The idea behind a top list is to give your site
more traffic as well as recognition. It also provides a service
to the web surfer by providing a list of dog related resources
and pages. The bigger better sites will normally send more traffic
(because they have tons of hits) and therefore be higher on the
list. It is easy enough to get high on the top list. All you have
to do is put a link.
On top of the traffic sent by other people on
the list, traffic is also received from people who hit the main
page and browse over to the top 100 section. It is common to see
many of the people on the list getting twice to three times as
many hits back as the send. The number of hits sent by each person
on the list is listed under the "IN" column. The number
of hits received is listed under the "OUT" column.
Hits are calculated every 3 hours
and we reset it every month.
To prevent cheating we added ip logging
- only traffic from unique ip addresses counts (unique means - since
1 hour nobody from this address accessed our top site by clicking
link on your web page).
REMEMBER, the more traffic
you send to the list, the higher you will get and the more return
traffic you will get.
