1.
Star, I agree, and really don't see how anyone couldn't. I've really gotten lost on the whole "responsible breeding" thing. I got my puppy from what sounded like a fairly responsible person, one or two things were a little odd, but every breeder I've ever met, or talked to, has had one or two things, if not more, that has made me feel a little un-easy. Anyway, back to the being not sure part, it seems as if everyone has different views on whats reputable, and whats not. Like I said, a breeder I thought was a good one was called a byb by most everyone else. For reasons I saw only as just some minor faults. I can't really tell the difference between responsible and not anymore, because all of the difference in opinions from everyone else, I don't know what to trust.
You said what I was thinking exactly. On the other forum I'm a part of I was bashed because people claimed I supported puppy mills, and I thought I purchased my pup from a good place.

    Maltese

My maltese is a sweetheart. She always wants to be in my lap and cuddle. I did purchase her at eight months, though. That's a while after they go through thier chewing phase so that may be why she is so well behaved. However, a maltese is a great choice of breed if you're looking for a cuddly companion. The grooming may be an issue if you're not consistent. I have to brush Tippi once or twice a day or she mats. Taking her to the grooming once a month or more can be expensive. But if you're up for that, go for it. =]
  3. My boyfriends Papillion is a little terror. We purchased him at four months and he's been nothing but trouble. He tears up everything in the house if he doesn't keep himself busy. He even tore up parts of the wallpaper. If you walk him to tire him out, he'll nap for thirty minutes then wake up and go insane again. We had to purchase another puppy to be his girlfriend. So far he's calmed down with him new friend. If you're going to purchase a Papillion I suggest either having another dog, or getting your new pap a friend. They're very active dogs. Don't let their cuteness decieve you. =P
