History
This breed descends from the coursing hounds brought to India by traders from Arabia, Afghanistan and North Africa. These breeds included the Sloughi, Saluqi and Azawakh. It was seen traveling with the caravans of the traders and hence called "Caravan Hound". They were brought to the area which they are found in today, as hunting dogs for the Muslim royals during the war with the Marathas. When the Muslims were defeated, they left the area, but the dogs stayed with the village folk and are still there today.
