I have a 3 year old neutered shih tzu which was a blessing to us until six months ago.I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He was easy to house brake and loves people and animals but about six month ago he got an ear infection and has not been the same since. He is still a very loving dog with the exception of the times when he bits so hard and so mean that it takes weeks for my hand to heal. He has done the same thing to the groomer, two out of the three times i took him grooming. Now we are banned from that grooming place. He never bit before, even as a puppy.
I took him to training and that did not help at all. I know he is healthy because we just came back from the vet and I try my best to take care of him. How do I manage his aggression? It seems like he hates to be touched. Touching and peting was not an issue for 2 and half years prior to this behavior change. The biting does not occure on a daily bases, but this type of agression last for about 2-3 days before he becomes " normal" again. I think he had a bad experience at the vet followed by a bad experience at the groomers and i fear he is ruined.
Please anyone help. I love him very much but he is becoming a liability and i am even contemplating on puting him down
