1. I logged on tonight and saw this in the news section of my server. I thought I'd send a heads-up to everyone to see if anyone in VA thinks some letter writing might be a good idea. I know that most pits can be gentle giants if reared correctly, and this probably is more the owner's fault than anything else. start.earthlink.net/article/nat?guid=20051218/43a4ecd0_3421_13345200512182022335070 Soprry, I haven't figured out how to post something like this on here yet with just a "referral" name. Oh, and if this belongs under "News", please move it if you want to.
2. Sheesh, is this kid a freakin' Paris Hilton-wannabe??? Sure sounds like it!!!
3. I was at my local mall today and decided to wander into the puppymill outlet (aka the pet store) and actually saw a puggle there. Too small for my own tastes (hey, an Aussie, a beagle and a Sibe in the house, so to me these look like they'll be small!!). Didn't even ask what they were going for around here, just turned around and left!! I cannot imagine spending big money for a mixed-breed pup when I could adopt from the local Humane group for $50, including shots and spay/neuter!!
4. Court, I'm joining everyone else is hoping that Ford returns to you soon!!! Thinking positive thoughts!!! (Paws crossed, too).
5. See how well the powers of Dogo thoughts are?? I'm so glad Trouble is back home. I imagine you were missing her almost more than the relatives!!
6. I'd love to invite Cynthia over o the board I'm on, but it's been indicated that if we post anything regarding the DAK situation, we would be blocked from psoting anything ever again. Too many ruffeled feathers and I think too many people are feeling a bit insecure about themselves due to now finding out that they were buying into her lies. Over there, Naomi claimed to have Boonie pts due to heart worms, NOTHING about a heart murmor, and Justine surprised her with the dog as a b'day gift from him while he was in Iraq. Yes, she stated that she couldn't afford the treatment for the heartworm, that she first was going to take him on a flight to her folks, but then the vet advised her not to (I think that was the story). Also she said that the vet wasn't sure that the treatments could save him. Having dealt with a dog with congestive heart failure, yeah, it's a royal pain pushing pills and watching activity levels, but highly doable---and I had 4 kids under 10 to take care of!! Nothing was said about Missy over there. Stryker was given away as she felt so sorry for him as he loved kids and was always looking longingly at the neighbor's children (Thank you, Bailey's Mom, for giving Stryker the loving family he needed and deserved!!!!) and so she got Moose. I'm curious to hear what Oasis has to say!!! I wonder if they have a "return" policy that she's violated to the extent that they could take her to court over having Cody put down? Cynthia, thank you for the love you give your fosters!!! I think that some of the problem with CC's post is the way it was worded (made it sound very accusatory rather than a "polite" question.) I just hope you keep doing your fine work and don't let "a bad appple spoil the bunch!!"
7. I've been rolling all over the floor with some of the posts!!! All I can say is that from pics I've seen of her, she does nothing for me. (0ooops, ummmm, maybe that's because I'm female and not inclined to go there!! Not my style, but I'm not trying to insult those who might be so inclined.) From what Naomi indicated on Ripley's Retreat, Justin wanted Zoe as a guarddog, for times when he was away, to protect his little woman---I personally think that she looks like she could take care of herself, but...she's no small, petite little thing. And to get a Great Dane with the little yappatizers around? I know most GDs are gentle giants, but come on!!! Maybe we'll be lucky and read in the paper how her little pursedogs attacked HER one night and "put her out of our misery"!!!! (Sure would be waht she deserves, jmho)
8. I just wanted to let you know that the last *I* heard, when Justin "got out" they were moving to Colorado. Already have a house picked out that they---I mean that she--- wants and that supposedly Justin has a job all lined up. WTF?? He's still got several months left before he is discharged, doesn't he? And I guess another of her lies fell through--now they're moving in with her folks (again)? Too bad there's not a national DNA registery in place, it sure would save rescues a lot of heartache if they could just access a national listing service to check up on someone.
9. I'm so sorry you had to make this difficult decision. Poor you, but what a wonderful thing you did for Gladis, loving her enough to go to the Bridge rather than trying to keep her here with you a bit longer. Gladis, rest peacefully, play freely and wait patiently for those you've left behind. Wear that silver collar with pride.
10. I may be new here, but I wanted to add my sympathies to the others. May all of you find comfort in the time you have left with Gladis, enjoying it to the fullest, knowing that you have given her a wonderful life. May she be in little discomfort and pain. Go quietly into the night, Gladis, and wear your silver collar with pride on the other side of the Bridge, romp freely with those who have gone before you and are waiting there, until those left behind come accross that bridge.
11. If your neighbor needs more proof that things can go wrong, here's one for you... (And before someone with Pit Bulls yells at me, I know that they can be sweeties!!) In the town next to mine, a 7-yr-old girl was out collecting money for a school fundraiser on Sunday. She went to the next-door neighbor's house, a VERY well-known friend of the family who usually had their pits out in the back yard, chained and fenced. The child was known to the dogs and had visited them often, but on Sunday, the dogs were off leash and on the front porch. When the girl came up, they attacked her, upper arm and lower leg torn down and well into the muscle, requiring 3 hours of surgery. The dogs were pts and will be checked for rabies. Tough lesson learned the hard way---for everyone.
12.

man, how old are you? I havent heard the term "fuzz" since I was in high school, and that was decades ago....
 Now who is old enough to remember "pigs" ?!
me....
Okay, and I can recall cops being referred to as "coppers"---well, at least in the movies!!
13. Gee, another Drama Queen!!!! Okay, I won't go there. I'm with the rest of the group here. Find a new client, who's VERY demanding, get a card (you don't "owe" a gift for a person's wedding when you've met them once, even if they are "family"), a good bottle of your favorite, and go to the cabin, open said libation and offer up a toast of good wishes.
14. My daughter is using a dog litterbox for her pug. They got the pup about 8 weeks after they had a baby, and with a newborn, my daughter wasn't comfortable with the idea of taking the puppy out every few hours to train it, so they opted to use a litterbox. They've had great success with it, but then again they've done this from the beginning. I'm not too sure how an older dog would take to it, especially since it's been trained NOT to go in the house.
15. Thanks for the sites and recipes!! I'm going to post a few over the weekend (if the family doesn't have plans that fill it up already that I don't know about!!)
