Miniature Australian Shepherd / North American Miniature Australian Shepherd
Lash's Me And My Shadow (13" tall)
General
The Miniature Australian Shepherd is a smaller version of The Australian
Shepherd. They are nicely conformed, and well balanced. Very athletic
and agile. They are small to medium in size. They have a medium length
coat, which does not require daily grooming. General coat colors are: Blue
Merle, Red Merle, Black Tri, and Red Tri. They have the size to be
adaptable to city or farm life.
Characteristics
They are highly intelligent, easy to train and work with. Wonderful
companions, preferring to be at your side. Some can be a bit aloof with
strangers, while others are more outgoing. Miniature aussies height is
13"-17", with a tail not to exceed 3". Toy Aussies are under 13" tall, with
a 1" or less tail length. Ears should be in proportion to dog, breaking
slightly forward.
Temperament
They have a good, even disposition. They are not normally given to
quarrel. Generally get along real well with other dogs, as well as all people.
History
These dogs certainly were the result of years of concentrated breeding in
down-sizing the standard Aussie. I would do an injustice as to try to nail
down a time frame. Most of these registered Miniature Australian
Shepherds have many generations of miniature lineage. For the History of
the Australian Shepherd, see that page.
