blue puppies--it's the latest fashion  . But I have no idea if the dilute coats are at any health risk...
23. I think the puppy taking the toys is ok, as long as it doesn't look like it's gonna break into a fight. If the other dog is putting up with it and giving up his toy, maybe he wants to be dominated by the new arrival. If he wasn't submissive, he'd stand up to the little guy and let him know that's not his toy. But while I think this is normal dog behaviour, and that they'll sort it out between themselves, the little one growling at humans is not acceptable--for whatever reason. So he probably needs to start tarining--learn to work for his treats, his food, etc. And because he seems to be protective of his things, I'd also teach him that any human is allowed to take his food away at any time, and that any human can take toys away from him--I have a breed who wants to take control over things, and we had to make sure that she understands that we make the calls: we feed her when we decide, and we can take her food away, etc.
